Haha yeah thats why I made the post lol. I suppose only ever watching it on TV can lead one to misspell the name. Though it's hard to imagine a big fan of the series has never seen it somewhere, the show has hit critical mass. I see it pop up everywhere on twitter, Facebook, TV everywhere.

lol stereotype. Tons of models and corp here too. Only .98% of LA is involved int "the industry" there is just a much more active and healthy lifestyle here. People go outside and have more room to hike/walk/run and get sun.

What types of photos are you using? Have one with a pet? Anything in your description?

This app is ridiculous. I threw up a picture of me in a hat lookin' pretty alright and have 50+ matches somehow after less than a week. I literally do not have enough time to go out with all these people, whereas on Okcupid i'd rarely get dates. Deleting that.

There's definitely something about the app -- being so simple, it's easy to find someone cute and just shoot the shit or go out with them. Went out with someone last week, and this week I got another date lined up and another girl just gave me her number.

Anyone got some good opening lines? That's really the only trouble im having right now, I guess.

Yeah man, try and keep the matches low, just start going through and deleting. I make top ten lists ect for the week.

I'd say on average I only message 1/10th of the matches I get and go out with 1/4 of them. When you get a dozen or more everyday why would you ever do more than that. It's best to go through compare, then message who is most cute/interesting. Then when talking to them set up a few dates form the ones you have the most fun talking too. Just so many options, it's super casual and really fun.

Like other people said, it's really not a hookup app, it can be used that way but it's getting more and more mainstream and casual. people use this a lot, along a huge demographic and so no one even thinks about it anymore. There seems to be little to no stigma these days to online dating on tinder.

Hahahaha. I asked that girl last night if Calisi was related to Khaleesi on Game of Thrones. I just got a message back that said "thanks :(" and her profile has the correct spelling now Hahaha

It works better if you actually have info about yourself on facebook. Considering the point is to hook up, fake info doesn't really help things and I think most people who are engaged with the app are more interested in getting laid than trolling.

Is it that easy to troll anyhow? Only gives a first name and pictures they want. Unless I suck at Facebook, I wasn't able to find the accounts of the people I met for the most part.

Two matches in three weeks, neither have answered my messages.

Shame it's not a very active app in my city. Then again I tried using Badoo which bummed me out when no one gave me higher than a 4 out of 10.

The internet can be cruel.

So based on what I've read here I think the first profile pic I used was good since I got a decent amount of matches. But I need to add add something interesting like a pet or anything else that will catch a girls eye and be a conversation starter. Have a more interesting pic but prolly better used as a 2nd pic.

edit: and the only recent ones I have are from a few months ago when I was still rocking my homeless person beard and had a bit of pudge action going on

Idk about that, most places say to use selfies, I mean hell I get more than enough matches and 3 of my photos, the first 3 to be exact are all selfies. Just don't do weird angles, and have you doing different things in them.

Edit: Sun glasses in first photo, and shirt off/half off are big no nos on tinder. They will get you more left swipes than anything.

But then again, the same (idiot) friend caught an STD from an earlier tinder encounter.

so it's a bit of a mixed bag.

I'm not sure if this is just a fun app that people use or if it's a serious one. I got at least 10+ matches in the span of 2-3 days so I should take comfort in the knowledge that people think I'm decent-looking enough even though I only put up 1 picture. But it's rare that anyone actually initiate conversation and I kind of loathe having to do that. You'd think it's easier since we already like each other on superficial basis but I really have no idea what's a good first line to say to a stranger. Do people on this app even like chatting or is it better to just go straight for the "Would you be interested to meet up for a coffee?"?

248 matches so far in the last couple of weeks... eh, not too impressed by a lot of these girls. Some of them are just plain goofy, quite a few of them are dumb stuck-up chodes.

I am talking to a very sharp, sweetheart of a girl right now though. She's Indonesian and pretty damn cool. Gotta love a pretty Asian girl that's Muslim, lol.

We'll see how it goes.

lol, how about hi? I mean its not the best but if you really can't think of anything half interesting to say/ask is hi/hey whats up/how are you doing? so hard to really type? lol

Just pick something from their photos or bio if they have one and ask them a question or comment on it. Leave out anything amateur and lame like telling them they are beautiful, attractive or commenting on their looks in anyway.
