down for a lot of people on xbox atm. Their support is aware of it, probably some licensing issue that got mixed up with the new dlc going up.
Yeah it happened to me too, found this post on reddit. Game crashed right at the end of a quest, god knows when I saved last!

I just crafted all that stuff last night... its great to no longer look like a jester.

Haha yeah before getting better Witcher gear my character was a monster murdering clown running around the swamps of Velen.

Now I'm sporting the Feline Armor set...so good.

I completely disagree with the writer. It feels like some people are trying to project racial diversity that exists in America (all these social critiques tend to be written by Americans) onto medieval Northern Kingdoms. People did not make this argument when Lord of the Rings was released? Why is that? This is a game written by a Polish author, inspired by Slavic and European folklore.

Witcher games actually deal with the ramifications of racial inequality and ruthless human nature better than any other RPG. Intolerance is an integral part of the journey and in my opinion the game does not make light of it.

To say that this game is not historical is complete nonsense. The world is heavily influenced by specific history and culture and I don't know how Polygon fails to understand this.
Yeah I don't wholly understand where all this criticism of The Witcher series being "whitewashed" and all comes from. It seems to come from a lack of ignorance of where the series came from. Granted, I haven't read the books but I know very little, just that they were written in Poland and from a quick google search will probably tell you it's based off Slavic mythology. So while I understand that writers' concerns I think it's a little shortsighted to try to accuse the game of something when it's mostly an adaptation.

I think it might be better served at settings that aren't already set in stone, for a lack of a better term, like maybe Dragon Age. Haven't touched that series in a while but I'm sure that's probably a better way to spend their time.

I honestly sympathize with what the writer is trying to say but a game based on The Witcher might as well basically like a game based off LOTOR or GOT, the game creators are kinda tied to the series' creator's setting, so maybe try not to accuse the devs of whatever at the very least. Especially when all of The Witcher games have gone above and beyond tackling subjects that games won't even dare skim the surface of.

Is there any quest arc that takes you to the guarded temple thing area near the Nilfgaardian camp in the south east of Velen? I never went there, and can't get in.
It's a Nilfgaard whorehouse, you can get in with a fancy outfit but there's nothing in there. I believe you were supposed to enter Velen through the Nilfgaard camp, still wearing the fancy outfit you just received in the scene prior, and that there was supposed to be a quest in there that was dropped (or moved to DLC).

Hey, you can kill two birds here... Try if the new Nilfgaard armor works. (But bring an outfit from the elf in Novigrad, because I know his work.)

It is a 6/6 set, right? Not a 4/4? If so I might be missing two pieces but I already created the chest, boots, trousers and gauntlets.

Am I missing something or do I need some sleep?

Many people who read books say that they don't like Triss and prefer Yennefer, why ? I just know
the relationship between Triss and Philippa
but that's all.

I can see the "OP will surely deliver" use out of this already. That or #dead

So I just got to Novigrad but someone said I should go to Skellige as well to get to know Yennifer?

Should I do that? Or just finish Novigrad and then go to Skellige. Without spoilers, could anyone advise?

I think it's safe to go to Skellige at around level 16. Before that it might be too hard

~139 hours, take 10 maybe for idle, to do majority of side quests and all main quests along with a significant portion of points of interest. Took about 5 more hours to clean up leftover contracts/quests.
Without spoiling anything, can I carry on uncovering the ? and do side quests after the main arc is complete?

How do you get the level 29 Termerian armour? I'm level 31 nearly 32 yet the seller only has level 4 Termerian.

Just did Towerful of Mice....
damn, that ending. I got the "kiss" ending and it was honestly pretty rough, I got pretty sad seeing that horrible thing gripping him and thinking about what happened to her.
Really great quest.

some of these quest lines are not well thought out. Level 11 quest that dead ends until you go to Skelliage at level 16. No notification of where or how you continue the quest.

Pretty sure you can to Skellige anytime, via Novigrad, so feel free to continue it. Just might get your ass whooped though!

Anyone having trouble with exclamation points on the map not activating when you try to talk to the NPC? I have a few that won't start, they'll just give canned dialogue.

One in particular, a group of people knocking on a door by the southern entrance to Novigrad. What's funny is the door is wide open, and the guy is knocking on thin air...lol.

Do you need to come back at a specific time, talk to someone else first, something like that?

I recall there being a couple of quests pertaining to the main story left to do in Velen / Novigrad when that became available. You done with Whoreson Jr. and Dandelion?

Are there no in-game maps for mastercrafted feline and griffin armor? I guess they just want you to find them on your own? :p

I think you can buy treasure maps from merchants. Otherwise, I have 0 clue how they appeared in my quest log.

Yeah, I picked that one up as well. "Following the Thread" I think? Pretty weird.

I think a lot of this is a byproduct of people like me avoiding the main questline due to the XP bug.

Can you go to Skellige before finishing the Novigrad main quests without penalty (quests failing, missing out on something, that kind of thing...)?

yup that's the one! I still have to finish the Junior stuff and I can't do Following the Thread too.

I went to Skellige before finishing the Dandelion questline in Novigrad and with a series of unfinished side quests and I had no issues. Could be that certain quests I had already completed may fail, but just going to the islands earlier on should be fine.

