This game just continues to impress me

Skellige is INCREDIBLE

Just did a side quest on Skellige called
Possession
and it took around 45 minutes - 1 hour, including the talking which is fine because it was all interesting and this was a SIDE QUEST with a interesting story.

Absolutely amazing. Not only are we given so much content but also quality at the same time.

This game is just amazing.

well i just finished that tower quest for kiera and (spoilers for her questline)
i can't believe i had to kill her. i made the sex with her to be sure but then i demanded the research back at the tower after and she starts going all in on me.
i did not see that coming . this game continues to blow me away

You could have just
sent her to Kaer Morhen

way to be diplomatic breh

I wonder if I was scripted to lose that first match. Not only did he get freakishly good cards, I was given the absolute worst possible cards that gave me no chance. I just laughed it off.

It's possible to win I think, but you need a really strong deck for the tournament. Every contestant has incredibly powerful decks.

Geriatrics acting like high school darlings? I've seen cuter, definitely less dumb.

We're not really discussing anything sensitive, but I'm spoiler tagging just to be safe.

I never expected sophisticated romantic expression from either of them. Geralt's an emotionally stunted mutant who has lived almost a century as a social outcast in a society that considers him increasingly irrelevant (though this isn't as much of a plot point in the games). Yennefer has always been aloof and critical to an extreme degree. Given the characters' respective backgrounds and the chaotic and often adversarial nature of their relationship, the direction CDPR approached those scenes with was appropriate (and, yes, cute).

Read the bestiary entry for werewolves. If you don't have that yet, the bomb
Devil's Puffball
will stop its regen.
Thanks for the tips. I just quit the quest for now. He barely beat me twice with no regen then the next 10 attempts it was constant regen. I need to calm down.

That first werewolf is indeed hard. Afterwards you'll have more tools available for them. Oil and the appropriate bombs and it'll get easier.

Hell the game(s) is like that really. Hardest at the beginning.

I HATE playing as Ciri. She is an underpowered version of Geralt.

I'm fighting (act 2 spoilers)
the crones.
It's driving me crazy!
I'll switch to very easy and get it done.

I have no clue how I am supposed to win these high stakes games of gwent. My first opponent dropped 5 spy cards on me and had about 20 cards in his deck before I finished the first round.

This will be fun.

Gotta build your deck to counter there cards basically.

The first time I tried the tournament I just got so frustrated, not only do you have to beat your first opponent, but the second one as well with no break to save. It's very frustrating.

The second time I came back to the quest I had the cards and decks to counter everything and only ended up having to reload twice to beat everyone.

It's a challenge, but nothing too hard if you put some real effort into it.

Are you kidding me? Her health regens like you have a Superior Swallow potion pretty much all of the time. Her charge attack will one shot most enemies, and her magic sign attack allows you to basically teleport around the room hitting people in slow motion.....

If anything Ciri is easy mode....

I have a question regarding the map for people who have played both Witcher 1 and 3. I haven't started the title yet, but the map included with 3 makes me think they really changed how the landscape of Vizima and the surrounding areas looked. Can anyone confirm that? For example; where the hell is the swamp cemetery or forest?

Also, in the Witcher 2 didn't they state the Hanged Mans Tree was in the far south?

EDIT: Looking further into this it's quite clear they cut a lot of the Northern Kingdoms out of the map. Vizima isn't even close to being in the correct spot, Cidaris appears to be completely gone.

Just keep on zapping around to evade, try not getting hit to recharge your HP.

Goddamit. Just got hit by the xp bug after completing two portions of a main quest. I better retroactively get that damn xp.

One of my biggest complaints: When a higher level quest directly leads to a lower level quest. Like... why?

I just did a Witcher contract that was level 17 in Skellige and it lead to a really cool quest line directly afterwards, but that line was level 14 for some reason.

Can I just avoid playing gwent or are there any big equipment rewards at any point? What all do you get from playing all the gwent people?

Superior Griffin Armor is sexy, I love the gold.

Yea I'm falling for the Griffin armor although I only have the enhanced version. The gold chainmail is sick looking, cant wait to get that. Ive tried all the sets and so far the Griffin look is pretty good, especially paired with the gold matching silver/steel swords.

