Bombastic, fustian, pleonastic, grandiloquent, magniloquent, loquacious.

Just throwing them out there.

I can't think of another word apart from prolix that means deliberately obscuring things.

Yeah, I think Sal got it with prolix.

I can't help but feel that it's not the word I was looking for, but there doesn't seem to be anything else so I'll roll with it.

Cheers!

One last try: obfuscate/obfuscatory.

Just did a clean Windows 7 install and when asked to choose where I wanted to install Windows 7, it wouldn't let me choose my harddrive with 160 GB, instead it installed it on a smaller partition on my comp that was 40 GB.

Every time I try to partition the 160 GB free space I keep getting an error saying not enough space. When I try to install Windows 7 I get "Error: 0X8004240F".

Google hasn't yielded me any answers, anyone on GAF care to share some knowledge? Help me out?

This is what it looks like. When I try to delete the 106 gb partition it says there is not enough space on disk(s) to complete this operation.

Is it possible, by only using things that are already available on this planet, to increase the weight of Earth? Or to put it another way: through a certain process is it possible to produce something which is heavier than the source materials combined?

No.

Okay, so I have one. On my google search for GAF, all my search history is there and I want to remove the history as it gets annoying when it appears whenever I type something into it. Is there a way to remove the history?

Nah, that was actually one of the words I was gonna try describe it with.

Thanks for the help anyway.
Superfluous? Though that's not necessarily regarding speech, right? It could be making anything excessive.

Clear your cache.

So, the original Jelly Beans, are they the ones which are called Jelly Belly Beans or is it the ones from the Jelly Bean Factory? Or is it non of the above?

I'm about to buy the American version of Final Fantasy Tactics A2. My question is if this game would work with a European 3DS?
DS games don't have regional restrictions, so yes, it will run on a European 3DS. I have US versions of FFIV and Chrono Trigger myself and both work normally on my European 3DS.

DSi-enhanced games (e.g. Solatorobo) do though, so watch out if you ever buy one of those. Their game codes start with TWL instead of NTR.
The only exceptions are Pokémon Black/White (which are DSi-enhanced) - only the Japanese versions of those are region-locked; US/Australian/European versions are region-free.

Excellent. Thank you guys for anwsering. I guess I'll be careful before I import.

I want to get something that trims my beard down to stubble every week instead of having to shave it off and let it grow again. What's the best device for that?

Is there a Chrome extension that sends you directly to the most probable website by simply typing in a word ala Firefox?

Ex. Typing Vimeo will take you directly to the website instead of search results.

This does that:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lfppfcdiedoclgloebimkpfijbabfbkd

But you have to put > and a space before your search term. Kind of annoying, but on the bright side this lets you keep the normal omnibar function at the same time.

Anyone else had any problems with TinyPic? I don't see any of the pictures people post here (or anywhere else) and I can't even access their site. I actually haven't been able to see them in weeks, so it's not just a temporary problem that can be fixed with a reboot of the computer. Anyone know what's up? Is it my computer/connection and if it is, how can I fix it?

YES! I have this SAME problem, and it's ONLY on this computer. I have no idea what's wrong, and would LOVE to know how to fix it.

Also, asking this again since I didn't get an answer last time: does anyone know the "BELIEVE" font used in the NeoGAF logo? Thanks.

So where I am at, Time Warner is about the only good option for internet and cable. Man oh man do I hate Time Warner. I've been using them for three years now and have moved twice. Both times I moved and had the internet transferred over, their whole 'one-year promo' bullshit restarted. A year has passed since arriving at my current residence. Last April I had them transfer internet to my new apt and I had them add an HD box and cable. The total for the entire year was ~$95.

Now that the year has passed, the past couple months I have been paying ~$140. After researching TWC online, they like to get people into two year contracts I guess, and when they do that, they will fix the price for the entire time. One year though is just a promo price.
I hate this. I feel like the price should drop a bit after being with them for an extended amount of time, not jump a lot.

I know it couldn't hurt to call and voice my dissatisfaction and see if there is anything they can do for me, but what I am wondering is this: If I were to call and cancel my contract and service, then immediately sign a new contract with them, I should be good right?
Is there anything that could give them cause to say, "Hey, you can't have the promo price...you just canceled your service with us!"