They're level dependent. If you're too low level, the maps won't show up at merchants.

Interesting. Guess I'll just use a guide. I'm level 29 and want to clear that stuff up right quick. Also gonna have to make some room in my shit if I intend to craft ursine stuff.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
Have I mentioned that the combat in this game is the most broken piece of shit fucking thing in existence?
yes, I have. Repeatedly.
It is soooo bad. So I was working my way up a clif on Skrillege with very tight walkways and there are of course flying enemies show up forcing me to go into combat mode. Being as careful as possible knowing full well that the combat was going to try its hardest to fuck me I was able to shoot the enemies down and very carefully hit them. Geralt reverts to his no combat state and I go about picking up the loot in the nanosecond before I pick up the last one Geralt goes into combat mode and ends up performing a roll....right off the cliff.

Come on GAF, seriously defend this piece of shit combat system...

I'm pretty sure there is no event in Skellige that has any relation to Velen/Novigrad in the sense that developments could cut quest arcs short or lock you out.

Basically you, the player, have freedom to tackle each of the three Search for Ciri quest arcs whenever you like and in any order at no real penalty to each other. If you really wanted to you could ride straight to Novigrad pay 1000 crowns and get on a boat to Skellige and make that your first objective.

It's kinda easy to trick yourself into looking at Skellige like "level 3" that should be tackled after cleaning out Velen: Level 1 and Novigrad: Level 2, but it's not like that. Most quests in Skellige are geared higher than early quests in Velen and Novigrad, but there's no real penalty to heading over whenever you like. In fact, I was if anything surprised at how low level many of the Skellige quests were upon my first arrival due to how much levelling I'd done in Novigrad and Velen.

Thanks!

I guess I'm just going to head to Skellige and play some Gwent until this XP thing gets sorted out. I guess it would update quests if something fails, so may as well try it out.

I'm actually pretty close to being overleveled to the point that the mainline quests I'm holding out on due to the XP glitch will not yield any XP due to being too low of level...lol. What a mess.

Christ. I cannot decide between Triss and Yen. Problem is that I barely know Yen, because I did not read the books. However, I played a ton of the Witcher 2 and learned to love Triss quite a lot.

First, I let Triss go, because I thought that was the most sensible thing to say. After all the fiasco, she often told me that she wants to forget the past and later that she wants to rescue the sorcerers at all costs. Therefore, I decided not to make the farewell harder than it naturally is. However, I did not realise that this would affect the whole relationship, I thought we would have on more chance.

For me, letting her go is the more satisfactory choice and thing to say. Even though, I would love being together with her.

It's really unfortunate, that I barely know Yen. The prolog did not give to many hints about what kind of person she is. I would like to explore their relationship a bit more, before deciding.

If people don't pay a lot of attention during Witcher 2 it can be hard to fully understand the situation. How Geralt sacrificed himself for Yennefer, how they spent an eternity in Avalon after they were saved by Cirilla and so on.

Yennefer is his one true love and Cirilla is the adopted daughter who traveled through space and time in order to bring them back from the dead All this is kind of lost in the trilogy, because it is only referenced and you can read about it via lore entries. But all these relationships exist and they have substance. Yennefer is not your run of the mill loving wife though, she is a powerful sorceress who is involved in politics.

Triss is not as dynamic as a character. In the games she is somewhat sympathetic but also a bit selfish. Triss was there at Kaer Morhen when Ciri grew up. A sister figure of sorts, she knows about Avalon and how grandiose the story is but kind of disregarded that when Geralt lost his memory. I don't blame her for loving him and seizing the opportunity when it presented itself but she is the definition of a third wheel. Without the tragic events that occurred in the Hanged Man's Tree, when Geralt surrendered willingly in order to save Yen, Triss would not even be in the picture.

All of that backround on Triss really helps to flesh out as to why she was so composed when you meet back up with her in W3. She knew she was in the wrong, even jokes about taking advantage of Geralt.

Looking forward to my second play through where I see how things play out with Yen. Seeing her
do heartbroken after turning her down in The Last Wish
has really left an impression on me.

This game. This glorious game.

I can't believe this patch for the xp bug isn't out yet.

I really don't feel like playing the game if I'm not getting xp for completing quests. I'm currently stuck in a ! quest that's not giving me xp so I can't play until it's fixed...

How much do the ! quests usually give anyway? 40xp?

They should have hotfixed it.

finished "the last wish" quest...
sure the developers didn't hide at all what they consider the canon couuple..too bad i had to be sincere since i already choose triss ..felt a bit like a bastard

XP bug be damned. I'm going to push through and finish the game. It's too damn good.

I hit lvl 22 last night and I'm in Skellige. I think I'll be okay from here on out. It's seems the XP big is really affect Novigrad quests.

Agreed, Griffin 2 armor was the best, once I upgraded to 3 I was like..oh neat I have chain mail I guess...but I look ridiculous.

I wish that the kaer morhen armor could be continuously upgraded throughout the game and have a full set to go with it because I still think that armor looked the best.

I almost went for the feline armor, but I think it only looks good at level 1 and 4.

Bear armor looks kinda shitty until level 4.
