How are you playing? I'm curious since my Cat Armor is paired with my Crit Build. Curious how other people are playing with Cat.

Fair warning that this post might contain some MINOR and I mean MINOR spoilers about items and potions that you might not have yet... but nothing about the plot or anything else is in here. I have only spoilered it for the sake of being careful though I doubt it really contains any spoilers.

I've only got the standard set for the time being.

I have the light and heavy attack skills maxed out with 5 points each. I've got the full slow down for the crossbow, and that's all in the red skill tree so far.

I have axii maxed out and try to improve it wherever I can, and I have igni upgraded with 3 points as well as the second sign type which is the stream of fire (which I find kind of useless and I'm thinking of re-specing to get that point back).

I'm using the ability that allows you to cast signs with Adrenalin points (what else should they be used for?). I'm only level 16 so I think that about covers everything... Oh I have the 25% extra damage for the crossbow as well, thinking of getting the light Armour bonus in the yellow / white column next.

I have no idea where to go from here. I'm not going to put any more points in the red column I don't think as all i need is my sword strokes to be strong enough (because that's the main way we do damage right?) and thinking of trying to raise my potion tolerance, potion numbers and bomb numbers... it's always good to have more potions and bombs because I'm ALWAYS meditating for an hour to replenish my shiz and I'd rather be able to do less of that.

I ran out of food when I was fighting the first wild hunt boss and so I'm trying to make sure I'm always stupidly stocked up on food... which at the moment I suppose i am.

I'm always trying different types of crossbow bolts, building more of each all the time but damn those bolts take up a lot of space! The bait bolt and the piercing bolt are the best I've come across yet, I haven't had a chance to try the exploding bolt yet but I suspect I'll use only those three in the future.

I have equipped two bombs that I use primarily. Grapeshot is a must for almost all situations and Dragons Dream is the first explosion one right? I wish it was easier to go from one type of bomb to the other, or that I could use a pocket slot for a bomb instead of the torch and that magic lamp thing which I barely use. I'd be much happier to inventory trawl for those items if I ever need them than have them constantly equipped. I really wish I could.

I have Samum and food in my main equipped slots and always the trophy I use is the one that gives 10% chance to dismember because I'll never get over those animations and cutting people apart! I also love how they explode with grapeshot. Absolutely beautiful that is.

I always start a fight giving a couple of hits from horseback if I am in the situation to do so, and I always have hanged man's venom oil on my steel sword. I virtually never use beast oil unless I run into a bear that is much higher level than I. I also have necrophage oil on all the time as well because I mean... how often are the enemies you fight as you're running around something other than a necrophage? And if they are then I'm usually preparing for the fight anyway.

I love fighting humans most of all, especially groups of guys that are much higher level than me, trying to test out my skills. Early in the game I beat a group of level 15 bandits at level 4 and that was SERIOUSLY tough. AXII is your friend against humans! I love casting the second version as well and getting some allies.

I've cleared almost all of the question marks in the Velen / Novigrad area except for the monsters that I have zero chance of defeating at the moment I've done them all and have completed all of my level relevant quests for where I am up to in my game. I went to skellige because I didn't want the story with triss to get to far ahead of yennefer because I don't know which direction I'm going yet. I realise I'm leading Triss on and I have no idea what outcome will end up happening but I'm sure I'll choose Yen in the end.

Bit of a long post, but that's how I'm playing. I'd be interested in hearing if my play style is anything similar to your own.

Do you count artwork with narrator as part of load times?

Loading time on PC was non existent after the artwork. I can skip artwork halfway the narrator and game starts.

It took at most 3 seconds if artwork didn't appear.

Is it possible to skip that artwork and narrator?? Is there a way to disable that on PC?

Yeah, I'm with you.

I really wish there was some Wolf School armor to improve on Geralt's base armor but... Sadly the Bear is the greatest.

I agree, I wish there was more to the Wolf School Armour, I thought there might have been - but is the armor I started with only up-gradable once? If that is so I have been carrying around that armor for half of the game for no reason.. UGGG I wish there was a damn BOX!!!

Where can I buy the map or note that begins the enhanced feline gear quest? Don't want actual loot location spoilers, just the merchant where I can kick it off. The same info for the regular bear set would be appreciated.

This game has the same issue Skyrim has where the quest writing makes everything seem immediate and urgent, which only serves to encourage rushing through story missions. Now I'm 5 levels ahead of several side quests I still need to do. Ah well. At least they'll be easy.

Monster questions:

Has anyone been able to find an
Ulfhedinn
at all? Or a wild
Succubus, Sylvan, or Doppler
?

Beat everything, still haven't seen any of these outside of quests. Haven't seen the
Ulfhedinn
period.

What is an

I believe the artwork and narrator is part of loading. Around the time the narrator said half of his lines, I press the space bar and the game starts.

Is it just me or has the 1.03 patch made pop in and texture pop in much worse on the ps4 version?

Yeah, it seems to have gotten much worse for me as well. The game, at times, even lets me enter buildings when the textures haven't loaded all the way yet, and I can see all the characters and objects pop into place as I'm standing still for a few seconds or so.

Same here on xbox one. Also seeing a ton more glitches during cutscenes. Didn't have any of these problems with patch 1.01.

Wild Hunt must have the best and most prolific atmospheric sound design around. The wind effects are fantastic, and the thunder is downright frightening (shame about how terrible it looks ).

