I have a 27" monitor, so watching the tiny youtube video gets annoying. Expanding it makes it a bit better when i'm working on two things at once (and have two windows snapped together). Fullscreen is overkill sometimes, especially when the video is 480p :P

Fullscreen, at least for me, covers all notifications when I'm using an IM client. It's nice to not have that happen with manual resizing.

Tell them it's a shot from a tank cam of soldiers in Iraq and you just liked one of their haircuts. They'll never know it's a vidya game screen.

Yeah but the high and tight won't have the back part because it usually stops at the crown. You will have to specify.

Third box from the top, any option other than "Do not subscribe" will enable auto-subs.

I've been learning about ECGs (or EKGs to yous Americans) recently, but I'm lacking in a website which might offer lots of tests to run through and practice interpretation.

If anyone knew of any decent links then it would be really appreciated!

I recently got a nasty virus on my PC. I restored to a previous setting and the virus appears to be gone, but now lots of file pathways won't work when I try to open them. But I can still open essentials (internet, word).

My question is, am I okay to keep using the essentials until I get home for my gfs PC-whizz dad to fix (about a week), or are all my personal details being leaked to a hacker as we speak?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Dunno if it still matters, but I've heard this particular mohawk referred to as a "warhawk."
 
My internet speed is usually at a constant 4Mbs, but now it's currently 0.43Mbs. Been like this for a few days now.

My ISP said nothing is wrong on their end and it must be something to do with me. I've disconnected everything, leaving only my laptop connected (wi-fi and wired) yet I'm still having trouble.

Any ideas?

I mean, I have to leave a 320p YouTube video stream for about 5-10 minutes before being able to watch it. Uch.

What the hell is wrong with Youtube today? It used to remember that I prefer the expanded player. Now it defaults to the smaller player and I have to expand it every time.
 
I want to treat my lawn for fleas. I live in Florida where they're pretty much a problem year round. Even with monthly treatments to my dog, they still bother him, and now they're effecting my kids too. So what's a good lawn treatment pesticide for fleas (ants would be a nice bonus too)?

I've seen one go tits up when someone pulled it out while it was writing. Ejecting it makes absolutely certain that nothing it playing around in there before you pull it.

But generally, no. As long as you're not actively using it, you're probably not going to damage it if you pull it out without ejecting.
 
So, I've been working for my Dad as of '08 and yesterday I got hired to work at Kmart. My job coach had told me that the manager at Kmart is lenient. So, my Dad said that I should call her today and ask her if I can take off two weeks in July for vacation. Do you think this is a bad idea? To me this says "I don't really wanna work here."

Did they ask you if you have any upcoming holiday when they interviewed you? If not, just say it was arranged before hand and you can't get out of it.

Well if you are indeed going on vacation you should ask off as soon as possible.
 
This really isn't a stupid question but I don't want to make a thread for it.

I was driving to UCSF earlier this morning when I reached an intersection where I have to yield to oncoming traffic when making a left turn. There was only one car and as soon as it passed I began to move but out of the corner of my eye I saw a pedestrian making their way across the street. I stopped so they can go ahead and cross. I then see several flashes go off and notice a street camera at the the corner and it took pictures of my car. I don't think I did anything wrong. I yielded to oncoming traffic and I stopped so the pedestrian could pass by. I'm just a bit irritated and hope I don't receive a ticket. Is it normal for street cameras to make mistakes or did I do something wrong?

Edit: If it helps clear things up the street camera was in front of my car, not behind.

, a character from Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, a sort-of "sequel" to the Civ games

Anyway, I didn't like it quite as much as some others on this board, but the aforespoilered game was pretty good. Also, Civ IV is incredibly good and possibly better than Civ V (my computer is broken and pending an upgrade anyway to something that will be able to play it in the coming months).

Galactic Civilizations and its cleverly named sequel Galactic Civilizations II are supposed to be really great, and I managed to buy the latter for cheap during the Circuit City death throes but never dived in. Aargh, aargh, I wish I had more time to play stuff now! And curse my ADD!

A few years ago, I picked up Ascendancy from the five dollar bin of some store. It blew me away how good it was (and how every piece of music therein, although fantastic, seemed ripped off from random Sci-Fi film scores). Also, because of you, I just learned that Ascendancy was redone and released for iOS. Your post has given me a reason to get a touchyswipeyphone. :O :O :O

Also, Nethack is overall and by a fairly wide margin the best strategy game ever made. It's not a 4X game, though, which seems to be what people tend to think of these days when they say "Strategy". And, you know, the whole "no graphics" thing....

Had a major flea issue here in Texas when I bought my new house and nothing worked. Go to a farm supply store and buy some stuff called Demon.

Kills everything but vegetation. Cant let kids or pets on the part you spray for 24 hours though.

For quicker loading and less bandwidth use I have my videos default to 240p, so fullscreen looks a bit ass, but the default size is also too tiny.
 
Can someone explain how Deferred interest works if i dont pay off a loan in time?

say i bought a new PC. I have $300 left on it to pay off.. however i have $398 in deferred interest charges. is all the 398 going to be added to my balance? so i'll owe 698 and be charged interest on that etc?

Yes. This is pretty much the entire point of deferred interest, from the point of view of the retailer.

It sounds great, but if you're late, they'll nail you to the wall.

Yes, you'll owe interest since the very beginning and onward.

6 months deferred payment = No payment for the first six months of the Balance.

If you don't pay off the balance in six months, interests for those six months get tacked on when those 6 months are over.

If you pay off the balance under six months, you do not get charged the interest at all.
 
I was watching the video for Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and I started thinking about the traditional american parties you see in American Pie and stuff.

This is stupid as hell, but what is the deal with these? Do you drink beer in it that comes from a brewer thing or what? I'm used to bringing my own beer and drink it from the can, so I don't know.

They are cheap and they are sold everywhere. When you're in college and want to party, those are two great qualities. They are also sturdy enough that it is a rare thing to break one accidently.

As Orellio said, Solo is a popular brand, but there are many brands that look almost exactly the same. The two most common colors are red and blue.

DemonWP and CynoffWP are 40% cypermethrin which is a very good pyrethroid pesticide. I did a report on it in organic chemistry and was amazed that it's half-life was up to 4 weeks (very impressive for that class of chemicals). Cypermethrin is also not water soluble and binds to the soil so hopefully you won't have as much of a problem with it washing away.

What my friend, who is getting his PhD at UC Davis in entomology, does for his own private garden is that he mixes the pyrethroid with alcohol and detergent. The pyrethroid attacks the insects' nervous system and the alcohol/detergent washes away the waxy layer of the fleas' carapaces, so it kills the insects in two ways and he very rarely have to spray it on his plants.

I'm looking for an old Microsoft Windows desktop background that I used a long time ago. It was included in Windows 98 and it was mainly dark blue and black. It had a Windows logo and I think it had a keyboard/mouse too.

Anyone know which one I'm talking about?
