I'm not sure this has been touched on (who am I kidding, this is GAF). Couple of things on Rev's supposed backwards compatibilty. I'm not an uber techie, but I'm just trying to speculate.. anyway..
Isn't it likely that GC BC compatibility won't really have to be emulated given the similar system core (IBM cpu(s) & ATI/Artx gpu(s))? Having said that, isn't it feasible to assume that with proper restraints put in place limiting GC games at 60fps (this is nice because it might improve some slower games), that the GC experience could really be improved on Rev?
A number of features that might get implemented if possible:
- Upscaling to HD resolution
- Antialiasing & Anisotropic Filtering
- Unique smart shader options effecting the appearance of the games (if 3rd party devs would allow it). Remember the filters from Far Cry?
Am I way out to lunch to assume some of this might be possible? I guess it would depend on whether or not the sound subsystem was compatible too.
