This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Was there a company that promised dynamic crowds for a sports game last or two E3's ago? I can't remember what game but I feel like I remember someone saying the crowd would reflect your performance over a season.

I know very little about PC gaming; when I was young I couldn't really afford a gaming PC and I never got around to it despite wanting to. Half Minute Hero 2 is Steam only right now and I need help finding out if my extremely non-gaming PC can run it

the game's requirements are:
OS: XP SP2 32bit
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz or equivalent
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 2000 or equivalent
Hard Drive: 800 MB available space

My PC has:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Processor: AMD Athalon II X4 645 Processor 3.10 GHz
Memory: 6 GB (5.75 GB usable)
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4200 (I believe it is an integrated video card, meaning attached to the motherboard)
Hard Drive: I have like 100 GB open

The video card is what worries me the most with PC gaming. I was able to play Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World on Steam just fine on this PC, but those are 16 bit style games and low demanding. Half Minute Hero 2 might be the same way but can someone look at my PC stats and tell me if I'm safe, iffy, or out of the question? It's the Video Card and the Processor I'm not sure about

Is it dangerous to have more than one console plugged into a surge protector?

My Wii, WiiU and Xnox 360 are all plugged in due to a dearth of outlets.

It's yet another simple 2D game, your rig should have no issues with it whatsoever. Probably more taxing to your CPU if anything.

Yes, at least mine did.

Huh okay I guess I must have lost mine somewehere or I simply have no idea where I put it, well it doesn't matter that much as USB charging works out well so long I watch the battery while playing FFX :P

I'm by no means a electrician so anyone correct me should I be wrong but I think surge protectors work with breakers that break during a overcurrent so it shouldn't matter how many devices are plugged in but I might be wrong :/

Stupid PS4 question.

Is there any way to set up PS4 parental controls so that you can enter the code to access locked content? Right now if I turn on parental controls, content seems to be completely locked away, no access, on all accounts. Only way to access is to turn the controls completely off again.

The Sony support pages suggest that you can turn on controls on an account-by-account basis, but that doesn't work either, they end up locked for all.

It's a weird step backwards to have to do it this way and I must be doing something wrong. (However, at least now they show the names of locked content, so you don't have to guess at what game you might be starting.)

On the Neo Geo version of Bomberman, me and a buddy went through the story mode together, and it was awesome because we could just keep re inserting credits after dying. We tried the Super Bombermans and got our asses kicked, here is the question.

Is there some way to have infinite lives in 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5? I did a Google search and none of the games seem to have cheat codes for infinite lives.

Posting here for fear of spoilers elsewhere-

How much choice or decisions from the previous episodes actually carry over onto The Walking Dead Season Two? Is it still a "promise" or have there been pay-offs already?

season 2 is only 2 episodes in so impossible to say for the whole thing. Did you lose your save or something? I think you'll be fine but the 400 days DLC does tie in

I completed it on the X360 but I got the physical copy for PS3 so went with that for Season 2.

I know if it's anything like the previous choices it wont be anything too massive, but im still worried in case im wrong.

I remember one of game developers recently stating something like "Most mechanics in video games are the result of bugs/glitches/programmers experimenting". Does anyone remember it? I tried googling for at least an hour, but it didn't help, though I remember clearly someone saying something close not long ago, probably during GDC.

Not really a gaming question, but since it involves my Wii U, I guess it's best to ask here.

I have a Hulu Plus subscription and I'm having problems getting it to work on Wii U. It was working fine a couple days ago, but now whenever I try and watch something (I'm primarily trying to watch Lupin III, but I tested out a few other shows and movies to see if it was just a problem with watching that one show), it says something along the lines of "Cannot establish connection, please check your connection" and gives me the options to "Continue", which takes me back to the episode selection, and "Retry", which tries again and still fails.

But the thing is, when I start Hulu Plus on the system, it runs and plays videos fine, but it always ends up doing this.

The only other devices I have that can use Hulu Plus are my laptop and my 3DS and those have no problems watching anything, so it seems to be my Wii U. Any help?

Thread fits me perfectly, a man made of stupid needs a sanctuary such as this.