I love the side quests in this game. I start a quest and it looks like it will be a short 10 min job only to keep getting deeper and richer in story , then an hour flies by before you finish it.

The writing and story telling are amazing.

Thread moving too fast, and I don't have enough time to catch up! Just chiming in that I did Towerful of Mice and Ladies of the Wood. This game just keeps going with quality quest after quality quest. It's ridiculous how much good content there is in this game... and I'm not even 1/4 the way through this!

The same (Act 3) fight would have you raging if you were using Geralt. She might have a more limited moveset but she's crazy strong.

Ciri is everything but underpowered. Seriously. Spam her dodge.

Outside of the Palace itself you don't get to go Vizima in W3 so they didn't alter the geography (indeed I believe the Palace and courtyard use the same geography from W1. The bulk of the game takes place in Velen which is just a small part of Northern Temeria and hasn't been in the prior games.

Seriously? She is overpowered as fuck!!

This can't be serious. She's basically godmode ON

Well, maybe i just don't get her. I'm used to geralt's signs, bombs, potions. Been playing on death march. No problem.
But when it's Ciri time. Oh god. Her health regen is slow. Where as Gerlt i can pop that instant heal potion. Besides i swear superior swallow heals faster.
And i don't like her powers.

You guys are probably right. But i hate playing as Ciri.

Hot damn this game is good! Without getting into any spoilers, could you guys let me know whether or not the order that you tackle the main quest matters? I'm in Velen and at a point where you can choose the Bloody Baron or the Wandering in the Dark quest. If you follow one through to the end, will you still be able to do the other quest line?

There is no order, Geralt often references something he already did in another quest depending on the order you do it

Even though it's possible, don't go to Skellige after Velen. I tried it and by the time you get back to Novigrad a bunch of stuff will be grey.

I'll ask again: How is Pyres of Novigrad broken, and can you avoid it breaking? Just the general gist, no big spoilers if possible. I've been putting it off, but I feel like I have to do it soon, and fuck knows when the PS4 version will get the patch...

I have a really hard time trying to get into the combat. I'm in Broken Bones difficulty, and I really hate the fact that even the most random of cannon fodder enemies can flatten my health through no fault of my own. I hate the fact that they have unstaggerable attacks, that they can break out of a combo whenever they damn well please, that their attacks land despite me clearly dodging/rolling, can initiate said unstaggerable attacks at any instant, and can spam heavy attacks one after another. It makes a lot of the enemy encounters simply a dice roll.

That combined with the clunkiness of the action timing (the really awkward pauses in attacks, sign casting, and dodging) has me really close to just lowering the difficulty permanently. I don't mind hard games, in fact I'd prefer hard games and would've loved to play through W3 on Hard (played through Witcher 2 on Dark), but man, they really freaking screwed up the combat here.

I've now gone about 4 days without playing. I can find little to scratch the Witcher itch and its driving me mad!

Why is this game so damn good :(

During the quest you have to activate a hidden button to open a secret door. When you've got the bug (like I do), the button doesn't work and you're stuck in the place where you need to escape from. There is no other way out.
And as far as I know, it's totally random.

Thanks. And then what? You just have to reload an earlier save and hope it doesn't happen again? Guess I'll just manually save before starting the quest (which I do pretty much all the time anyway) and hope for the best.

It really takes away from the experience to have to play so carefully, worrying about quests breaking and other things instead of just experiencing the world and the story. It's a shame, because underneath this glitchy mess is such a wonderful game.

Sadly I've gotta agree.
The movement is so clunky.

Played some Metal Gear Ground Zeroes last night and for an open world third person game...god the difference is day and night. Snake actually moves where you want him to.
Where as Geralt feels like a drunk with delayed reflexes.

The unstaggerable attacks from enemies are annoying, but it's the movement which bugs me more than anything.

All that being said it's still a really fun game. Just can't help but think it could've been much more.

Reloading doesn't work for me, it's broken every time.
But you can try if it works for you. If it does, perfect. If it doesn't, wait for the patch.

I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't a main story line quest. Now I can't progress the story.
