The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

Yeah, it seems to have gotten much worse for me as well. The game, at times, even lets me enter buildings when the textures haven't loaded all the way yet, and I can see all the characters and objects pop into place as I'm standing still for a few seconds or so.

It's kind of neat to run though Novigrad, watching buildings appear piece-by-piece in front you of. One time I was I trying to figure out why the game wasn't letting me walk into an alley... turned out that the wall of that building just took a very long time load.

Might be worth investing in the alchemy tree. Ordinarily once you take a decoction you can't use anything else for a good while. I think you can down 2 with the alchemy tree and on top of the bonuses you get crazy damage buffs while you're hopped up on witcher balls

This. Putting just 1 point in Acquired Tolerance from alchemy tree almost doubles your toxicity tolerance, so you can run around with decoction and still chug potions during fights. There's really no reason not to use decoctions, unless you're going with pure sword and/or signs build.

Well, she was in a bandit group for a time.

well of course I'm talking about the ciri in this game and for what i've seen until now (still wondering around skellige ATM)
books' character is probably more interesting..here it just seems like the second coming of jesus..incredible powers, good in combat,compassionate,gentle..in the world of the witcher where everyone has his flaws and sins...she seems out of place.

I thought it was a weird design decision to give her high heel boots. Maybe that's just me.
It's not just you.
I kind of suspect that it's a result of having one set of animations for all three female leads. If someone insisted on giving one of them high heels, they all had to end up with them.
No other woman in the game moves as strangely as those three, like a robot on a catwalk.

She's a child and an early teen for most of the story, so she would never be burly, but I also don't think she should be a stick figure.

Why not? Why can't there be thin characters?

It's not like the game uses this model for everyone. There are going to be skinny people in the world. And as Ciri
has her combat potential enhanced by other means
, she doesn't require the frame that most would.

Skinny is ok, you know?

Uhh, just came across a boy and a girl on a small island north of Arinbjorn in Skellige. They part of a quest or something? Thought it was just a bug since trying to talk with them gives generic npc dialogue, but they both interacted with a skeleton nearby, unless that's some dynamic npc scripting.

i would like ciri more if she wasn't this "too good to be true" kind of character..at least until now...she doesn't have a quirk,a flaw..she is incredible and everyone loves her...i hate characters like that :p

Well, she's hot-headed, impulsive, stubborn, proud and vengeful. But because she is fundamentally good and caring person, it all evens out. She's basically a shounen hero protagonist - or she just reminds me of Harry Potter ;)

Books often mention her having an elven-type figure. She's described more as an dancer or an acrobat, more than a typical (to the setting) warrior woman.

Hard to show much of her character when she's constantly on the run or in combat, I expect we'll get more meaningful interactions with her when Geralt and her eventually reunites.

I've only used decoctions once succesfully, I think. So far, at least. They jup up the toxicity level far too much to be effective imo.

so about the dropping items in the world and them staying forever thing.. i just checked on some equipment i left near a fast travel sign and it's gone. i don't know if it's because of the patch or too much time has passed or what.

Ciri comes into her own in the second half of the game. Her storyline later on deals with her understanding her place and what she's destined for. Also, her interactions with Geralt are awesome.

Well, she killed dozens of soldiers that weren't even attacking her, in the opening cinematic.

The original tip in the PC mod thread states placing them in a house. Not sure if that matters or not.

yep, probbaly need some investments on the appropriate skill tree..the problem is that with the fact that you have to equip the skills and that those slots are limite..it kinda damper the choice.
while i still like this game, the more i play ,the more i think it could have been so much better if some gameplay mechanics had more thought and effort put into them..like..since a focus of the game is on preparation for a battle..why isn't there a sneaking option where you can scout what enemy is there in order to prepare in time?you can't apply oils in battle..so you either already know who you are against (and yeah, sometimes you do,since most of the quest start with an "investigation" where you tget to know what you are up against, but sometimes you have no way to know it),or you have to break immersion,re-load and prepare

So where's the best place to sell off my trophies? They're starting to take precious inventory space.

I'd love to know this too. I have a bunch just sitting in my inventory and I'm still using the griffin head because of the bonus.

On another note, as far as builds go, I feel a bit OP at level 10. I'm running an Axii build with a lot of swords skills maxed (fast attack, fast crit dmg) so I can stunlock some of the bigger enemies like the
Fiend
from the Bog. I can literally mash fast attack 4x and then cast Axii, rinse repeat until it was dead and never ran out of adrenaline/stamina. If it gets too bad maybe ill turn up the difficulty.

there is an alchemist just outside the northeast part of oxenfurt (in the crematorium) that buys everything at its full value..but he doesn't have much money..so it's not someone you can go often to.
also, sometimes it glitches and you can't talk to him..just meditate outside of the crematorium and re-enter if that happens.

There really should be a meditate without refilling your stock option. I hate it when I waste an alcholest to refill one bomb I never use in combat anyway because I blew up a monster nest earlier :(

THIS! Sometimes I want to just refill my health instead of wasting alcohol refilling 1 potion. I love this game but it has so many minor annoyances and questionable design flaws. Also, why does the game have to fade to black when you click an armor/weapon enhancement? Why is there loading screens in between cutscenes that ruin the flow of conversations. Grr.

