This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Can I plug in multiple controllers into one Wii Remote, or do I need an extra Remote for every controller I want to use? I'm getting 2 of the HORI Gamecube controllers but have no Wii Remotes just yet so I want to make sure I don't make a mistake.

You'll need one Wii remote per controller.
Sorry, buddy.

When I Twitch stream on Xbox One, theres a little notification on the bootom middle of the screen that says how many people are watching. It doesn't show up on the strem itself but I can still see it. Can I turn this off? If so, how?

whats the deal with the doom beta? has it happened already?

i have a doom beta code from with my copy of wolfenstein that i never bothered redeeming and im not sure if i should.

Nope. id Software have only showed a demo to Quakecon 2014 attendees (which from the sounds of the viewers was positive and made it sound like Brutal Doom).

WHAT IS THE DOOM BETA? HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
We will be providing more information on the specific content and duration of the beta test at a later time.

WHEN DOES THE DOOM BETA START?
Although you’ll receive the DOOM beta key code with your copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order, the DOOM beta won’t begin until a later, yet-to-be announced date. We will contact you with news and updates surrounding the start of the DOOM beta via the email address provided during the key code redemption process.

WILL THERE BE AN OPEN BETA FOR DOOM?
Timing and availability of future beta programs for DOOM is to be determined by Bethesda in its discretion. The only current way to ensure an invitation is through pre-ordering Wolfenstein: The New Order. We will be providing more information on additional beta tests, if any, at a later time.

About the Sony Gold Headset USB Dongle. Does anyone know where the reset button is? I feel like an extreme dumbass for not being able to find it.

Not really a stupid question, I guess, but I can't access all websites since I'm at my job and I'd like to know ASAP and it's not worth a thread either. :P

Can you do local Wii U -> Wii U multiplayer in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate? I played with a friend with his 3DS, but I was wondering if you could do the same with two Wii U consoles in a room without internet connection.

It's been a while since I bought anything off the Xbox marketplace. If I have $5 in my wallet and buy something for $12, does it let me just pay the remaining $7 or do I have to load in $5/$10/$15 increments and be stuck with another balance after?

You can apply an existing balance toward it and use a credit card or PayPal account for the remainder.

So I got an email from Blizzard that states:

Battle.net Account Verification‏
Here's your verification code:
[insert code here]
This code and link will expire in 10 minutes.

Hello [insert name here]!
Please use the code in this email to verify ownership of your Battle.net account. Please enter this code into the field on the "Check Your Email" page.

You can also use this link instead of entering a code.

I haven't touched battle.net in years, so is someone actually trying to access my account, or is this spam?

EDIT: Picture of said email

Probably a wrong email? I get wrong emails from time to time. I've received some that definitely looked legit but got sent to the wrong email.

If it's like the Pulse one, there's a realllly small hole on the side that you need the world's smallest needle to push.

How do I change my psn to facebook privacy settings on my ps4/pc? When I try to upload gaming footage via Share on the ps4, the console defaults viewing access to "me only". But even though I change this to "Friends", videos end up as "Me only" on facebook so I have to manually change each video on the site. Not sure what to do about that.

I've always wondered why GAMING is capitalized in this thread title and I guess I shouldn't make a thread about it.
I always assumed that it meant that, at some point, there was a similar thread in off-topic, without the word gaming. For small, stupid questions in general. I've never seen evidence to back it up though.

The emphasis may have been added in after several people in this same thread asked irrelevant, non-gaming questions.

I'm asked to make a Battle.net account to play Heartstone but I have Diablo 3 on 360 and One. I made the transfer data thing from 360 to One, making that procedure created me an Battle.net account?

I have an Asus desktop that's probably around three years old. What would be the best thing to upgrade if I wanted to do a smallish upgrade for now before considering getting a new computer down the road. Largely looking for biggest bang for my buck to improve some game performance. Doesn't need to blow my mind or run everything at ultra. I'm assuming the graphics card would be the best thing to upgrade and I'd be open for some suggestions.

Grabbed this big gob of info from Steam.

You're better off doing a DxDiag then the steam report (Steam report only really shows us enough info about the GPU and RAM). Just type DXdiag into the search window. Also need to know your motherboard, since if it's just some random desktop you bought they sometimes come with shitty motherboards (and power supplies).

Dxdiag will show the CPU and GPU, and use a program called CPU-Z to show the motherboard (will be listed under mainboard).

