can anyone give me advice on getting rid of my iphone 3GS?

it's black, not jailbroken. Should I jail break and unlock it? its got a few dings, but works perfect. how much can I expect?

I'm going prepaid and getting a 64gb touch (hoping I can get enough for the phone to cover this.)

Can anyone explain this joke:

Vorshon it's basically a stereotype about the english upper-class. They all take drugs and anally interfere with the working-classes.

I have my iTunes albums labeled at the start with the year so they appear in order, but for some reason one of the bands isn't working, their 2010 album is first, then the rest are in order. Any ideas what wrong?

Thanks! I wonder if I can get them anywhere here. I'm sort of in love with eggs right now. Speaking of which i may go take a walk up the street and get some balut, if they are open on a Sunday. Great hangover food.
For some reason, they're somewhat expensive in most places except Southeast Asia, which you might easily be in considering the balut.

Question for Android-GAF:
I changed my lock screen pattern and forgot it, which normally wouldn't be a problem since I can just sign in with my google account and change it, but I'm using 2 step verification so my normal password isnt working on the "forgot pattern" screen and I'm assuming I need to use that application specific password that I generated for the phone which I assumed I would never have to enter again. Is there any way to view this password on my google account or can I just revoke access on the phone and then generate a new application specific password?

Edit: nevermind, just created a new application password and I unlocked it

No, Hawaii, large Filipino population, in my area especially. And I decided that my headache would just get worse walking in the sun, and they're probably closed on Sundays anyway.

I'm sure I've seen quail eggs here, i just don't remember where.

Not entirely sure if this question should be here or in the gaming side's version, but here goes.

Is there a simple way to transfer the music from my laptop onto my PS3 that doesn't involve using a USB stick over and over again?

So I got a new credit card, and in setting up e-bill payments, I notice that the only things they require when linking to my bank account are the bank's routing number (available on the website) and my account number (visible to anyone I've ever written a check to). This seems pretty unsafe to me. What's to stop someone who regularly sees checks as payment from copying one and using the numbers to pay off their own credit card that way? I know that in some cases (online savings accounts) they'll make two small deposits and have you confirm the amounts, but that didn't happen in this case.

What is that damp sock smell that comes from my car's AC when I first turn it on and where does it come from?

Maybe check your cabin air filter?

External hard drive. Alternatively put both on the same router you can do media streaming/server (Google it).

What is "worth" more: A phd in biochem/chem or a pharmD?

Depends on the career you land and where.

If you're being optimistic, biochem/chem. If you're being safe, PharmD

Nothing really. All someone needs is the routing # and the account # to pay something like their credit card bills online with your checking account. It's fraudulent of course but you should check with your bank on their policies, what exactly will happen and how you are protected/responsible in the event there is fraud.

I would go with the Ph.D. in biochem/chem then.

Here's a question. Do any of you guys live in Vegas? And if so, what should one expect when living out there?

I'm considering moving out there for work (my company is relocating and offering to take me along) and I'm wondering what I should be considering if I were to make the move.

I live in Vegas and, if you can put two and two together from my previous post, I go to college there. I've been living here for about nine years and I can tell you that it's not what you think is. When you first come here you'll be fawning over all the casinos and clubs. You'll want to go to the strip every weekend and party and do stupid things. But after maybe a couple of months you'll get used to it. Some here in fact would say that they're immune or tolerant to it. What I mean is that you'll reach the point where you'll look at the strip on your way to work or back and think to yourself, "It's just a bunch of goddamn lights. Built for the stupid masses to drive our economy."

Speaking of the economy the city has a very unequal distribution of economic prosperity. For example, you drive half a mile, HALF, from UNLV and you're in the middle of the poorest neighborhood. Then you'll drive some more and it'll gradually get better again. And by unequal distribution I mean that some areas of commerce here are still deep in the recession whereas others would seem like they were never affected in the first place. Southwest Vegas, for example, has a place called Summerlin and near there there is a Costco, a Best Buy, BB&B, Olives Garden, etc. and they are packed all the time. But then there is the other side of the road where they have halted the construction of a parking garage for three years due to insufficient funds.

In the end, your experience living in Vegas will be majorly influenced by where you live in it. Yes we have the highest crime rate in the country (for almost everything) but if you live in the right area you'll feel like that's bs. Also it's a good time to come here since we have very low prices on houses which means more money saved for you to buy other things when you start moving here. Gas prices are around 3.70 and have stayed that way for about a month.

Hope you enjoy you stay here as much as I have hated it. :)

I live in NY now so I expect to grow tired of the strip. It's also a completely different atmosphere, I'm guessing, and I'm just wondering if I can deal with the change.

I'm trying to collect opinions so I can make that decision, I suppose.

Just please promise me you'll pick a good location. Please. It's not worth coming here if you don't.

I'm watching my friends' place while they are on vacation. Someone hit my friend's car parked on the street sometime while I was out today. I called the police to file a report. Am I supposed to call my friend's insurance company also, or is it better for him to do it when he gets back. He'll be back in 3 days.

I'm guessing this was a hit & run and the police made an accident report (or most likely just an information report). It's fine. Your friend has plenty of time to get in contact with his agent. If it was a hit & run it won't matter regardless because your friend will be responsible for the collision deductible. If not, the police have the info of the other driver in the report and your friend's agent will handle it and the other party's insurance will cover the damages. So to answer your question: You've done your part.

parrotbeak said:
Cool, thanks. Ya, it was a hit and run.

