survival and underground shouldve been a free update

and it looks like last stand is another mod/horde mode type thing

only good part of the dlc was dragons nest

So I've played the first few missions and the game is not very exciting. Does it get a lot more interesting or should I return it before I play too long?

If it's not for you it's not for you. But keep in mind the first few missions of any game are extended tutorials. In the first few missions, I don't think you even have all your weapon slot of skills. The basic gameplay isn't going to change much though. You kill NPCs, get loot, upgrade your character, along with a story that is somewhat compelling. If that isn't your type of game then it isn't for you.

EDIT - If you are playing with someone trying to level up their alt character, most likely you are not going to get the full experience. You possibly aren't going to get the cutscenes and not going to get the content from the collectibles.

Just with some random guy.

EDIT: I got this because Survival looked good, but I'm not sure if that's worth €45.

If you bought it for Survival alone it's not worth it as it's a completely disjointed experience with no progression.

The Division, to me, is about character building with multiple builds and trying to steamroll through content while min/max-ing. There is plenty of content there for a new player. The folks who have been there since the beginning are the ones starving for content but can still find it fun with new gear and tiered difficulties, etc.

For PvE there is the 1-30 experience, Challenging story missions, three Incursions, randomly generated Underground Operations, High-Value Targets, and roaming named bosses, and then the Dark Zone and Survival for PvPvE.

Hopefully we get a more substantial offering with the Last Stand expansion (supposedly coming in Q1 2017) and possibly a new roadmap of content for 2017.

I do enjoy Diablo because you quickly get a bunch of different skills to experiment with. There are a few skills here too but I'm not sure how much they change up the gameplay?

I might just return it and try out Survival later when it's cheaper.

What was in that update that released today?

New gear score: 256, World Tier 5 with level 34 enemies, new weapons/gear and some weapon adjustments (like less accuracy and less auto aim in shotguns, Hungry Hog and LMGs in general getting nerfed, etc).

Edit: my friend is downloading the update and he sent me a picture, 13GB...? I could swear mine was around 5 or 7GB... da fuck?

Haven't played The Division in a fairly long time, but the info about Survival mode made me really interested. Now, I see people playing it on Youtube and Twitch etc, but when I check PSN it says that the release date for Survival DLC is not until 20h of December.

Do I need some form of pass, or are the others playing a beta/test server or similar?

Edit: just saw the info a bit further up. So, not until the 20th but released on PC I assume? Oh well, time to forget about this then. :D

i can vouch for the famas being good in pvp (ead 53%) but i still prefer my 229 mp5....now the gun that shreds is my crafted MP7, the way it takes down a heath bar is amazing.

the Barrett vest is there any other place in drops except for Lexington? 20 runs and nothing??? games keep handing me predator sets and i need banshee

2 days into the survival mode and I'm seeing a pattern for success. I can get to the drop zone in the DZ with regularity now. But I haven't succeeded in calling down the chopper because....

All fucking hell breaks loose. These guys that spawn when you call down the chopper are like superpowered bullshit ninjas. They move faster than I can shoot. They scramble my abilities and kill me in a few seconds flat.

I'm guessing that part is really only possible with a group?

I just got this on PS4 and I'm blown away with the atmosphere. The city is so intriguing and the audio mix is one of the best ever in an open world.

Anyone got tips for soloing Survival? I'm managing to get to the DZ but then I just get trounced by NPC's

Long post of my experiences inc...

At the start, if you're on the east side, head towards the streets to the east of the lower levels of the DZ. There are a lot of buildings with loot there and usually only a few red or purple enemies. Try to get to the DZ fairly quickly, since even the red enemies there can drop purple gear/weapons. If you're on the west side or the south, then I find it is harder but head to the areas near the DZ and into sewers/subways. Just avoid going too far north on the streets that run north/south next to the DZ walls since there are usually yellow enemies patrolling there. In the DZ, pick your fights and don't go for landmarks unless you're well geared or have a spot where you can cheese the enemies. Don't bother going to the higher DZ zones unless you are going to divtech spots, or have to in order to get your virus samples though if they are at the regular DZ6 rooftop extraction, its hard. I've heard that you can extract without the samples, though I've never done it and you might need to wait for someone else to call an extraction.

