Ok, now I'm at meta Ridley boss fight. I used up 95 missiles, 30 green missiles, and used up all my power bombs, yet I still can't beat the fucker.
Because the games want to be synchronized with the display's vertical refresh rate, which, at least going by US standards, used to be at 29.97Hz (NTSC-M). So most monitors adopted a 60Hz refresh rate (gels well with 30Hz, which roughly is 29.97Hz, so it's good enough) among other rates like 72Hz and 50Hz; most TVs adopted 60Hz for the same reason (you want to be able to display a 30Hz signal without tearing on those, and that's what comes through the air / on DVDs).funkystudent said:Why do games target ether 30 frames per second or 60 frames per second.
why dont we ever see games targeting 40 fps or 50 fps?

I'm studying software engineering and would love to have a job in the gaming industry, or movie industry. So does anyone know what specific jobs a Software engineer has in the process of game development? What areas are there and what sort of knowledge and preparation they ask?
Also another website/forum where I can take this too? And get really in-depth. I'd really love to work in gaming I just want to know how to prepare myself , me going to be an engineer.
Games that a programmed to run at 60FPS...Tizoc said:...but what would count as a game that runs at 60FPS? SSF4, MvC3, Castlevania, for example, are these 60 FPS?
Mind you the closest I got to 60 FPS is the movie cutscenes in KOEI games, those always run at 60 FPS when I view them![]()

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? I'm guessing it's something with the power supply.
Not really a stupid question, I just didn't know where else to put it. I googled it too, with no much success.

I don't remember him being black, but maybe you're thinking about Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver?man/man said:I'm trying to remember the name of a PS2 game. It was about a black dude who could sort of hop from the realm of the Living to the realm of the Dead, or something like that. I also vaguely remember being able to leech people's souls from their body. The art design had a Southern voodoo vibe to it and it was third person.
Anyone?

US PSN cards don't work on Canadian accounts. But why don't you just use your credit card to buy PSN games anyway? >_> You don't have to leave your CC info on your account afterwards if you're worried about Sony getting hacked again.EricHasNoPull said:Please halp!
I want to buy PSN Cards off of Amazon, the catch? I live in Canada, when I go to Amazon.com, I can proceed all the way to the page before the checkout, everything seems to be fine and dandy until then, price for $50 card is exactly $50 US and it even clearly states that the code will be sent to you via email, and you're good to go...BUT!
before hitting checkout I get "Just a reminder this PSN code will ONLY work for PSN accounts within the United States." Or something very similar to that..along those lines.
When I go to the Canadian Amazon, Amazon.ca I get this....
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B002P3LP3Q/
CND$109.95 for a $50 PSN card??? Plus $4.99 Shipping What the fuck!?! it's basically a joke,
Can GAF Canada show me a safe and proper way to buy a PSN card online with a credit card?
Or can any Canadian PSN user at least confirm if buying the US PSN Cards from amazon.com work with their Canadian PSN accounts? I don't want to risk buying something for 50 bucks and having it not work!
Thanks in Advanced.
Yeah if you're going to use a credit card on Amazon, you might as well use it on PSN.Roto13 said:US PSN cards don't work on Canadian accounts. The PS3 does indeed double as a PS1. I haven't had any problems playing my disc games on it, but hopefully more people chime in.outunderthestars said:So I picked up a PS3 and really want to go back and play Lunar Silver Star Story. Does the PS3 play original playstation games? Does it do well? Any issues I should be aware of?

RiccochetJ said:I just loaded up PS Home for the first time in about 2 years. Made my way into the Assassins Creed place and got into the secret area. I was immediately accosted by people dressed as Assassins to join their clan. They were actually referring to each other as 'brother'. If I am to join, I guess I need to buy the outfit for $4. The entire time this was happening I was laughing my ass off. Apparently one of them is the leader and told the other guy that he can't be friends with all recruits.
Apparently I have until tomorrow and they only ask once. Should I pony up the $4 for the outfit and see where this goes?

This might be the easiest solution if you don't want to buy one from eBay.Bukana said:Where can I find that website that lets you buy an ICO poster !?
Edit: Hey, you asked the same question last year. Didn't it work out for you? They're only $5.30 + shipping on eBay it you prefer to purchase it instead of making it yourself.Tigel said:
Doubt it, it was the same way on 360. There was a video I downloaded from the Video Marketplace for free; if I understand this right, I have to log into Zune Marketplace every time I want to view videos that are sitting on my 360's HD or MU?
On my first attempt, the login failed, and I couldn't even launch the video from the Memory window. It worked the second time from within Zune though.
What is this shit? I must be missing something.
Judging from YouTube gameplay videos, I'd say that King's Bounty or Heroes of Might and Magic are the most similar. The first two or three X-Com series also have good turn-based strategy gameplay.Soule said:What is the most similar game to Fire Emblem available on Steam?