Yeah, odds are your friend is gonna be pissed then since they'll be stuck with a several hundred dollar collision deductible because of some asshole. Sorry to hear it.

Actually although the police took my report over the phone, they sent a squad car down to see it, and that cop told me my friend has to file the report himself since it will be a criminal case and it's not an emergency.

Also not what I expected: there's broken glass on the road and the cop told me to just leave it so it'll be there when my friend calls them when he's back.

Ya, thanks, that's the first thing I did. I have my doubts how well the little shards of glass will remain in place for 3 days with the rain and wind we've been getting.

If you don't want to have any problem finding a job take the PharmD you will probably get a better salary being a pharmacist. If you want to actually create drugs then you will need biochem and organic chemistry and it's highly competitive. I have a Masters Degree in Organic Chemistry and wanted to do a PhD at first but when I saw the condition of the job market where I live I didn't take it further. If you are aiming for a PhD then I would guess you have a Masters Degree in Biochem/Chem or are you planning this from a simple first cycle degree you're doing?

Is Rebuild of Evangelion worth looking into for someone who used to watch the shit out of the original series years ago? A quick Google shows only two out of four films were made, with the second having released way back in 2009. Do they intend to finish it?

Yeah, the films are a good time. And since you watched the series you'll pick up on a lot of stuff as well. (I assume you've also seen End of Evangelion? You should watch that first.)

I'm pretty sure they are planning to finish it eventually. The third film seems to be a long ways off though. :(

I have, but it was a long time ago. I suppose I want to check out the Rebuild series because I've had an Evangelion itch lately, but I'm not sure I want to go back and watch the entire series. However, it was a very long time ago that I watch them, so my memory is a bit hazy.

I guess I'm just tossing up between doing the series all over again, or jumping into Rebuild. The former would be the most substantial, at the cost of a huge time investment, while the latter is a nice compartmentalised retelling of the story, yet has only two out of four parts released.

Decisions decisions.

Is there a word for self-inflicted genocide?

If not, what would be the appropriate phrasing? "_____________-cide"

What do you mean by self-inflicted? A genocide of one's own people is still just genocide, and a wide-scale self-killing is mass suicide. I don't think there's any median case that would lead to its own term.

Gaf, am I over reacting?

I stopped at a gas station on the way to work. I had a $50 dollar visa gift card so I asked the attendant, who doesn’t seem to speak much English and has been pretty rude to me in the past, if he could give me $50 dollars worth of silver gas on that card. He comes back and just says, “We don’t take this...” and just walks away attending to another customer for about 3 minutes. Ok I understand, not his fault. When he comes back I hand him my debit card and say, “Can I have $10 on this card please”. I’ve been trying to save money, and I thought I would just try the gift card at another station some other time when I needed to fill up. Because I was aware he didn’t speak English very well, I actually repeated the word, “TEN” twice just to be sure he heard me. As he walks away I notice that the meter is going past $10. I beep my horn and the guy angrily walks over. I say, “Sir, I asked for $10 dollars and it’s going over.” He says, “You say you want $50! Oh well you get $22, gives me my card, and walks away in a I don’t give a shit attitude. All the while, he was just muttering about how dumb I was.

I was pretty angry at the time, due to the guy acting like it was my fault. As I left I opened my window and said sarcastically, “yeah… Thank you for the great service….” I understand the guy probably works minimum wage, but you shouldn’t have a bad attitude towards customers, when a mistake happens.

It’s only $12 extra, but should I contact Exxon customer service to complain, or just let it slide and not bother me? Really it’s the principle of the matter that bothers me

I'm generally the type to let things slide. Someone gives me the wrong thing I ordered or is cutting my hair wrong, I just roll with it. I get criticized by friends all the time for it though.
With that being said, I would contact customer service or go back and see if there is a supervisor or someone you can talk to. You got dicked over pretty bad. He was talking shit as he walked away? Don't let that slide, man.

GAF, for those of you who have read it: what is the best version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms out there? I'm not seeing too many on Amazon or Borders and the one that looks good on Amazon is mulitple books and like $150+.
What should I look into?

Why not put the two together - Mass Suicidal Genocide or Mass Genocidal Suicide whether you want to emphasize the individuals or the group.
On second that Mass Genocide is pretty redundant. So, maybe Mass Genocidal Suicide would make more sense?

I have a car A/C question. The A/C in my 2000 Honda Civic has not worked in about 3 years. We had it fixed at the time, but it went out a month later, with the pump being replaced. We took it back to the shop that fixed it and they tried again. They eventually told us that they were unsure of what the problem was and they couldn't fix it. We were told to take it to Honda and have them check it out. Well, this never happened. I have been driving it around since then, refusing to have it fixed mainly because of cost. I have some money now and would like it fixed, especially since it's starting to get hot again. Anyone have a clue what the problem could be and how much it would cost to fix?

why weren't you in control of the pump though? New Jersey?

Is there some way that you can search for common interests on Facebook?
If you mean finding new friends based on your likes, no. If you meant seeing mutual likes between your friends this page should have a "Friends similar to you" which you can use to see how many mutual likes you have.

Does anybody know if such a math game exist where you take random numbers and find answers to them?

Example

2 10 5

adding them the sum = 17
subtracting from left to right = -11

basically taking any combinations of a number and getting answer for it.