I try to get at least all blue before I go into the DZ, and hopefully lucky with some purples, esp weapons from chests. You only need -17C clothes to be warm in the DZ and I've finished it before with -15C clothes. I find LMGs to be the best and I mostly use the M60, and then whatever else I can find or craft, usually a sniper rifle. My experience is that SMGs and shotguns are mostly crap in the DZ, though okay outside, since you likely won't have the toughness or talents to run and gun and enemies love flanking, but AR's and sniper rifles are pretty good. Don't waste your time with gear with electronics, except maybe if it has armor or you actually have a useful talent like Predatory. You want lots of stamina and some firearms. So make sure to check your stats, and sometimes a higher level gear item will be worse. Don't forget to craft the extra medkit pouch, and the advanced filter is useful since there is usually good loot/divtech in contaminated areas, which you can use to craft yellow gear/weapons and also turn into yellow mats if you have enough. If you have enough mats, gear and weapon mods are useful too. Always use medicine/pills as soon as you get them, use water/soda liberally and eat food or head to a safehouse to regen health rather than use a medkit after a fight.

As for skills, I use the turret, which is excellent for taunting enemies and showing you where they are with the red line. It can also do some decent damage to red/purple enemies. Just be aware that heavies will run up and kick the shit out of it, so if you use it then drop it somewhere they can't get on top of. I use the support station for heals, since I don't find first aid heals enough or has a short enough cooldown to be worth it. If you do use the station, remember to destroy it right away if you have to retreat out of it, since the cooldown only starts when its dead.

Be sure to prepare for extraction properly. The helicopter takes about 3 minutes to arrive, so make sure you have enough time/medicine. Also, ime, you can't even open your inventory while the Hunter is around. There are probably two 'best' strategies for fighting Hunters: get fairly close and burst damage the Hunter down quickly, and snipe/MG him down at range. I don't like the risk of getting close right away, since Hunters have random abilities and weapons and move a lot. Plus, their melee attack is a one-shot. I always extract at the park, since I have a solid strategy there that has never failed me. I shoot my flare on the east side and immediately head towards the eastern double-story building, dropping my turret before I get disrupted. I go upstairs and to the balcony where I find it is easier to fight the hunter since a lot of their skills can't reach. I usually just cut him down with sustained MG fire. I find using grenades against the Hunter to be a mixed bag. Hunters dodge very well most of the time, but if you can hit him with a shock grenade, then you can probably kill him before he can heal. Their heals are also limited to about 4 I think, though they may also have healing skills.

Importantly, other people may come and that can lead to more Hunters spawning. After you kill your Hunter, you can run down to grab the loot the Hunter dropped and then hide in the buildings again until the chopper is almost there. I don't play PVP Survival so I'm not sure about that side of things, though I imagine that will be like the regular DZ.

As you play solo, you'll learn what gear level is effective for what enemies, where the enemies tend to be, how they tend to react and so what positioning is best, where loot/divtech is, where the easier landmarks are, etc... Other people swear by the shield, using pulse, extracting at DZ2, getting to -17C and rushing DZ without worrying about gear, so you'll have to find whatever works for your playstyle. I spent a long time soloing in the DZ pre-1.4, and I've developed a rather conservative playstyle that works for me in Survival too. So far, my highest score has been about 15600. Hopefully something here will be helpful to you.

I've been enjoying the Famas, haven't crafted a MP7 yet though to try it out. Which talents did you get on the MP7?
I'm using 2 striker so I don't need any stability mods on it to keep the max 15% extra damage with the third talent.
Not sure which other 4 pieces to use with it, Alpha with a LVOC? Or if I do get a barret chest I'd use that with specialised and another 2 piece.
Slowly getting my Ballistic Shield build together, just need a final fourth piece.

Ran Lex quite a lot with no chest piece drop but now it's 80 phx creds for completion I don't mind rinsing it and had some decent loot along the way.

Maintenance notes for tomorrow :

Here is the list of changes to be implemented with the December 1st maintenance.

Fixed a bug where Larae Barret would remain stuck on the balcony in Lexington Event Center.

Fixed a bug where the Barret Named high-end armor talent would not work after a phase transition or character death. Note that the UI will not take the bonus into account as this will require a client patch.

Fixed a bug where Colonel Bliss’s Holster would not drop in General Assembly mission.

All existing High-End items below level 30 will be automatically rerolled to level 30. In the future, in the event that players would be able to acquire High-End items when they are below level 30, the item will be level 30. Equipped High-End items on character below level 30 will be automatically unequipped during the maintenance and replaced with basic started gear.

Fixed a bug where some players would be stuck on a black screen after watching the exit cutscene in Brooklyn.

Sticky Bomb PvP damage modifier has been reduced to limit the skill’s potency when used against other players. While Sticky Bomb one shots should still be possible, they should only be achievable by highly specialized characters and in specific situations

Highlighted the sticky bomb PVP damage as I know that bothered afew people who still go in the DZ.