Eh? I'm one skinny-ass mother fucker myself, so I would hope that skinny is OK.
There absolutely can be thin characters, but they shouldn't be the ones swinging huge swords. You would never see a bony "male swordsperson" in this game (unless he's a joke character) and that's why Ciri probably shouldn't be one.
All of the leads have similar thin figures. Having the one capable swordswoman in the game be just as thin and striking the same fashion model poses is not a sign of diversity.

Asked but never gotten answered:
1. I have full on griffin armour and weapons and @ lvl 10
a. Can I sell the Warriors Leather Jacket now?
b. Can I sell the starting witcher swords?
- Where is a good armorer/blacksmith I can sell these to?
2. Can I sell the books and documents I've already read?
a Can I sell the contracts documents as well?
- Where is a good book merchant I can sell these to?

So if I want to start reading the books from the beginning, which one do I start with?

As far as I know, it goes The Last Wish/Sword of Destiny, then Season of Storms/Blood Of Elves/Baptism of Fire/Time of Contempt/Tower of the Swallow/Lady of the Lake. Storms, Tower and Lady haven't been translated yet.

While I'm really excited for the two expansion packs, I'd also be really happy with a third expansion pack that for most part uses the world layout as is as a basis to add new quests and contracts. New NPCs to meet with their own little arcs, contracts with new monsters, etc, further increasing content density.

1b. you shouldn't have starting swords if they've been fully upgraded?

2a. yes and yes. any merchant who will take them, no one's going to give you good money for a random document or book.

I believe the Warriors jacket can only be upgraded once and its still very low level, so yes. I see no reason not to sell the starter swords, they are junk. I think the best blacksmith is in Novigrad, at least thats what one of the NPC's said. Yes you can sell the documents you read, just hang onto the ones under the quest tab. No idea about the book merchant.

The books describe her as having an elven figure.

She has her
strength enhanced by "other means".
Her frame is perfectly fine lore wise.

The other main characters aren't as thin as her either. Most of them are slim because they're active warriors/adventurers or use magic to enhance their appearance.

I don't see the issue.

I got an upgrade for it in White Orchard, I cant see that there is another one in the horizon frankly.

I havent found any upgrades for the "Witcher Steel Sword" or the "Witcher Silver Sword" anywhere :/

Ah good, they take up alot of space in the inventory.

GOD DAMN! I just fought and defeated a lvl 48 Archgriffin I found, I'm only lvl 37. Boy, was that an intense fight. I died many times as it was basically a one hit kill type deal, however I was finally able to carefully line up my attacks and dodge swiftly, relying heavily on Quen for its cheap ass counter attacks. Of course, the treasure it was guarding was utter crap but at least the fight was fun.

there are quite a few villages that nothing happens in them right now. East and southern area of Velen are really empty too.

And Oxenfurt. Heart of Stone is supposed to be filling it out though, that should help.

Hoping for more gwent content.
I want that they announce a third Expansion story that is just a big Niilfgaardian Tournament in Vizima where the best of the best from all the Empire and even people from the North are invited to become King of Games. With ways for Geralt to collect information about his next opponent per investigation and cheat (by having his enemies or enemies cards have accidents) and Geratl defending himself against such actions.

Ok so if I go to the barber and change my haircut, and then shave my beard, will my beard start to regrow again? If not how do I get it to grow again?

And elven swordsmen in this game have the figure of a Gears of War bro because they're men, and men have to look strong, while women have to look like fashion models. That's the issue.

Do we have a list of what the other 12 free DLC will be?

do we have a list of the next free dlcs?

No. I should say one of the free DLCs is probably gwent cards. "Probably" because they haven't been formally announced, but there's a gwent cards dlc=true line of code in one of the config files, alongside the Yennefer alternate outfit.

Assuming that's accurate, there's also an alternative outfit for both Triss and Ciri coming too. That's all we know.

And elven swordsmen in this game have the figure of a Gears of War bro because they're men, and men have to look strong, while women have to look like fashion models. That's the issue.

Most elves in the game, especially Scoia'tael warriors, have lean figures irrespective of gender. Iorveth in TW2 has a classically elven, if scarred, "pretty" look.. Aen Elle elves tend to look more unorthadox and, in the case of the Wild Hunt, stronger/buffer but I assume that's deliberate. Cerys hardly looks like a model princess, make up excluded. Sorceresses all doll up for specific lore/setting reasons. Ciri is really the only the odd one out.

it should regrow..but in fact i had only one instance where the beard has come back..on the other 2 even after several and several days, the beard style was still the same

Not come across those yet, all elves I've seen so far are slim like elves usually are.

Can you show me another swordswomen in game who handles a large sword who isn't
enhanced by the Elder Blood
?

Ciri is really the only the odd one out.

Right. And she doesn't required a larger frame to handle a sword.

don't remember a thing of witcher 2's story

my memory is a bit hazy..geralt becomes a wild hunt rider to save yennefer that was taken by them right?but how they got yennefer in the first place?

Speaking of which, is there much stuff that's level 35+? I know there's one contract with something about Oxenfurt forest. I have no idea how CDPR expected people to hit cap unless there's bunch of stuff I've been missing.
