Afaik PS4 is only patched to 1.03 currently, while patch 1.04 is where they patched the missable cards in. 1.04 is available only on PC so far until it passes console certification.

Thanks! I guess I shouldn't have tried to be a badass then. I've learned my lesson though, I'll say that.

Damn, got an awesome steel sword in Velen in the most random way. These two guys were looting some Nilfguardian soldiers at the end of this small bridge. They offered to sell me this sword they looted, and expecting it to be a rubbish ordinary soldiers weapon, I declined. But then I started getting curious, went back, and mowed them down. Found the sword on them, called 'Mourner'. Looks like a gunblade (awesome!) and even though it has around 4 less attack than the Griffin Steel sword, it has much better additional stats imo, with critical damage and critical chance increases, armor piercing and more. Basically perfect for fighting humans.

Very good pick up, and my go to steel sword for now.

Anyone know how to uninstall the PS4 DLC? I hate what the alternate costume does to my Yen
:p

Just so frustrating that I need to turn it off every time I load up the game

I do agree that it's annoying. I think you can delete it from the PS4 Library or within the settings panel. Try the library first though.

Speaking of romances.

Any consequences for sleeping around in W3?

The other games felt like they encouraged you to go ahead and do everyone but now I guess Yennifer is Geralt's actual partner / wife or something but I havent a clue what the character is actually like but I feel like I should get to know her more before I go boning the local witch.

All the muscular guys look like they've been injecting synthol or something, some of them look hilarious, especially in the
Bathhouse section.

I mean they mention her raven hair multiple times in the game and she is all raven themed, so not brunette?

do you also call real women with black hair "raven haired"? isnt raven just their fancy fantasy term for brunette, just like ciri is "ashen haired"?

I think the combat would benefit from some action game mainstays like a Stinger attack (qucikly close space). I don't mind the sword combat at all but its that twirly attack that covers no distance at all that really dampens my enjoyment. Also, Geralt needs to move faster because enemies can circle and back up and dash and whatnot. Not running, but his creeping walk needs a speed boost. Also lock on needs to be able to pick out the closest enemy in the direction your looking like Dark Souls. Other than that it's cool.

Finished the game on Death March already and now playing on Blood and Broken Bones. The difference is enormous. Even fully upgraded masterworks gear at the end of the game the final boss did 70% per hit. Barely even using Quen now, clearing out Bandit camps with skull enemies. Aside from enemies having less health and you taking more damage it seems like humans run out of stamina a lot faster. On Death March if you didn't parry you weren't going to do any damage. Until you could 100% set them on fire that is.
I think lot of people that read the books (and a few that didn't) have said that Geralt is too slow in the video game, unlike his version in the books which is lightning quick. Personally I think Geralt's poise and fighting style as shown in the game wouldn't make sense if he was darting around, especially considering his muscular, lithe body. He's not a samurai, I guess. So far I haven't had trouble fighting any enemy (a group of drowners can get really tough quick though, especially when being attacked from all sides).

How am I supposed to beat this damn game. I'm like 60 hours in and am still in Velen. I still haven't done a majority of contracts or my side quests because of hunting for armor and gwent cards.

Loving this game. Best RPG I've ever played. The questing is just plain amazing and doesn't feel tacked on. All the side quests have stories and I don't think there has been a single "kill 10 bunnies and bring me their tails" bullshit fetch quest. The armor and weapons aren't all recolored generic variants of one another. Hell, even roach gets decked out. Everything is so well designed aside from the janky combat sometime.

I'll never be able to finish DA:I after this. Hell man it feels like there are 2 other games within this game.

Uh...no. "Raven" is a romantic fantasy term for "black hair." A brunette is brown (or sometimes black) hair. The word brunette means "little brown-haired girl."

In common usage people do seem to call black hair brunette sometimes, and I don't get why. They're totally different colors. As a stark example, my mother is of Asian descent. You wouldn't say she's a brunette. That's weird. She has dark, dark, dark black hair.

I will never understand why people feel the need to trash other games just because they like the current one. Its something you dont really see with movies or books for example

this highlander-ish "there can be only one" mentality to games is bizarre

No, brunette is brown haired. Yennefer is black haired. Raven haired is just a colourful way of saying black haired.

Side note, CDPR did a smashing job at making the main ladies look highly attractive. Yennefer, Ciri (aside from the smudged make up and beaten up look) and Triss all look great. Character model wise they're some of the best looking females in a Western RPG.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
If peeps are anything like me they'll spend the bulk of their game time in the first act, and the tail end of the game will speed by relatively much faster. Most quests seem geared towards the earlier part of the game anyway. I'm level 30 and aside from main quests there's not much in the way of side quests equal to my level, sans some contracts.

