After 50 odd hours in Velen/Novigrad. Not having the people of Skellige spit at you or swear at you is a big change.

Hey bros, just a few assorted questions if you don't mind:

1. Is there any way of knowing which enemies/weapons you can and cannot block? Seems trial and error atm, found you seemingly can't block axes for example.

2. Ditto but with parrying?

Dodge/roll for any monsters bigger than you or any human with two handed weapons.

I never block, only parry for humans or dodge for monsters. Dodge and parry are better and enemies usually telegraph their attacks very easily. And I think blocking will drain your stamina which you'll need for your signs anyway. Also there's Quen, so yeah.

Guys is there an easy way to understand what to dismantle in order to get something else?
Currently I am browsing all my items which can be dismantled looking for something I need.
Example : I need Emerald dust.Is there a way to higlight it in the diagram I have and show me the things I can dismantle for it?

When you select an item to dismantle, it will show you what the type of items you get when you dismantle it. Is that what you mean?

Nope. You need to go to your favorite blacksmith or armorer to see which items give you something by dismantling them.

I wouldn't dismantle rubies for the dust, though. There are so many wraiths in this game that drop those that you are better off just selling the ruby, emerald etc. for a lot of money.

Not friendly but far more accepting.

Meh ...

I don't know if you've played the part when Geralt goes to jail because he killed the two guys who attacked him for being a stranger ... and no one wanted to defend him (except that poor guy of course).

I am looking for the opposite thing . Lets say I need something ,so I am interested what do I need to dismantle to get it .

That requires you to fully go into your inventory while you are talking with a blacksmith/armorer and highlight each item to see which item gives what.

Sadly there is no better way as of yet. Plenty of people find the inventory cumbersome, and this is just a part of it.

not that i'm aware off...also..emerald powder is an high processed material..i doubt any item would give you that by dismantling it...apart maybe from some magic weapon or armor

I just finished the game.

First of all, I got the ''Bad'' Ending which is freaking depressing. When I finished looking at the credits I opened my Strategy Guide and looked how to get the different endings.

To think it's how you act Geralt with Ciri that influence the ending (with other minor things), I would never have guessed. And the way I save my game, I think there is no way for me to backtrack far enough to try another ending.

It's either starting the game anew (took me 107h in Death's March for around 84% achievements.. I could go in Easy Mode and just rush through it) or watch them on youtube.

But all in all, it was a blast! I really loved all my way through it.

Where is the white gull formula?

Checked the herbalist in White Orchard, the Peller, and Skellige Master Alchemist with no luck. Do the inventories change over time? This has me stumped and I cannot progress my bombs.

Another question!

When you knock foes to the floor (say using Aard) I can sometimes instantly execute them, but it seems to be only sometimes it will let me do this? Or am I being cackhanded?

They're still dang antisocial. Just not bigoted about it.
Well, if you look at how many nonhuman residents there are in Skellige, you might assume that they're the biggest racists around...

Don't worry about it right now if you're on PC, because the current alchemy glitch will drive you even more up the wall once you sit down to brew multiple potions.

GAF I need your help.

I am at Now or Never part in Triss's questline.

Can I simply leave this quest to complete it at a later time after doing some main stuff in Skellige and meeting Yennefer (to decide which I prefer as a romance) and then come back to Novigrad and complete Now or Never?

Is it possible for Now or Never to fail in any way if you take a lot of time to start the quest?

Anyone else have this issue where Geralt's face is covered in flashing black blocks whenever you're in the inventory screen? I'm running a 290x.

Wait, what Alchemy glitch?

Playing on PS4. Uncovered all of the Velen ? except the monsters that are way above my level. Just getting started on Skellige but trying to find this damn formula is driving me crazy lol.

Finally got to Skellige yesterday after 80 hours. And the crazy thing is I easily could have put it off for much longer.

Man, I knew it was a whole new area with new content, but it still blew me away. Didn't expect it to be that spectacular. And the opening quest you do there is probably the best quest of the game yet, except for maybe the Baron stuff. Just the whole way they introduced Yen and the whole scene in Skellige - fantastic.

This really is one of the greatest games of all time.

Yes do that.I didnt know and I had to decide without ever really meeting with Yennefef whick sucked.I wish I new I could this.I am thinking of going to a previous save though I will lose many hours sadly

Yeah, that's what I did. One of the ledges is climbable even though it doesn't look like it should be. But the proper path is clearly through the hole in the house, I just couldn't figure out how to use it... Maybe it only opens up if you do the quest a certain way, but locking a place of power behind a situation like that sounds odd.

There is a small gap right next to that ledge between the building wall and that cliff face. You can circle to the back end of the house and get on the staircase from there.

The glitch doesn't bother me for White Gull because I only craft it as needed. It's a far bigger pain for turning less mutagens into Greater Mutagens.

Yeah it sucks that the game can pretty much force you to either choose or reject a romance before even having met the alternative...

So, basically there is no danger of failing Now or Never by waiting so long to start it right?

Reading about the outcomes of your decisions in the Bloody Baron quest, I'm confused about how I got what I got.

I freed the tree spirit, the kids were saved, and the baron and his wife left to find a cure in the blue mountains. So uh best possible ending I guess. The downwarren people are all dead, but who cares.

Thats what they told me yesterday when I asked.I am not 100% sure though. It would be pretty stupid to fail this mission unless you get to end maybe

40 hours in and I'm just starting Novigrad. Still have plenty of ?'s around Velen to hit up, but I was wanting a change of scenery. Really love the massiveness of Novigrad. Nice to be in civilization for a bit.

Restarting on Death March and discovering that you don't know any bomb or potion recipes is a downer.

It's quite hard. Going for an alchemy/light attacks build. Mainly focusing on oils.
Completely ignored the preparation part in my first playthrough.

I'm also constantly out of alcohol...

Isn't mutagen conversion straight up impossible right now? I finally have enough lessers to put a greater red in my second combat branch but now I can't make one!

I'm kinda annoyed with it because in order to brew Superior Swallow (I think it was), I need to make 2x Vitriol and the game will only allow me to make one right now. I have all of the stuff needed for all of these potions and I can't make them... Doesn't help that I found like 20-30 new recipes last night.

I like how conflicted I feel about the choices I make in the game.

I just did the Greedy God quest and
and let the monster under the ruins live, but afterwards told the villagers to peek down there sometime for a surprise.
. my line of thinking was I had no right to
to rid the town of their deity even if it was false
, but now I don't know.

So, I'm currently level 16, and was wanting to use a certain tier 4 ability. And I was 6-7 ability points short. So, even tho I have a few main quests to go in Novigrad (Get Junior and Reuven's treasure), I decided to go to Skellige to collect some Ability Points.

At the end of the day, I collected them all in Skellige. The last one was a nice climb with some platforming, and this is a screenshot from the top of that location.
Also, Skellige is BEAUTIFUL. Dat music too!!!

But thats not possible I thought.

You either save the orphans or Baron and Anna. Cant save both. What choices did you make?

I think
You must free the spirit before you visit the orphans
, but I'm not completely sure. I've heard others get the same result.

You can do it if you free the tree spirit BEFORE meeting the ladies. Apparently. Not sure if a bug in the quest logic or if CDPR intended this hidden outcome.

Man, this third act is really poor compared to the previous two. I feel like the game should have finished at
the fight at Kaer Morhen.