Anyway, stumbled with this video randomly, kept watching it because i dont understand what is exactly showing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0eYtZep1Lc

Read the description but i don't understand the point been made in regards to audio. Infact it confuses me even more:

A quick example of how the Wii U uses the gamepad to blend multiple audio sources. All audio is taken directly from the gamepad headphone jack and the system itself.

Anyone could explain?

The "System Audio" in the video is playing through your TV (or surround sound) speakers.

The "GamePad Audio" is playing through the GamePad speaker.

The TV speaker plays part of the musical arrangement, and the GamePad plays the other part of the musical arrangement. (Think of your TV as playing the bass and drums, and the GamePad as playing the lead guitar; or think of your TV as playing the left stereo speaker, and the GamePad as playing the right stereo speaker). Separately they are incomplete, but together they play the full musical arrangement.

storl, thanks for the consideration of explaining it so clearly. But what is the grace or advanatage of doing that in the case of the video i posted? If any at all.

I'm not really sure. It sounds kind of neat when you're sitting down and playing; I wouldn't call it a gimmick, but it sort of is a gimmick.

The video was just showing how the GamePad and TV play different sounds, but that is kind of a confusing description they gave.

Looking for game suggestions for my 11 year old son and his friends. He's having 5 other boys spend the night so looking for something they can all play at the same time. I'll have two 360s connected to two TVs and enough controllers for all.

Rayman and Diablo?

Both couch co-op, up to four players, Diablo might be rated more adult, but it's actually really mild, it's just gothic.

Sorry, I don't know. I'm only familiar with the PC beta version of the game. You can also play it with tablets but I don't know if you can mix tablets and Xboxes together on the same server.

So two questions about the WiiU...

1-It's using the same cables as the Wii for composite/component right? I'm pretty sure it is but I want to confirm

2-If I use HDMI for display, does it output audio through the composite port at the same time too? I mostly use a pc monitor for my consoles so I need a way other than the HDMI to output the audio.

Thanks!

The cables for the Wii and WiiU are the same.
If you give me a few seconds I can test out the other question for you too :)

Confirmed, you can choose HDMI, Non-HDMI or Both as sound output.

I played Metal Slug 3 at an arcade last night. Are the sections where you get in the tank supposed to be effectively impossible if your tank gets killed?

I'm really thinking of this early boss:
metal-slug-3-b.jpg

It really felt impossible to not die on it when not in the tank you start that section with. It wasn't like "oh, I'm dodging bad" it was "oh, it rammed forward with no warning in an impossible to survive manner".

It is entirely possible I'm just terrible at Metal Slug.

My sister, who has a sudden interest in the games we used to spend alot of time as kids, is looking for the name of this one game.

It would've been much easier if I knew the name of the genre, so I'm going to try to elaborate the mechanics of it.

"You" are a helicopter who tries to "take over" a part of a platform that is filled with enemies, and your goal is to reach a certain percentage. The helicopter part is only specific for this game, so it would be perfetly adequate if I could just get the genre.

That belongs in this thread, really:

I didn't know where else to throw this but found it curious.

Anyone else think that's an odd game to be at #1? (from Amazon.ca today)

Game is hard to find and becoming rare. People are buying it up whenever it comes back in stock.
I'd be more concerned about the Ouya than anything.

No, it shouldn't use your internet bandwidth for internal usage.

A year or two ago there was a news article where one of the big internet service providers incorrectly added internal transfers towards the monthly bandwidth cap. Hopefully the backlash forced them to quit doing that.

That is awful. Hopefully it is all good now. Hope my ISP hasn't enforced that lol

What is the term for a post like this, that passively predicts the future?

I always thought an Oregon trail MMO would be awesome. No body would want to play with perma-death though =/

I wanted to reinvent Oregon trail as a modern MMORPG with people crossing the country to flee the zombie apocalypse that has overtaken the world.

^ this happened as Organ Trail, but not in 2008. I wonder if anyone else on GAF has predicted a product without really trying to do so?

This has been on my mind lately: What does "REST" stand for when used for a player's lives? I've seen it in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, but I know I've seen it in other places too.

I don't know if this is the right place for this but how do you all manage memory cards? Like do you put completed files on one card? How do you keep track? This didn't seem to be warranted asking anywhere else so I guess I'll ask here.
