This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

Odd, platinum version possibly has it on the back of the manual?

If that is not the case ring Sony Customer Support in your country. They will probably ask you to email them a copy of your receipt as proof of purchase and give you a new network code.

Looking at your profile you are in Pakistan, they didn't have an online service back in 2010 I believe, so its possible that there is no Network Pass code because you couldn't get online if you wanted to?

Also important to remember that if you imported the game, a Network Pass for the region you imported from would be required, ie if you imported from America, you need an American account and an American Network pass code to work with your game.

thank you for reply right now in saudia arbia i think they have store here so will try contacting them

I can confirm that the platinum edition has the code printed out on the back of the manual. At least mine did. Maybe they put a regular edition's manual inside or something?

So here's a pretty stupid question that's been bugging. In all of these emulators, you can force a game to run at resolutions they were never intended to be run at. But with DS emulators, this isn't an option. How come I can't, say, leverage the power of my PC so I can play Phantom Hour Glass (ignoring touch controls) full-screen on my PC? Has it just been that no one has bothered to do this? I know a 2D game blown up would look like ass, and I'm sure the textures of LoZ would be pretty garbage, but the 3D models shouldn't be a problem, right?

No doubt there is a simple answer to this. It's just been sort of bugging. Go easy on me if this is a truly stupid question.

Stupid question incomming.

I just beat Oracle of Seasons, and got the code to continue in Oracle of Ages. However, I already did beat Oracle of Ages a few years ago, stupid as I was, I though I could play them in the order I wanted. Now my question is if its worth to do a quick replay of Ages just to get to the stuff that gets unlocked by the code from Seasons. Any views on this? I am a huge Zelda-nerd, but I'm not sure if its worth it if there is almost nothing new.

You get an entirely new final boss, start with 4 hearts and a level 2 sword, iirc. And characters will call you the Hero of Holodrum and make note of your previous quest.

Is "Karnov" considered a classic NES game?

Personally its one of my faves.

It's the difference between high-level and low-level emulation, I think. I assume whatever DS emulator you're using uses LLE.

HLE is faster, so it's used in most emulators for 3D systems, like Dolphin. It's also less accurate, but that is exactly what allows you to choose higher resolutions and such - because you're not executing the system's exact code, but just something to approximate it, you can intentionally ignore parts of what the game is telling you (like what resolution to go for) and substitute your own choice. LLE is more accurate because it does what it's told exactly, but that leaves no room for alterations.

Ok cool, that's interesting. So forcing a DS game to play in a higher resolution is technically possible, it's just a matter of the kind of coding that goes into the emulator? Alright, thanks.
I still wish I could play Animal Crossing: Wild Worlds in full-screen on my laptop, lol.

Lol, so not really a ton then. As the sucker I am, I just started it anyways, that boss fight better be worth it!

I think its more regarded as either a hidden gem among the folks that like it, and a decent game from most others. Havent played it myself, but I think that perception is the reason why.

I do. But then again, I played through it when I was sick home from school, and my hazy memories of it are further augmented by the freakish fever hallucinations I was suffering from at the same time.

Does anyone know of any games that failed commercially (or did poorly) due to receiving an E rating?

In the film industry they will intentionally make a film PG-13 so that it is easier to appeal to a teenage and young adult demographic. Wondering if anyone knows of any similarities here

Is there any way to change the thumbnail on my game folder for PS3 digital content?

Play something different? The thumbnail always shows the first game, so if you sort it by "recently played" it will always be what you played last. (if you're talking about the folders in the game tab, that you create yourself)

Yeah those, i know i can sort it by last played, but i want the catherine icon to always be there without having to run the game after I play any digital game :/

I noticed that an XCOM: Enemy Unknown Pre-Purchase entry suddenly appeared in my Steam library. I indeed pre-purchased the game, but that was a long time ago. What's up?

I'm thinking of getting my hands on a copy of Demon's Souls, since it's on sale on the European PSN Store, but I have a few questions about the game:

  • Assuming the servers are still online, does anyone have any idea of when they'll be taken offline?
  • How important is the online component of the game? I have a pretty big backlog and I don't think I'd be able to play the game for at least a couple of months, so there might be a chance the servers will be down by then, I guess.
  • Is the game really all that hard? I'm very curious about the game, but I get frustrated easily, so maybe I'm better off getting another game...

I have a Youtube channel that I post a lot of Counterstrike and Age of Empires on to name a few is there anywhere I can show people on Neogaf this or would it just be considered spam? thanks

Why am I so cheap with fictional currency in RPGs? I'm not like this in real-life. Am I compensating for my callous spending in the real world?

No I think you're just playing it safe. Better to have a big pot of cash when you need it, then spend it all and get screwed.

