Haha, wow not really, I think its ridiculous a ROG Xbox ally X was even thought of for being a pick for the best invention of 2025 considering its a ROG ally with an xbox button slapped on it. What gaming hardware even fucking deserved that nomination with that's out there in 2025?

I just thought that, didn't we had a break from you for a while? What was up with that, ban? Summer vacation? I was just lucky and didn't see your posts for a long period of time? It felt like a nice break from the "my man" spam.

Naw not even that and you know how I love switch 2. I didn't follow all technologies of 2025 to be honest but surely there's something more important than a gaming portable that's pretty much status quo for years now. Otherwise its a sad fucking year for inventions.

Also weird to see this on Time Magazine, but I can't think of the last time I considered them relevant (to me, anyway).

I'd even pass the new Meta glasses as an invention, than this overhyped, overpriced trash.

Handheld PC's have been a thing since the GPD Win, or even before that if you don't count a touchscreen, back to even the 1980's.

MS or Asus didn't "invent" anything in this space.

Maybe the seamless Xbox integration makes it innovative?
And also the specs aren't too shabby either

Absolutely bizarre choice. It's just a slightly upgraded ROG Ally X hardware wise, and Microsoft only partially playing catch-up by trying to fix the UI + background RAM usage of Windows 11.

Microsoft still has to fix the sleep function to offer a true suspend state that doesn't randomly wake up in my bag, and offer their own API like Steam Input for PC games that have no (or only partial) gamepad support if they expect you to actually buy everything from their storefront vs just using Steam.

see that bottom right icon? that's the Xbox app. in this Xbox app you can buy and download games... that is the Xbox library on PC. just like your Steam Library, your Epic Games Library or your GoG Library.

They don't have a true suspend state yet?? C'mon, man.

I don't like that I'm limited with SteamOS with a handful of games, but the quality of life and portable experience makes up for it.

Okay? It's a Windows handheld merged with an Xbox controller. Is that the best innovation of 2025?

Either way I'll hopefully get mine at launch. First Windows handheld for me since Windows CE devices before the smart phone era. Should be interesting.