Got a Police M4... wtf?? This thing is ridiculously powerful. I mean, much more than the Famas, wow

Will give that a try, haven't used it before. Got one earlier with decent talents from a cache so kept it mainly to just store mods but if it's putting out some good damage I'll give it a blast.

its basically the lvoa-c with a different recoil pattern.

Just got a Barret's Bulletproof vest from a Lexington run in which I also earned a Field Proficiency Cache. Opened the cache and was greeted with another Barret's Bulletproof vest. My first two named gear pieces.

Thanks Rudimental that was incredibly detailed! Are gadgets vital before entering the DZ? Anyone else find matchmaking with randoms being a bad idea as it's always a rush to loot all the gear?

I would say get your gadgets before going in. That said, I have gone in with only one skill and the mats for another, since I was close to the DZ already, but I made a beeline straight for a safehouse in the DZ and crafted my other skill immediately. It's really easy to run into a patrol or get one coming in the middle of a fight. I once just got into the DZ and saw 3 red LMB guys and decided to fight them, only to get some cleaners to come, then when I backed off to a better position I got some purple rioters, and then finally somehow managed to aggro the boss at the nearby landmark. Luckily the patrols are quite small usually 3, but having skills saved my bacon. Especially the turret for aggro. It is still useful even if you decide to run since the NPCs tend to focus on it letting you get away. Don't know if it is a recent patch or I just forgot after not playing for a while, but the NPCs are very accurate and I've been killed a few times running away when I thought they wouldn't get me.

There is a thread on reddit that may be helpful too, for some other information and strategies:

On my 4th or 5th attemp last night, I finally was able to extract in Survival. good thing I had a buddy with me who revived me a couple of times! Man, that hunter fight was intense! they hacked my turret imediatly after I deployed it so I suggest having another "offensive" skill than the turret when you reach that point. Can they hack Seeker mines, anyone?

Anyway, after that intense battle, I was such on an adrenaline rush that I was not able to get to sleep for like an hour... yep, tired this morning... don't feel like working and more like jumping right back in!

oh, also, I selected PVP by mistake on my first matchmaking and I enjoyed it. got into intense firefight with others at the crash site. Pistol VS Pistol was enjoyable! then I met 2 agents with AR... back to matchmaking! lol!

man this game is good. I bought Gears 4 when it launched and I haven't finished the campaign yet cuz I keep playing The Division!

Looking for any help. I bought the game during that $10 amazon deal and I keep running into this situation on PS4

Every time I try to load the game on PS4 it crashes with a CE-34878-0 error

Any tips? lol

It's all about that Lightweight M4, goddamn that thing is a beast (I have about 900 RPM on mine).
Yeah I got a decent one of these yesterday, melts compared to the Socom SCAR-L I was using. Just got to 256 and enjoying the game again after taking a hiatus.

Any active Xbox one players add me for DZ, HVT's, or anything really. GT is TKRunningRiot

Man, I'm getting absolutely wrecked in WT5, wow. I'm not sure if my stats are so shitty but it's so hard right now... 320/330/75

4 Alpha Bridge + 2 Nomads... 54% EAD... and I thought that M4 I got was powerful... I was wrong.

how are you guys running with low skill power/electronic? for me the overheal booster needs to self heal at least 145k and cool down timer at 27-35 sec to have peace of mind. once again toughness doesnt really matter much against NPC's, they'll still down a player (in my case) 374k toughness @54.7% damage mitigation. so ive stopped spec'n towards health, firearms at 5.3k stamina 5.3k and electronic 3.7k, need more electronic mods with higher armor roll.

also found out about the talent that applies bleed to targets 10 meters to each other! my MP7 (responsive, competent, destructive - ead up to 20% on smg ) 295dps using predator, wonder what i can get it to with alphabridge deadly, brutal, fierce...and the reload is 1.5 seconds. the famas is sitting at 315k dps but letting off all 62 bullets with 12% stability still kicks it up which means i have to burst or get close and personal where the recoil wouldnt matter.

i need banshee, if any one in here gets them more than usual please i need to party up and farm with you

Well this is pants.

After the graft and managing to get my M44 to 192k and Toughness to 225k after update 1.5 I'm back down to 161k and 185k. Managed to bag a couple of nice Performance upgrades yesterday so got DPS to 164k.

Seriously though, an M44 (229) from 192k to 161k. That's a massive drop.

It sucks. Hard.