. Hilarious. Lambert is like almost every friend I had in college.

I did not expect to play
hide and seek with children
and actually be satisfied. Did that side quest happen for everyone? The way I started that mission was completely different from that 35 minute demo.

Obligatory screenshots from that area:

I gave the kids candy instead. Sounds like I missed out.

Oh, I did see another one today, right after I loaded in at the Novigrad docks. A kid off to one side says (presumably in response to Geralt's cat eyes) "Jeepers creepers, look at those peepers!"

Is there any point in crossbow bolts or should I just find nearest trashbin? At least split bolts are joke at best while weight more than heavy armor.

There's also a Madonna reference that I've heard in Novigrad.

Random ladies will say "I'm a material girl and its a material world"

I just finished the
cockatrice contract and i was ready to receive my well-deserved reward until the dialogue options appeared:
>leave the orens for the kid
>take the orens.
and i was like: "fuck!....fine,use that money to take care of that kid" i´m such an idiot.
I really felt sorry for that boy,i wish there was a hug option.

So what level should you be by Vizima if you've completed all possible quests? I was level three but think I remember someone way back imply that they were level five. I did everything available aside from the level 6 Viper School gear scavenger hunt.

Edit: Just completed it and got no experience, ugh. I know death march is supposed to be difficult but it's felt like I've been under leveled the entire game. I've done a bunch of random side stuff in Velen yet have just hit the recommended level for one part of the main quest (one level under suggested level for the other part).

In retrospect I've done many quests where it felt like I got no experience (no message for it and the bar wouldn't move), but now that I'm aware of it I don't think I can play any further until the patch.

I am having difficulty fighting the
werewolf in the missing person quest I forgot the name. His health regenerates so fast! Anything I am missing?

Also, what is the consensus on the best difficulty to get the most out of the experience? I am on normal, should I switch back the blood and bones... whatever that was called lol

I think I was ~3.5 when I got done with Prologue area. I did next to no monster farming, but that would be way to get some extra XP / levels. Also go back there and do that gear quest, those swords you get from that are good for start of the game.

Hm, so unless Radania's Most Wanted and A Matter of Life and Death quests cumulatively give 25xp, I'd say I probably have the XP bug? Don't recall getting it for Count Reuven's treasure either. I'm assuming the 200 xp I did get in between all these quests was from killing enemies.

Guess I'll have to wait for the patch.

I feel like I've done every quest everywhere at this point. I did notice a similar looking monster during a quest with a tower, but it was still called
"werewolf."

well,

the quest "in wolf's clothing" unlocks a bestiary entry for ulfhedinn, it goes on says that "ulfhedinn are a breed of werewolf found mainly in skelliege..older and particularly dangerous ulfhedinn are called vroefs

If you have XP bug you get 0 XP from quest X, not 25 XP instead of 50 etc. Also apparently grey quests are intended to give next to 0 XP when done.

So I'm riding around in the area outside Novigrad and I'm going to notice boards, but it seems like no new quests are popping up for me. Is this a bug? Should I be getting a lot of new quests?

Bit of a long post, but that's how I'm playing. I'd be interested in hearing if my play style is anything similar to your own.

I actually had the second alternate Igni ability unlocked as well. It's really a great tool against slow enemies, but it suffers heavily against faster creatures, especially fast mobs. I actually respeced to put the points elsewhere. So the way my build works right now is to focus on the generation of critical hits (so much extra damage!) as often as possible.

I actually probably have far more points than you in the Red section.

I have Muscle Memory, Precise Blows, Strength Training and Crushing Blows all maxed out (5/5). I also have one point each in Whirl and Rend. Those abilities (Whirl and Rend) are somewhat akin to the alternate mode of Signs. So with either, you just hold down the attack button, and it has a new attack motion. Whirl is particularly cool looking and useful. You can see it here (it's a video of a bug, but it's actually handy for showing you what the animation looks like): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nD9T0NyFmY

Rend isn't nearly as exciting, but when fully leveled, it'll give me a nutty 50% additional critical hit chance. At this point, while combat isn't all that exciting, I can cut through a mob pretty quickly because of the crits I'm generating.

For Signs, all I have unlocked right now is Melt Armor (maxed) and Exploding Shield (maxed). If I could unlock anything else, I might do Yrden because slowing enemies down would probably help my playstyle.

Because I use Cat Armor, Cat School Techniques from the White/Neutral columns was an obvious addition. More critical buffs.

For Alchemy, I'm working on adding Heightened Tolerance and Poisoned Blades. I think this is the true I most underutilized.

Also, good on you for joining #TeamYen

What's strange is that I cleared the crypt much earlier, and could not interact with the corpse containing the diagram for the silver sword. I already had the scavenger hunt quest at the time and had gotten the other diagram already. Either way, at level five this silver sword is still an upgrade over what I have (and I JUST obtained this as an upgrade prior to coming back to White Orchard). Sword is amazing and at level two it would almost seem OP.

I saw a prompt for 25xp from A Matter of Life and Death specifically (it popped up when I got to the party, but nothing for completing the quest) but I'm a little suspicious of completing a main quest and doing two-three side quests and only getting 200xp out of it total, the bulk of which I assume came from killing enemies. I wasn't actively paying attention but I don't recall getting anything for Radania's Most Wanted and Count Reuven's Treasure. Not sure about Eye for An Eye either. None of these are greyed either, I'm level 15 and these are Level 11/12 quests.
