finished the game :3

pretty good for the most part

the prejudice against nonhumans really fucking sucks. if I didn't save the mages, they'd get killed instead. there's no right side to this :(

Yeah, I didn't kill it.

it was still terrifying.
It was a very powerful scene to me. Again kudos to the voice acting as well. And whoever says Geralt has no emotions is full of shit. Cool as he has his outward appearance, you could still see signs of him being quite unnerved and horrified by the whole situation.

To clarify a little bit on the menu thing: it slows down in your inventory, when you go between the tabs of items (weapons, useables, etc.), and yeah it's not really much of an issue.

Some might also say the loading screens are long, however the game only has one loading screen really, unless you die, in which case you'll see another one. The loading screen when the game starts (which again is the only one), is about ~20 seconds; which is less than the initial loading screen for The Last Of Us.

So all in all, it runs pretty great. I have no major complaints at all.
20 seems pretty good. Bloodborne was terrible when it first came out, and since there's a lot of dying it got old real quick. Downloading the patch right now.

Indeed.

I'm one who can't stand the stories in most games. I skip cutscenes in 98% of the stuff I play. But I've been paying attention to everything in Witcher 3. Haven't skipped a scene yet. Writing and voice acting are really good. That scene was terrifying.

I have to wonder if they wanted Mark Addy as the baron. I believe they even mentioned hunting a stag or something like that in one of the conversations.

One of the best, most nuanced quests I've ever experienced in a game.

In some dumb, delusional feeling because I want to play Witcher but I'm waiting for the patch, I just bought Arcania on PS4...

This is one of the worst games I've ever played.

*kills endless wild beasts and ungodly monsters

*cant take more than 3 punches from some random drunkards

sounds about right

Yeah, the writing in this whole quest has reached a level that is so so rare for games. It keeps you guessing yet doesn't become tiring or feel pretentious despite all that is going on. I still haven't finished it yet, but I'm eager to see how the whole thing resolves itself and what my decisions end up causing.

Also if Geralt falls off a small rock he dies :P

Yup, those forced boxing sessions are annoying.

Look, Geralt doesn't have time for these peasants. Raise a hand against him and heads are getting chopped off.

Thought I was a genius or something and reloaded the Kings Gambit save and took a slightly different path. Still locks up so I can't progress. Shit.

Anyone know what time this patch is supposed to hit?

If you're getting hit by random drunkards, you deserve the KO. :P

Punches are hella easy to parry.

1 on 1 its fine, its when they gang up on you. Also yeah the ridiculous fall damage

I can probably only spring for one more $60 game this year. Should it be this? I don't have a massive history with RPGs, but I finished Mass Effect 2 and sunk 100 hours into Skryim and absolutely cherish both.

Edit: Clarification, PC version.

no word on the patch? tuesday has come and gone :/

Not sure if I ran into the XP bug or not...

Are you supposed to get XP points for talking to Emhyr right before traveling to the Isle of Mists?
Didn't give me xp, but if you don't get a massive amount of xp after
Kaer Morhen conclusion
then you have it.

I hate those eternal fire priests always throwing insults at me, so I tried to attack one but the guard got upset and attacked. I was level 20 and he was level 34 but I still managed too beat him felt very satisfying.

On the subject of guards, has anyone noticed that the guards are always 13-14 levels higher than you and when you beat them you don't kill them instead just knock them out.

I'm still in White orchard lol, about to get out since I went back for my Viper Silver Diagram :)

Sold a few honeycombs after paying for the Emerald dust too and picked up all the Gwent cards from the Inn lady.

"A small mistake like falling of a rock can be life threatening in a survival situation. Excuse me while I drink my own piss".
Geralt Grylls

Be sure to open the map screen when you reach your next destination and prepare to be sucked

:D

Which platform? I'd wait and see how game comes around after patching. The characters are wonderful but tt's too buggy to recommend in its' current state. I stomached the broken quests, frequent crashes, audio and camera glitches but having all of my crowns after 30 or so hours of game play has sapped my will to continue.

edit: PS4 here.

Tried that. Didn't work for me :(

That sucks. :( At least it's getting fixed soon.

I've done about as much as I can in Skellige right now. There's a few islands I haven't fully explored yet and some stuff I can do later, but it's time I get the story moving forward again.

So odd to be back in Velen and Novigrad, though. After traversing Skellige for half a week it almost feels like an entirely different game.

My mistake. PC

You can probably work around some of my bigger issues with the game on the PC and it will probably get the best support from the developer not to mention the community. The combat is pretty dull (think Assassin's Creed or Batman) but the characters and quests are all really interesting.

lol at comparing the combat to assassins creed. let me guess, youre just using the sword and nothing else

Is there a good site for character builds and ability point allocation? I'm level 5 but got a bunch of points from places of power and I'm just starting the second area. I've spent my points in a few things but not sure if I'm doing the best I can do. Just want some examples. Thanks!

Depends on what kind of build you want really. Sword/Signs/Alchemy. Each will do you just fine.

Tried that. Didn't work for me :(

Got it once, reloaded a save I made literally seconds earlier and lo and behold, bug disappeared.

Yeah I've been trying it a few different ways and its not working for me. Oh well. Gotta be up super early for work anyway so just calling it for today. I get out of work at noon tomorrow so hopefully the patch is out by then (doubt it).

Yeah I just wanted some examples. Would you focus on one discipline or mix it up? I'm focusing on signs but having trouble utilizing them all effectively. Though it's easy to clear bandit camps by mind controlling them all :)

You'd be wrong.

so if youre using the other stuff how can you possibly compare it to assassins creed of all things?

mind you im not saying Witcher's combat is amazing, far from it, but come on

Just finished the game. Wow.

It's so fucking great. And I'm really happy with my ending too.

Got the "Ciri is alive and became a Witcher" ending

That's the vibe I get from the majority of encounters. Granted, you have a lot more options that Assassin's Creed but that hasn't made the game any more interesting. I was playing on the hardest difficulty level which forces you to use all of the tools at your disposal. I was always thankful whenever I could use Axii to avoid combat all together (thought it's pretty useful in combat as well).

I love this game so much that I actually ordered a guide. Once done I'm going to replay it and 100% it. I haven't used/bought a guide in a very long time.

If you're focusing on Signs, make sure to grab the perk that let you cast signs with Adrenaline points, and the one that builds adrenaline from Sign attacks. While you still need to use your sword and bombs, you should be able to start throwing out magic left and right.

Being able to pop off 3 or 4 signs in quick succession is super fun, and can easily turn the tide of a battle.
