I refuse to let Bleach end until he outright says Yachiru is Zaraki's bankai.

- Just finished a long filler arc that was longer than the last cannon arc (Fullbringer) and they had no idea when the final arc would end and probably didn't want to keep doing filler.

Yachiru is Kenpachi's zanpakuto spirit, which she revealed to him right before he went bankai. His bankai just causes him to become stronger and get literal red skin, and it was just part of one of those chains where a hero one-ups a villain only for him to reveal another power that counters that.
At one point she basically says, "whoops sorry I gave you too much power, sorry for almost ripping your arm off"

There must be something missing in translation. Bleach is never ending. We still have to see how Ichigo's and Rukia's daughter deals with Yhwach in the future

I really enjoyed that first Soul Society arc, but Bleach was also one of the earliest manga that I read, so I'm not sure how well it would hold up if I went back to it today. It eventually turned into a hate read for me, as I noticed how little content the series actually had each chapter compared to something as dense and full of life like One Piece.
Think I finally gave up around the start of the Fullbring (?) arc, the characters alone couldn't drag me along any further.

It helps when they started with this arc and that it lasted four years. Even the anime needed 62 episodes to reach the end point of that arc.
The next arc of another four years was the second arc, featuring the really popular villains and heroes of the first arc, enriched with quickly introduced popular characters like Grimmjow.
That is how you become popular for 8 years. The ending of popularity matched the end of that arc.

If I remember correctly, Bleach's afterlife just runs in a cycle.
Someone dies on Earth->They live in Soul Society->They die in Soul Society-They're reborn on Earth
This is assuming that you don't become a hollow after you die on Earth, in which case you go to Hueco Mundo instead, and just stay there (or linger on Earth, hunting spirits) until you get defeated by a shinigami so you can move on to SS. If a Hollow lived a particularly wicked life as a human, they go to Hell if they're defeated by a Shinigami, and I'm guessing you can't leave from there.

If an anime was made and restricted to 26 episodes, and was given license to redo and rearrange some stuff, I think something workable could be made (EDIT: of the current Blood War arc in the manga). I'm thinking:
* Get rid of the Hueco Mundo stuff. Find a shorter way to introduce the villain Quincies, such that Ichigo is already fighting that one guy by the end of the first episode.
* Remove the bankai stealing stuff, or at least make it only the ability of that one guy that steals the first squad vice-captain's bankai.
* Cut out the training stuff for side characters, and the hinting for Tsukishima etc. coming back.
* Still devote an episode or two to the flashback with Ichigo's parents, since there was good stuff there.
* Greatly shorten the zombie stuff. We don't need those random Arrancar coming back, for instance.
* Cut out a bunch of fights.
* Remove the flashback with the fire guy and the balance guy, and generally the stuff with Quincies turning good, that hasn't gone anywhere anyway.
* Ichigo hasn't actually done anything. You can show off Quincies who would otherwise get their fights cut out by making a montage set to "Number One" of Ichigo using his new abilities to take out a bunch of them.
* Switch that Roman warrior guy and Gremmy. Gremmy is now one of Ywach's special warriors instead of him. It made no sense that the reality warper apparently wasn't good enough for that. So, people fight the Roman warrior, Kenpachi shows up and easily beats him. He doesn't get taken out by those girls now. He goes on to fight Gremmy, who actually does try to use his reality warping on his body but Kenpachi's spirit energy is too strong or whatever, and the fight goes on as normal, except Kenpachi is forced to use his bankai.
* There still needs to be an entire episode devoted to that Mexican wrestler guy beating people off screen, because that was hilarious.
* Add a fight between Ishida and Mayuri, where Mayuri is killed, because why the hell hasn't that happened, Kubo?
I only remember half of this stuff because of those videos linked earlier, so there's probably even more stuff that can be cut out.

The problem is simply he has thousands of characters he wants to show, to show in a fight, to demonstrate, to lose and then not die. Fodder should have stayed dead to give characters like this more time to shine. Also, he spent quite a lot of time to build up Tatsuki who has not done anything aside from walking to school.
Kill half of the characters involved.

Aizen chilling in soul society will be the Bleach ending equivalent of Naruto ending with Orochimaru chilling in his lab.
You know what? That would be a better ending even if it's heavy handed as it can than the super fast conclusion we'll get

Hm I never read the manga, how accurate was the show to the manga (aside from filler)? Like were entire characters and plotlines cut?

The anime shortened the pre-Soul Society stuff greatly. For one thing, there were a few other school friends in the manga who barely appeared in the anime, that you can see in the first ending. After that point, they were faithful to the manga to a fault, besides filler.
My post was just about adapting the Blood War arc to an anime.
i really want that to happen now if its ending this fast.
they suddendly go back right before Ichigo uses FGT. Aizen convinces Ichigo to go to the Royal Palace and power up while they wait for Juha Bach and then they one shot him when he shows up the first time before absorbing the SK. after that, Aizen becomes new SK and we get the final "the end" page with the usual "look forward to the author's next work" blurb.

the show, besides filler, was accurate. He's saying that for the anime to actually be good, it needs to not be accurate.
Literally half of this four years worth of content could be cut and no one would fucking miss it.
