The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

What's up with the incredible level inconsistency between enemies?

I fight some level 3 enemies and go south a bit.... only to find level 22 enemies. Then I go around them and find level 10 enemies.

Seriously, wtf?

What's the problem?
Do you prefer enemies scale their level according to how far you go from your starting point just like in other generic RPGs?

Yeah, I learned that the hard way when I was trying to hit as many points of interest as I could really early in the game. Ran past some level 4-5 mobs in to a level 30 something Wyvern.

What's the problem?

I think it is more that there is no real rhyme or reason to it. There are plenty of high level mobs really close to lower level ones which makes you think the area around it would probably be a similar level.

No level scaling has its drawbacks, but the alternative is far worse in the long run. In the end, it leads to a more varied and interesting gameplay experience, where there are player-driven dips and climbs in difficulty that will naturally change between playthroughs. The alternative - level-scaled encounters - leads to monotony and boredom, which is something you never want in a 100 hour game.

Just keep in mind where you couldn't go for later on, when you'll be ready for 'em.

No, but these are enemies that are all right next to each other. I have to hop all over the map to find enemies in my level range. Just a bit inconsistent.

Even Dragon Age and other RPGs have enemies of similar levels in an area. Witcher 3 does not for whatever reason.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
We'll God fucking dammit. God fucking dammit.

This fucking stupid game forced me into this fucking sidequest that I have no fucking way to get out of and my sword is damaged and almost unusable and I am surrounded by these enemies that are 20 fucking levels higher than me.

Fuck this goddamn stupid ass bullshit.

You don't have multiple saves?

The game doesn't force side quests

Why are you doing a quest with enemies 20 levels above you

How do people not have 300 different saves in a rpg?

I asked this yesterday I believe, didn't get much response.

Any tips on making coin? Everything I have goes in to repair my god damn sword, that thing needs repairing all the time.

Sell hides to the inn keeps. General vendors will give like 24 for a horse hide, inn keeps will give like 39. It adds up with all the pelts, furs, hides. When they're out of money continue playing the game and check back later to see if they've re-upped. Other than that I've just been selling all the equipment I've been finding and am starting to feel like I've amassed a decent amount of money. I find it strange that weapon repair is costing you that much though, because I don't find myself spending a whole lot on it. I'll repair a weapon maybe once before finding something to replace it.

Quests have level requirements, you know. Stock up on weapon repair kits if you want to avoid this in the future.

I see.
Yeah, I kinda understand that. I had to run around the area to pass high leveled enemies sometimes. I have no problem with it though, it adds to the immersion for me instead.

I haven't found any forced side quests in the game so far.
It's an open world game, just run.

No other weapons in your backpack? No repair kits?

He'll need more than a few repair kits if he wants to kill enemies 20 levels above himself.

True. I sort of zeroed in on the broken weapon bit.

I'm inching closer and closer to blind-purchasing the Witcher 3 Season Pass. Gotta say, if anyone's earned my trust it's CD Projekt post-Witcher 3.

This game is brilliant. Having a lot of fun.

It runs pretty well on my 670 as well, at 30fps, i have most things at high, and detail at ultra. Grass density and draw distance a little lower.

Is this just because i'm in the starting area?

Its the heavy sword. Haven't found a replacement for it yet. I'm level 9.

This damn game. Just when I think I've activated all the quests I can post main game I walk into a new village and four new ones appear. It never ends! (I don't want it to either.)

so apparently switching to fullscreen made my all of my stuttering problems go away and now I'm running 60 fps when I was getting 45...ahah...after 65 hours, I could have just done this :(.

No, the game is just well optimized for both low end and higher end PCs.
My HD 7870 Ghz can also run the game on high-ultra settings at 30 fps.

Yes. Horribly. She is impaled on a Stake in Heirarch Sq.

You find her impaled Cannibal Holocaust style in the middle of Novigrad.

Goddamn.
Good thing I told her to hand the papers over to Geralt.

I don't get all the hate people have towards her. Yeah, she used Geralt for her own gain but it wasn't really that bad. I had no issues forgiving her.
She was a total qtpie, though. That helped a bit.

It's probably not helping matters that, as of 1.04, the PC version still defaults to borderless windowed mode on every launch. Bit of a pain to switch it to fullscreen every time.

Also this. The log shows the level of the quest

To be fair, sometimes if you're out exploring, you run into one of these quests and trigger it unknowingly. I remember exploring a cave and killing a bunch of enemies my own level, until I was confronted by one 20 times that. I tried fighting, but couldn't put a dent in it no matter how many times I struck the beast. Thankfully, it was easy enough to run out of the cave and I have multiple saves. In a game that heavily encourages exploration, it's a valid complaint if you can't escape such an area. I'm curious which side quest the poster is referring to that he can't get out of.

How does armour/armour piercing and all that jazz work? I wish it'd tell me how much resistance it adds. Like how much better is something with 27 armour compared to something with 15?

It's really sad to hear my 670 as a "low end" card ;(

I guess it has been about 3 years though. Still, I think it can go a few more, just not with all the extra effects.

Yeah game drops like 20 frames on borderland windowed for me on my SLI 970s, fulls creep it's always 60 (well mostly)

People hate on Keira for whatever reason but I think she's fucking rad. I love some of her banter.

What the fuck? She's sassy as shit, I loved her. Great voice acting too

Might as well wait until it comes out or more info. No point in rushing it.

Haha I didn't mean that at all.
I was talking about my card which is considered as the game's minimum requirement. :p

One of the expansion is going to add another region to the world map.
It's worth it.

Yeah but DAI's DLC did the same. I have zero interest in going back for more of that. The core game here is a lot better but even still, I don't think CDPR will be too hard done by, waiting for my $25.

I'm in the same boat as you though. It's getting more and more tempting.

I'll be happy if they "just" added a map as small as the White Orchard for the expansion.
And I believe they'll deliver a bigger one.
Blood and Wine, a 20-hour tale that will introduce the all-new in-game region of Toussaint, will take Geralt to a land untainted by war, where an atmosphere of carefree indulgence and knightly ritual masks an ancient, bloody secret.

I wish this game would give an explanation of all these damn stats, it's frustrating me. How useful is armor piercing? If I have one sword with 30 damage + 30 armour piercing vs a sword with 40 damage, which should I use??
