This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Does anyone know what game this is? I thought Wild Arms at first but I don't think that's right...

Has a Torenko or Arc the Lad or Lufia vibe, but it's not those :I

I recently picked up a new 360 slim. I could only afford the 4gb one. Anyway, when I tried to install the dlc from the 2nd disc of my Dragon Age Origins ultimate edition, it said there were no memory units detected, despite the fact that I had the default internal 4gb HD and a flash drive attached.

Am I missing something stupid or does it require the 250 gb HD (for example)? Is there some way to get it to work with what I have?

Note, the dlc installed fine on my old white 360.

I'm not 100% sure, but that looks like Treasure of the Rudras.

How do things work - both legally and practically - with purchasing a second-hand PSP Go? Specifically in terms of installed software?

PSPs can only have one user account active at once. Nothing on there (if the person even leaves anything on there) will be accessible once you put your account on there.

Madworld for the Wii is currently A DOLLAR and 99 CENTS on amazon BRAND NEW.

Worth it?
Yes. It's shallow and repetitive, but play it for an hour till you get bored, and you've more than got two dollars out of it.

I'd say the movement of the body is mapped to the D-Pad. When moving left and right the mass of the character body moves in that direction. When pressing down they lower themselves. Thus when pressing up, instead of standing on tip-toes, they jump. I guess?
A dedicated jump button would be nice for fighters though, I always find myself jumping when I try to make a specific move that involves horizontal movement because joysticks are so finicky and I'm not interested enough to invest in a good fighting game controller :(

Edit: Pic above is most definitely Treasure of the Rudras. Great game, never beat it though, but it has great sprite work, every enemy is fully animated and the magic system is interesting (and exploitable)

It's $1.99 brand new. Of course it's worth it. Incidentally, for those in the UK CEX are selling it pre-owned for £2.50. Still a bargain.

I want to try new gaming RSS feeds. I've only had Joystiq and Destructoid for a long time. I tried Gamasutra; there were good articles but I got bored. Does Giant Bomb have an all-content RSS feed? What else should I try?

Does anyone know where to get US Microsoft Points ONLINE?

I'm in Australia and need to purchase the MK DLC.

Preferably somewhere that sends you an email and accepts Paypal though that's only a preferene (the former is somewhat important though)

If I bought the Japanese version of Uncharted, would I be able to get the platinum trophy for both the US and JP versions?
Yes, each region has a separate trophy list. For instance, I have three different Demon's Souls trophy sets on my account.

How come there isn't a gaming version of the Off-Topic's monthly writing contest?

You could have monthly topics like "gaming memory," "review," "new release," or something more open to interpretation

GAF is always commenting on how bad the various websites are, so why not have a thread for people to strut their stuff?

I'd read it even if I don't consider myself talented enough to contribute

What's the context and story behind that "not my problem" picture I see all the time?

To date, global sellthrough for Nintendo DS stands at over 5 million, or more than twice the level for the PSP. Now, I know what some of you are thinking: "Well, the PSP hasn't arrived in Europe yet." So we got there when we said we would, and they didn't. You know what? That's Sony's issue, not my problem.

The pic just sort of fits.

Gamerss is one I just stumbled across. It's an all-content RSS feed that also grabs podcasts.

I don't think Giant Bomb has one like that.

Im not a GFX whore by any means. But the Crysis thread about Tesseration was intresting. I wonder what Consoles do to mimic the effect even though their stuck at DX9 for at least the next few years?

Not necessarily stupid, but:

How can I get into the UC3 beta next week short of buying Infamous 2? Will the free month of PSN Plus let me download this?

They don't. Consoles are stuck with different LOD models (As you get closer to an object, higher poly models are swapped in for more detail).

why do I have to install directx runtime every time I play a new directx game on steam?
It doesn't necessarily install anything, if you've got the required version installed already, it just checks and that's it.

I remember Nintendo briefly showing something that looked like a port of Fatal Frame II at E3 last year, but I haven't seen nor heard anything about it since. Has there been any news on it?

On PS2, could you use PS1 Dual Shock controllers to play PS2 games? Discussion with a friend and we can't remember :)

It definitely wasn't optimal (you couldn't use pressure-sensitive buttons), but yes you could.

Yes you can unless the game needs the pressure sensitive feature like KH1 or MGS2.

Quick question, I'm writing a little intro to security, how long was PSN down for? All I remember was that it was around a month or 2.

MGS4 and Demon's Souls, both $20. Which one should I get?

I'm a big fan of MGS1&3 but not of 2. Very hyped to play this one but I've read so much negative stuff about it, and I feel like I'll be disappointed the same way I was with 2.

I've read a bunch of reviews for Demon's Souls but still don't really understand how it plays. Is it mostly a dungeon crawler? Just collecting stuff and leveling up? How much of it is an RPG?

Please decide for me!

What didn't you like about MGS2? That'd go a long way towards deciding what I would recommend.

I probably got more enjoyment out of MGS4 than Demon's Souls, but that is mostly because I've never had the temperament to try super hard at DS.

Demons Souls is infinitely superior to MGS4, but the latter will finalise a series you're well familiar with and for that reason is worth playing. Plus, as said, Demons Souls will possibly be made obsolete in a few months thanks to Dark Souls.

So, I'm back online & I've noticed I can't browse the internet & listen to music simultaneously on PS3 anymore. WTF happened?
Maybe the last update changed the audio output to upscaled by default, it limits your options while listening to music.

EDIT: Nop, default hasn't changed for me. But might as well check. Go to Music Settings, Output Freq and make sure it's on 48kHz.

Yep, that's what it was. Thanks for your help.

Speaking of Demons Souls .. it looks cool and I'd like to try it but I understand its brutally difficult. Is there an easy mode so I can just play through it for fun to experience the game?

Nope.

Figured i would post this in here rather than the OT thread.

I recently signed up with Lovefilm and so far its been great but its annoying how the website has more variety than the PS3 app does. Now the website doesn't work on the PS3 browser so i was wondering if there is anyway to stream from the PC to the PS3 so i could watch that selection?

I downloaded PS3 media server as some posts seemed to suggest that you could do it through that but so far i have found no way to do it.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be a great help.

The game would not be fun in easy mode anyway. It is fun b/c of the challenge. There isn't really a story or anything.

Also, the game is difficult, but it is not cheap or frustratingly difficult. Games like Ninja Gaiden are frustrating difficult where it just feels like BS. In Demon's Souls you always understand why you died and how it was your fault. Once you get a hang of the game, level up a bit, and play carefully it isn't too difficult. You just have to play smart at all times, if you try to rush you will die.
