Whether the "breathing room" is legitimate or not, I don't care. For me, I need the breathing room. The release schedule from August > November is stacked and I don't think I was going to get to Avowed until 2025 anyways.

WoW expansion
D4 Expansion
Shattered Space
Age of Mythology
Indiana Jones
Stalker 2
COD

Sure I'm missing some others, but trying to navigate these large games with a family, work and holidays is going to be rough.

Avowed delayed and hellblade 2 flopping. I guess the year of Xbox continues to be "next year."

Hopefully avowed turns out well and Indiana Jones should be solid at least.
See above, Keep coping.

Smart. Fall/end of year is always slammed. Avowed isn't a huge AAA game. Wait and launch it when things are a little more sparse.

So what does that even leave for 2024? Indiana Jones and..??
Shattered Space
Indiana Jones
Age of Mythology
Call of Duty BO6
Stalker 2 (3rd party timed deal)
Towerborne (possibly but still unconfirmed, 2nd party deal)

Long shot chance, maybe Replaced.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Ara: History Untold
Towerborne

Also XGS published coming later this year.\

Xbox always bunch everything in fall.

This time though COD is coming so they have to make way for it.

Edit: Avowed is my most anticipated upcoming release, so it sucks.

I think STALKER 2 being pushed to November would be the main cause of this.

Not releasing 2 big AAA games on game pass in the same month.

I hear what you’re saying though a Call of Duty game was always coming in the fall, the difference now is it’s own by MS and launching in Game Pass. And they knew CoD was coming to Game Pass and its release date when they reiterated Avowed’s 2024’s release date at the June showcase. Either it needs more time and/or MS was happy to make it seem like 2024 was going to have Avowed in it, and just decided to bait and switch the date.

Two first party console exclusive titles in that list. Earth shattering.
Just what MS is releasing. Seems like a decent slate if you ask me. I game on PC so i couldn't give 2 fucks about "console exclusives"

Breathing room? Xbox needs to make gamepass as appealing as possible. Pushing games out further doesn't help in my opinion.
I think there is only so many games people can play, if you hammer them all out in the same period, games get overlooked and it means there potentially dry spells elsewhere.

I still haven't got round to Kunitsu-gami or persona 3 reload, I'm super pumped for them both and various other titles I've purchased, I just haven't had the time for them, this applies to many other games as well though.

Plus call of duty black ops 6 launches that month too right? I would imagine most games will get completely dwarfed by that games release on game pass tbh.

If I comes out early next year and gets the spotlight on itself then that is a good thing, hopefully the game turns out good, as I personally really like the look of it myself.

Edit: the releases are pretty stacked at the end of the year, space marine 2, metaphor, stalker 2, visions of mana, black ops 6, dragon age, star wars outlaws, AC:shadows and loads more.

Both Avowed and Hellblade 2 were also on PC, so your original point and this comment kinda make no sense ?

Anyway, this is the first party slate for the rest of the year, 3 expansions and 5 games.

WoW expansion
D4 Expansion
Shattered Space
Ara History Untold
Towerborne
Age of Mythology
Indiana Jones
Stalker 2 * not 1P published.
COD

Another game that was also delayed.

Yes, unfortunate.

It's three DLC expansions (one exclusive to PC, other from Diablo 4), a third-party timed exclusive, and fucking COD. That, and there's the fact that their only first-party game this year thus far is Hellblade 2. He won't be the one coping.
Seriously, should have at least mentioned Towerborne instead of any of those.

As a PC gamer all of that interests me. I play COD daily. Its a lot of content most on gamepass as well, itll be hard to cope with all that in a short space of time.

“A busy period for Game Pass”

Can someone explain this? It seems like a bizarre rationale. You don’t buy your games on Game Pass, so how can it be “busy”? It’s a subscription service. People subscribe and play whatever game whenever they want. Is there some sort of internal “failure” if your subscription service game isn’t immediately played by millions of people?
It’s all bullshit. If the game was good they wouldn’t have bothered delaying it. Plain and simple.

Shame about the delay. I was really excited to see which “modern” RPG was more insufferable between Avowed and Dragon Age.

The amount of people swallowing the PR spin of “it’s a busy period” is hilarious. The fall season is always busy. Microsoft knew that when they put Avowed on the release schedule. If they thought the game could stand on its own merits, they wouldn’t be delaying it.

It’s clearly being delayed because it’s a mess and they want to put this inevitable 6-7 out of 10 game out in a “dead” release window so they can pump up their engagement metrics.

Still working on those wonky animations
Hopefully lip syncing, conversations makes it look like an indie game and there really is no excuse for that with Microsoft’s wallet. Would’ve been ten times better with stylized still pictures like in No Rest for the Wicked. Wonky lip sync is the worst.