They will most likely tell you you don't qualify for new-customer promotions if you try to cancel and immediately resign up.

Back when I worked at Comcast a few years back, the general flow was: Super-cheap introductory price for 6 months or a year. Jump to full price. Customer could call in and complain and the retention department would put them on another discount for another six months or so. Jump to full price. Generally at that point you'd get told you were ineligible for another promotion as you'd just had one, though some retention agents would just keep rolling you along as long as you had specific cancellation threats in mind.

Anyone who had had service with us within the past 90 days did not count as a new user and was not considered eligible for a new user discount, specifically to prevent people canceling and reconnecting constantly. The installation fees could be pretty pricey, so canceling and trying to reconnect service at a discount is something of a gamble.

Okay.
I guess I will call my step-dad up then. I'm not too good with being assertive to customer service-type people and my step-dad can talk his way into or out of anything when dealing with people over the phone, so he might know what words I need to drop when I call them up to voice my unhappiness. The man could go get on a plan for an iPhone 4 right now, a two-year contract, and then talk his way out of the contract in a month-and-a-half and not have to pay anything to get let go early. It's like a super-power or something.

How free shipping works on sites like Dealextreme and focalprice ?

I heard bookdepository works with shipping included in the price shown because they see your ip ... but this don't looks like it in these sites

Can a person I've blocked on facebook still see the comments I post on a mutual friend's status/wall/picture?

Thanks.
If you block them, not just unfriend them, no. It's as though you don't exist to them and they don't exist to you.

Are there any websites out there that do a good job of analyzing music? I know of only Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, and don't particularly like either.

I don't know if anyone can help me with this or not, but if you can it would be a big help. I've got this exam program on my lsptop for a test and never had problems before, but after I was done doing a practice test today, I got an error message and now I can't get off a black screen. I'm locked out of everything on my computer now and don't know what to do (im on live chat and the phone now, but on hold on the phone and they live chat guy doesn't seem to know anything).

Maybe someone had a problem like this before and knows what to do?

Haha, I entered the thread to ask the exact same thing. I wish we had a German thread.
So start one! Dunno if there are many folks here learning German, but there's only one way to find out.

Can someone explain to me how Chrome bookmark syncing works? I'm tempted to try it, but I don't want the bookmarks saved on one computer to overtake the other. Or does it combine the two?

I wanted to learn it. But It just seemed hard. Maybe if you make the thread, I will go back to the classes and motivate myself.

In the Walking Dead canon, does zombie fiction exist?
There was a panel discussion on TWD dvd extras where they said zombie fiction doesn't exist in that world. Otherwise people would automatically know what to do.

My school transcript is a 238 KB pdf file. One job site only allows uploads up to 200 KB. Any way I can resize the file? I already scanned it in the lowest resolution possible.

I don't have regular Adobe, just Adobe Reader, so I can't resize it through that program.

What's the best way to keep a 2-liter bottle of soda carbonated longer? Leaving it open while I'm drinking it or capping it, then reopening it every time I'd like to pour myself a drink?

Under "Document" you can try the optimize option, and when saving you can try the adobe optimized filetype.

I don't have either of those options on my Adobe.

I just realized this isn't working anyway because you can barely even read my grades since it was scanned with such low resolution. What if I scanned it with high resolution, and then compressed it somewhat? Would that help? (can you tell I have no idea what I'm doing?)

Is it just a single image that is 200kb? Try scanning it in at a high res and then downsizing it in an image editor to 1000 pixels in width, and then making a pdf out of it.

OK, before I make a thread, I have a question about online coupons (redeemable at Staples). I'm trying to buy a PC monitor.

I recently just learned about coupon websites that require you to PAY for the coupon. Sites like E-junkie.com and onlinecouponshop.com. Is this legit? Is it guaranteed that the coupon will work once I pay for it? And can you combine the coupons?

Let's say the monitor costs $124. If I buy a "$25 off $100 Online Code", the total is now $99. Can I also combine that with a "$25 off $75 Online Code" to make it $74?

Or what if I'm buying a monitor + PC and the total is like $400. Can I keep combining coupons to get it all the way down to $100?

EDIT: I see the deal excludes PCs so forget the PC part.
