This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

I bought as SMG2 for wii U not realising I'd need a wii remote to play.

What is the difference between wii remote and wii remote plus?

I'll likely only use this for this game so if I can keep it cheap as possible that would be preferred. Hoping the "standard" is sufficient.....
Wii remote plus is a wii remote with motion plus built into it. It makes the motion controls Busch more accurate for games that utilize it. As far as I remember, SMG2 doesn't utilize motion plus, so go crazy if you can find a regular wii mote on the cheap. If you plan on playing Skyward Sword and other motion plus games, though, her the Wii remote plus.

There's currently a Tales of Xillia and Tales of Graces f bundle for 14,99€ on the PSN store. I only played Tales of Vesperia so far (which I liked) and I really want to know if they are worth it and how they differ from Vesperia.

Is using a pc/laptop on the Xbox one's hdmi input still a laggy and frustrating experience or has that been fixed?

If I want a back up vita for my OLED version, am I going to notice the lack of oled. If I get the borderlands 2 bundle will I hate the vita included?

Any chance of the Rise of the Triad sequel/remake thingy seeing a Ps4/Xbox One port? Been really curious to try it and without a gaming PC for sometime.

I tried searching around but couldn't really find any info.

What's the rules on magazine scans and threads? I have a magazine from 2001 that has a preview of a cancelled PS1 game that doesn't seem to have any real coverage on the net. I'd like to share it but don't want to get banned.

EDIT: might just send it to Unseen64 and post it in the PS1 appreciation thread rather than making a new thread.

Is it possible to add a microphone to a regular pair of sennheiser headphones hooked up to the Xbox one stereo headset adapter?

I have unsubscribed from the kickstarter newsletter for games that I've backed. Will I still get info when they are done and ready to deliver?

I'm playing Tomb Raider (2013) and was curious if there are any mods...well, not mods, but tweaks. I could have swore I remember there being a fix that displayed the keyboard button rather than the hand or whatever icon during QTEs (Dear QTE, I hate you. Love, Me.), but I can't find anything.

Also, is there anything like the one for Far Cry 3, where the menu sound effects are removed? The loud sounds switching between tabs or selecting things in menus that they seem to put in games more often now is so damn annoyingly loud.

This is my third time trying to play the game, and I'm actually having fun now. I just had to tell myself that it's not really a Tomb Raider game (not an insult, I just mean the style is completely different), it's a fun shooter. I ditched the controller since platforming accuracy isn't important at all, and the shooting is almost too easy with that sweet mouse aiming. :D I am seriously getting Far Cry 3 vibes from the game, while the control reminds me of Splinter Cell Blacklist.

I've purchased DS Lite pouch for my 3DS and now can't help but wonder - are DS accessories compatible with OG 3DS? Measurements are about the same, sure, but these borders bother me:

Why isn't NA getting blue n3dsxl?

I'm so upset right now. The blue looks gorgeous.

I guess their research came up with black and red being the most popular choices right now. I personally like the red one over the blue one. But they'll probably release more colors including the blue one later on.

Does Club Nintendo in Europe get any platinum awards? And, if so, how many stars would I have to get to reach platinum? I've tried googling it but only find stuff about the US club Nintendo platinum.

I am getting an xbox 360 in a few days. Will i be able to somehow get witcher 2(which is free right now for gold users) through my pc if i also buy an xbox live gold subscription?

dumb question:

If I buy a new white Xbox One right now, is it going to work right out of the box without having to connect to the internet first?

Can I just pop in say a physical copy of Forza 5 GOTY edition and start playing?

(It's ridiculous that I even have to ask this, isn't it`?)

If you already have an xbox live account with gold, you can just sign in on xbox.com and purchase the free game. Then when you get your 360 and login with that same account, download it. If you don't have an account with gold yet, you've only got until the end of this month which is when the Witcher 2 deal expires. You can create this stuff before you get your 360 though, just make the account on xbox.com and buy or apply your gold membership

Yeah, it is ridiculous that this is ever a concern. Unfortunately, I don't have a great answer. I didn't really try.

But their line has been that you need to connect once before you can play normally. So it's probably gonna be a no. When doing setup, it seems like it asks you for connection info before you can proceed.

On the upside, most games I've tried have worked without being connected. Dead Rising 3, Sunset Overdrive, and Project Spark all played fine with no Internet connection. In fact, staying offline probably saved me from wasting a bunch of time downloading updates. If you put the game disc in, it will try to download and install updates along with the normal install. This can take quite a long time, depending on the game.

I'd like to know this as well. Well.. for my X360 bc I dl'd Tales of Vesperia and I can't play it bc I'm required to connect online? But it's already dl'd into my console?

I am interested in getting Dragon's Dogma, but given how multiplats always were a bit shaky on PS3, I wanted to know if the PS3 version is playable and enjoyable or if it's absolutely recommended to get the 360 version instead?

Because I prefer the Playstation 3 by a mile, but I've been burned by too many bad multiplat ports for it already.

I played about 50 hours of the PS3 version and didn't run into any problems. The framerate isn't amazing in either the PS3 or 360 version, but is definitely playable.