I think it's more due to personal bewilderment and confusion than anything. For example, I stopped playing mid way through both Oblivion and Skyrim out of utter eventual boredom, and think Witcher 2 and 3 are infinitely better games. Better world, lore, characters, dialogue, combat, side quests, story, pacing, everything pretty much. That said, Oblivion and Skyrim sit at 94 and 96 on Metacritic respectively, whilst W2 and W3 sit at 88 and 92. There's not a lot in it, but it is perplexing to me either way. If you asked me why I thought the Eldar Scrolls games reviewed better than the Witcher games for example, even after having read the reviews and played the games, I couldn't answer you.

jesus shit this goddamn side quest concerning some
giant and a boat with a crew that's all dead on one of those skillege islands

It's probably because plenty of people cling too much to the RPG label and the open worldness when comparing games. Elder Scrolls games and Witcher games are vastly different games. Ever since Morrowind, scrolls games have been all about power fantasy, you're basically going through the games slowly becoming a god. Dovahkin could pretty much destroy the wild hunt on his own , he fights dragons, rides dragons, can fall from any height (damn you Geralt), can send dozens of people flying with his shout, etc.

While the Witcher games are all about the lore and getting into character.

To be fair though there are some elements of the ES lore that are better than the Witcher, Gods (Deidra, Eidra) in particular.

What level are you and on what difficulty?

There's an item that you can find that makes harpies a breeze.

I appreciate all that, in fact those are the reasons I always still end up buying the games. But at the same time I can't believe how poor and janky the combat is, how weak so many of the animations are, how slow and monotonous the game often is in terms of pacing, how repetitive and lazy so much of the side quest design is, how unconvincing some of the dialogue and responses are etc.

Not sure the ambitious and huge nature of these types of games, nor all the other quality aspects, are enough for me to personally overcome or disregard such shortcomings. I was deadly worried deep down that The Witcher 3 might have sacrificed some of it's attention to detail and quality, by going so large scale, but so far in my experience that doesn't seem to have happened.

I thought I was all caught up on my side quests. I did a book culling and got like 7 treasure hunting quests.
Did you look in your quest items tab for it, or just your usable items tab?
Yeah. I'm hoping it doesn't matter since it's possible to not loot them it seems.

Oh god the Bounty Hunters Gambeson makes Geralt look like he has a HUGE gut lol. Am I the only one who sticks with armor for the looks even if the stats are crap? I'm still using the Temerian set at level 10 :/

Should telegraph this spoiler a bit better than this. This is fairly deep in the game, don't read if you aren't.
I clicked the spoiler and had no idea what the spoiler meant. You just made it worse. I wish that people who noticed a concerning spoiler would stop calling people out in the thread. Send people a PM or something for goodness sakes.

I'm doing the same. I blame Fashion Souls.

level 21 and e-z. shameful i know :(
Huh. Not sure how to help. I'm on Blood and Bones, level 20 and I only had trouble with this one mob of Devourers.

Have you just started the mission or are you well into it? There's kind of a side objective,
and if you follow it to find this missing dude who went chasing some other dude, you can find a nearby item that causes harpies to literally fall out of the sky, allowing for easy easy kills.

Yeah the combat is really bad, except for the range stuff - closest thing to a Robin Hood rpg you'll find.

Bethesda's game engine is notoriously janky with everything, hopefully the rumors of them switching to Unreal 4 or Cryengine are true.

It's a shame that the Witcher 3 doesn't have as dope a horse as Skyrim though, now that thing is intense.

The horn? I've got that and I'll use it. I'm mainly having troubles just navigating the map. There's like 2 yellow circles, and one is on this mountain, but I'm not sure if it's actually telling me to get on top of this mountain or go to the bottom.

Disappointed that the questline involving the
Var Attre twins
doesn't lead to some sexy time. Seems bugged too, given both choices lead to the same thing.

I mean if you clicked it yeah but clicking errant spoilers seems like a bad idea. Now it's fixed and my post is gone which I intended on doing. It was my hope that people would skip it get to my post and not read it.

yesterday I saw the fastest weather change ever.. it was one of the darkest storms ever in the game.. then I went on an abandoned village and all the clouds run away in one second to free the place for a happy sun.. and it wasn't even in the usual cutscene after freeing it.. it all happened in real time in front of my eyes.