Thanks for the reply. A bunch of it looks useless but since there was so much data from doing that I threw it into a document online: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1IrooLVmA6tdp81pns13Dm2ImCrSoBCwce1vqEFiUiY4/pub

Thanks for taking a look. The power supply should be fairly decent as I replaced it when I got my graphics card.

Honestly it might be worth it to consider more about getting/building a new computer fairly soon but if the graphics card would be a good investment now and it's not going to be bottlenecked by something else I could upgrade that now and then move it to the new PC later.

Edit: And here's the CPU-Z info: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1StG8mBc1HcWqs8shFpx44MyncMODnKpoPzGV14cm1f0/pub

Looks like you have an i5-650 CPU which is midrangeish. Motherboard does look a little bit on the generic side, hadn't heard of Windbond before. Replacing the CPU to anything noteworthy would require getting rid of that too so yeah, the only real upgrade option you have at the moment is the GPU. Shouldn't bottleneck you in most games to upgrade but current stuff (AC Unity and the like) will likely be hindered by the 650 even with a GPU upgrade.

There is a tonne of useful information and very knowledgeable people.

That's pretty much the info I was looking for. At least until I start considering more extensive changes, like replacing the PC I'm using entirely. But that won't come for at least a little bit.

I'm not overly concerned getting the newest stuff to play really well. It's more that I'm wanting to upgrade enough to make games a little more stable in their framerate. It doesn't bother me all that often but it's not uncommon for a game to bounce between 30-60 constantly so if I could keep things at a more steady 60 fps that'd be swell.

I'll use that thread for future questions of this nature. Thanks!

Two questions:

1. Does anyone have any idea why my UK copy of Jojo's All Star Battle, which is being played on a UK PS3 on a UK PSN account on a UK internet connection in the UK, is showing up as being Asia on my player card/in game region?

2. Are any of the Vita HD Classics and Vita PS3 ports (like Sly 4, UMVC3, Ninja Gaiden Sigma +) any good/not completely butchered compared to their PS3 counterparts? For example, I've heard the Jak trilogy is bad, MGS HD is good but only 30fps (which I'm fine with as long as it's a fairly stable 30fps), and Blazblue CS Extend is 60fps (I think, which is fantastic).

For Ninja Gaiden, best to go for Sigma on PS3 or Black on XBOX/360.

I don't have a Vita but I imagine MGS on it is decent. MGS3 was originally 30fps anyway. Due to the nature of the controls, I can imagine possibly having a tough time with some of the harder optional MGS2 vr missions.

If a console game is running at an uncapped frame rate on a 720p TV, would it get better performance than the same game running on the 1080p screen? If the game is being rendered in the console at Native 1080p anyway, is any sort of downsample applied when it scales it down to 720p?

No, normally the scaling is done by the TV which doesn't affect the performance of the game.

Sly 4 is pretty good, the only thing you'll miss is the cell shaded outline, can't say anything about the other two as I haven't played them

Thank you and thank you.

Yeah, I've never played MGS3, because I wanted the Subsistence version, never got round to getting it, then forgot about it, and I have the original MGS2 which didn't have the VR stuff, but I've heard they were meant to get really hard even on the console versions. And Sly 4 missing outlines isn't a big deal whatsoever.

can someone explain in Destiny to my why ADS effects player counts and server calculations, what has that got to do with games that use it. I ask because I hear this is why destiny has limited player count etc.

Can you track a club Nintendo Reward? I ordered a game case from them, but have no idea how I can track the order. I see it listed under my account but can't see it's status (i.e. shipped, in-transit, out for delivery etc...)

they email you when it's shipped, no tracking # though. Mine went to gmail's spam folder so I didn't see the email until after I received the game case.

yeah same, I got the email sent to my spam folder too, but I was more so wondering if you could see where the package actually was like you could on Amazon for example. I guess not huh? :(

doesn't look like it. How long has it been? I'm in the US and received mine much faster than I expected.

What is it about Wizardry that it went to Japan and proceeded to never come back?

Always disappointed that it went from being THE CRPG that defined a generation's WRPGs to a JRPG IP that is never localized.

Except for that one MMO a few years back... That SOE shut down after a few months.

Any chance of a "new" 2DS?

I've owned both the 3DS & 3DS XL in the past, and found them about as ergonomically inviting as a spike covered cube, but the 2DS... The 2DS just suits my hands perfectly, and I'm really chuffed to pieces with it. It's a stupid question, because it kinda makes no sense given the primary target Nintendo is aiming the 2DS at, but it's the only way I'll even consider upgrading.