Thank you. I have a normal account right now not a gold one.I will buy a gold one though until tommorow so i can purchase the game for free and play it next week.

Here's one: What are the chances that someone from the Twitch community will call the cops on me if I do a stream where I light up a nice fat one with my buddies and play a marathon of Smash 4/MarKart8/MetPrime2 with the gimmick of us being absolutely baked?

Only asking this because I checked a few of my favorite channels that were big on being lit when playing games, pretty much all of them were closed for ToS violations.

Why does the Playstation Store refuse to open sometimes? Or at very least, takes a minute to open and doesn't load menus for another 30 seconds a pop. Checked internet in settings, seems fine. My computers rock n rolling like normal. Just the Playstation OS just bug out sometimes? It's the blue screen with no loading bar and the O button that doesn't work.

I have this occasionally.... Tends to go away with a cold reboot.

I'd say it depends entirely on where you're located and who your audience is. If it states in the channel description that the video features drug use, people can't click it and be shocked and disgusted that you're smoking a joint. Again, though, depends where you live and whether weed is legal there.

Very little provided you don't advertise your location. And even them extremely small since generally the people that happens to are really popular.

Might get someone to report you for violating the TOS, but not the cops.

I should know this, but...

How do you play a game on the PS3 without installing its trophy set? I recently bought some old sports games (NHL '11, Madden '10, MLB The Show '12) and would like to just give them a try without cluttering up my trophy list with a bunch of 0% and 3% figures.

Does the WiiVC work on WiiU? Like the shop and stuff if I wanted to buy things from it?

I want to know if I can get Majora's Mask from it.

You can't, but you could just play them on a different account.

Yes, there's a separate "Wii mode" than can be used just like a Wii. You can get to the Wii Shop from there and buy Wii VC games.
Edit: Keep in mind you need a Wii Classic Controller to play N64 games in that. A WiiU Pro Controller or the GamePad don't work.

Why in the blue fuck isn't there some kind of sorting system for the PS4 home screen? Everything's jumbled around in a horizontal row and it shows apps like Amazon Video even though I don't have it downloaded.

Is there anyone online who compiles the PS4 "splash screen" images for games? Right after you hit start and it shows some key art for a few moments. SO many of these are fantastic and would make for perfect backgrounds but most games give you "you can't take a shot here" if you try to.

Can someone pleaseee help me (PS4 question).

Is there ANY way to block game invites on a particular game? I get lbp invites probably once every 15 minutes. It's really annoying and it will gather up then release a slew of like 40 notifications when I sign on. I cant seem to find any option for this and I dont know what to do...

Looking for last second PS4 advice. I kinda regret not getting the Black Friday Bundle, but the deal on Amazon seems OK right now ($400 PS4+TLOU+1year PS Plus). It's like swapping GTA5 (a game I do want) with a subscription. There is also a deal on newegg (ebay) for $350, but doesn't come with TLOU code or anything, so I'll pass on that. Does anyone know of any other deals I may have missed? Think it would be better to wait a while?

Only part that sucks is that I thought when you signed up for PSPlus, that you gained access to a back catalog of free games, but reading into it a bit, I guess you only get the games during the months that you are signed up. Kinda a bummer, since a bigger catalog to start with would have been nice.

Thanks for the answer! You just saved me 400 bucks :)
Guess I'm jumping back in whenever Microsoft releases a slim Xbox One, because the huge form factor of the XB1 is really off-putting to me.

EU GAF, I've preordered N3DS, so I have a few questions about eshop.

I'd like all my games to be in english and I'd like to pay in euros (prices in pounds are a rip off). Is it enough for me to set the system language to english and choose any EU country where eshop is available, or should I target, for example, Ireland (where, AFAIK, you get to pay in euros). Is there any price difference between EU eshops (where prices are in euros)?

I've never owned 3DS before, so I have no idea how this works.

Just forgot my copy of Destiny at home, looks like I won't be playing it until March :/

Which game should I pick up until The Order?

- Dragon Age
- GTA V
- Metro Redux

Have you played GTAV at all already? If not, then GTAV

If yes, then Dragon Age Inquisition if you can stomach repetitive questing as I believe that's one of its main detractions

I hear metro redux is pretty great though so can't go wrong with that either

I have a GTX 780.
When I use Geforce Experience, I can optimize certain games to use DSR.
All the guides I've found to manually set DSR are for a 900 series card using the Nvidia Control Panel.
In my Nvidia Control Panel, there's no option for DSR.
How do I manually set DSR using a GTX 780?

Also, DSR is making my menu and Steam overlay really small.

Infamous Second Son for $20 and Driveclub for $40 on amazon right now. I don't think I can buy a racing game without trying it first, but any thoughts on Infamous now that it's been out almost a year? I got First Light through PS+ and my PS4 should be delivered today.

My thoughts on inFamous: it's a great game, but over pretty quick. There's a nice variety of powers. The core gameplay is a little repetitive, but fun. The game is all kinds of pretty.

At 20 bucks, I'd very much say it's worth it.