When it comes to stuff like this it's best to regulate it to the topics it refers to. You can link to it (Especially in those games OTs where it isn't a problem)
Just don't go making threads about every new video post and the like.

Ah yeah thats completely fine - do you think it would be ok to make one post as an introduction and just leave it at that? Thanks for the response btw

Making a post (Depending on the thread) would be fine so long as it fits with the thread itself.
However i'd highly recommend NOT making a thread for your channel once you get member status. Unless the video is something you can base a thread around itself. Self Plugging videos or channels usually doesn't end well here unless it's a big accomplishment.

An example would be the recent F-Zero thread with all the races being beat without boost.

They were planning on shutting down the servers but changed their mind and decided to keep them up for the forseeable future.

The online component isn't essential, but having some multiplayer interaction really evolves the game from great to fantastic. You can play start to finish in single player and still really enjoy the game, but the PvP in the Souls games are really damned awesome as well as summoning someone and taking down a gigantic monstrous boss together.

It's tough, but you learn it. As long as you aren't the type to continuosly beat your head against a brick wall until you break through you should be fine. Each death is an experience learned which will help you get just that much further.

One key bit of advice - don't rush, because everything can kill you.

I'm looking to buy a memory card for my PSP Go. I heard they only use Memory stick micro cards (M2 cards) unlike the memory stick pros they used to use on the normal PSP units. Is this true? Also, I went looking for the highest storage capacity ones (16gb), and the only shop that ships it where I live is this one:

http://www.flash-memory-store.com/16gb-sandisk-memory-stick-micro-m2.html

Does this seem like a decent site or am I going to get my money stolen?

What was the name of that thing that was done in some old N64/PS1 era 3D games where an object that looked 3D was actually a flat sprite and would always be facing the camera?

Cool, I didn't know that. I'm not currently a PS+ member, but I might subscribe for three months instead of buying the game. I'd spend a bit more, but I'd get more games to play, albeit temporarily.

Quick question the Japanese release of Wind Waker, is there an option for English(change the language)?

EDIT: As well as this, will the japanese copy work with the freeloader on the PAL Wii (latest firmware) . I have a gamecube if it doesn't.

Does Minecraft ever go on sale? I've gotten into watching the Ultra Hardcore series that the Mindcrack people do every so often and it's tempting, but not enough to plop $25 on it.

Either build a time machine and buy the Alpha/Beta version or wait for it to appear in a bundle, it was in an Humble Bumble 2 years ago. I haven't seen it go on sale on the actual site though.

The Humble Bundle thing was just a time-limited trial version. Oh well, maybe Minecraft will stop selling gangbusters and they'll put it up for sale.
Ha :(

When Notch got married they had a 2 for 1 sale (Now divorced). The game still sells like hotcakes so they don't need to put it on sale. Best time would be an anniversary, of the game, of notch or another event.

For the 360 version... not for ages, it sells tons so no need to put it on sale.

A limited time code for Minecraft was in the bundle. (Humble Indie Bundle 3) so not fully.

Downloaded the PSN version of Vice City over the weekend due to the sale. I was just wondering, are some songs taken out due to license expiry or something? I have yet to hear Billie Jean and played the game for a few hours.

According to this article, ten songs were removed from the Steam version of the game (including Billie Jean). I think it's safe to assume that the PSN release has had the same songs removed, too, but I'm not 100% sure.

so with Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag coming later this year I was thinking about good or decent pirates games but there was complete lack of them, I can only remember but very few

-Monkey Island
-Sid Meier's Pirates
-Pirates of the Caribbean(Bethesda)
-Pirates of the Caribbean:The Legend of Jack Sparrow
-Risen 2

any other pirates themed games out there (not lego crap)? seems like there is a lack of lack of quality and quantity for this sub-genre.

..

*it's really sad that Disney killed Armada of the Damned*

Guys, something strange's been happening with my PS3. I turned it on using the controller, the console beeped as it was turning on, and then seconds later beeped three times and the red stand-by light kept flashing on and off.

It happened two times, on two different days. On both occasions, I waited for a good ten minutes for the light to stop flashing but it didn't, so I just turned the console off using the big I/O switch on the back. After I turned the switch back on, the console worked fine.

Do any of you have any idea of what could be causing this? Is my PS3 dieing? :(

Is there a way to know if you can earn Steam achievements in a game using Steam offline mode (maybe a list of some kind)? For example, Spec Ops: The Line and The Witcher 2 allow you to do that, while Super Scribblenauts and Max Payne 3 don't. I'm particularly interested in Borderlands 2 and Half-Life 2.

Before the red light starts flashing, do you briefly see a yellow light?

If so, BACK UP YOUR STUFF. Your PS3 is dying.
