Toronto-Age |OT3| Going Off the Rails on a Gravy Train

Kave_Man

come in my shame circle
I'm from a Jamaican family the AC doesn't usually turn on until mid to late June. Unless we get a weeks worth of 30+ humid weather.

"The video doesn't exist."
"Hey guys, the video is at these specific addresses."

This feels just like the story about Ford getting drunk at a Leafs game:

"This is unbelievable," he told the Star. "I wasn't even at the game, so someone's trying to do a real hatchet job on me, let me tell you."

But Tuesday, Ford made a 180-degree turn, admitting he had lied about the incident and apologizing for his behaviour at the hockey game.

"I reflected on it last night, and talked to my family. I came forward and admitted it. That's all I can do. I mean, I'm not perfect," said Ford.

He says the video doesn't exist but sooner or later the truth will come out.

My room is right over the garage so the shingles there just absorb heat and radiate into my room, which makes my room slighty (much) hotter than the rest of the house. I swear my PC parts are idling at 50C right now.

The lawnmower also broke down on me barely 10% into the lawn. And I live at the end of a street leading into a cul-de-sac, so our lawn is super big and I let the grass grow longer than it should have between cuts. Fuck today (even if it is my dad's birthday)

I know that feel. I just came back inside after mowing the lawn. I tried to mow the lawn a couple of weeks ago, but I ran out of gas, and I didn't have any more.

The grass grew a bit too long and jammed my mower midway through, so I had to drag my mower to the garage to empty it out, then go back to the back yard to finish mowing. I ran over something and it chucked a piece of grass near my eye, and then jammed when I ran over loose rock. I got sprayed with dirt. Since it rained yesterday, the end of my back yard is fucking muddy. :(

My next door neighbour and I share the same small bit of lawn between houses, and he doesn't mow it. So I mowed half of it. He's new, so I'd like to give the guy the benefit of the doubt and say he just doesn't know, but I'd assume the previous owners (really cool people) would've told him.

I've got my AC on full blast and it's pretty nice inside, my neighbours haven't mowed their lawn do neither will I! Summer haters stay in your cage.

5 staffers in the last week, but nothings going on. business as usual at city hall.

I think it's 7. And yeah I think his guilt is confirmed at this point. Just need that video to come out and tie up loose ends.

If it's a really small strip and not "my half and your half of a super big patch of grass but there isn't a conclusive line" (it's still pretty obvious) then just go and cut the whole thing I'd say if you catch him with a mowed lawn but he missed that strip then just kindly remind him. I assume you're supposed to cut it regardless, at least the front facing part you can see. Anything past a fence is fair game.

I'm kinda pissed because this means we have to buy a new mower and all that wasted effort for really nothing.

Oh I know. I'm just being a dick about it.

Oh it's so gross outside. Already complaining the first hot day this year. I'm starting to think I'm getting less tolerant of humid muggy weather as I age.

Watched the live video feed; the reporters/photogs/camera guys all seem to be taking the Mayor's insults in stride; overheard coming from a press corps voice after Ford walked off: a cheery "thanks, maggots!"

Look guys Ford is just saving the city money. What does a mayor need gravy like staffers for?

I think the richest part of that press conference was Doug's assertion that the premier should "get her house in order" before commenting on Toronto's issues.

Leaving aside the gender-based criticism I could make of that statement: Wynne just worked with another party to pass a budget, even in the face of the (temporarily tempered) onslaught of attacks for the Liberals' handling (or bungling, depending on your angle) of various files (energy, health, etc).

I wonder: When was the last time Rob actually negotiated anything? You know, instead of picking fights with people who buy ink by the barrel.

Goddammit. Rogers just shut down CityNews Channel. I always preferred it to CP24 because it was in HD. :<

I didn't think it would last, to be honest, but I didn't think it would be done in 2 years. CP24 pretty much dominates news channels in Toronto.

And CP24 is in HD. 1566 on Bell.

Yeah, I figured CP24 was in HD on Bell since it's a Bell channel. Much like Comedy Network and Discovery Channel, Bell withholds the HD versions of its channels from Rogers for a while. I finally got those two in HD about a year ago. Hopefully CP24 will follow.

And TSN used to cost extra to get in HD

What about OTA broadcasts? I read recently that Canada doesnt have anything like the Cable Card program. Is there anyway to cut the cord?

As someone who works construction I see a whole lot of whiners in this thread. :p

I hope you drown out there
Only thing that really sucks is that I'm currently working at the new facility at the Disco Road transfer station (yeah, where they're looking for more body parts) and the yard waste close by makes it even more humid.

I'm okay with this.

Nash would have set our treadmill down to a 5 instead of the 8 it is currently at which may force us to actually give up and stop running.

It's that point when a girl tells you she is really is a lesbian and can't go out with you. Then you see her making out with another man.

:(

Not so sure about that. From that story it seems like Nash's ex is trying to move to California to take advantage of more ex wife friendly laws in California.

EvilMario

Will QA for food.
It's funny that Nash went to LA to chase a ring, Derek Fisher style and basically became a worse version of Fisher; A guy who stands in the corner and shoots threes. What a terrible fit, making him play without the ball. Not having Phoenix's medical staff hurts too.

And yeah, it would have made zero sense for him, or the Raptors.

Hard to tell how much is bullshit, since he did use the kids excuse to go to LA in the first place, but

Nash said he sees the kids in Arizona at LEAST as much as would in L.A. ... and maintained that her only motivation for moving is so California courts can nail him for child support -- which he says would really only support her lavish taste.

“A major reason we divorced was her incessant spending, social climbing, materialism,” he said.

Nash testified about several occasions when Alejandra made it difficult for him to see 8-year-old twin girls Lola and Bella, and 2-year-old son Matteo Joel … including a Christmas homestand, when Nash wanted his girlfriend to escort the kids on a flight to L.A.

“She had none of that,” Nash said.

Nash said he can totally afford child support ... he just doesn't want it to ruin his kids: “I don’t want my high-privileged lifestyle ... to be an artificial environment.”

Yep, was never gonna work with Kobe dominating the ball. Hell, thinking on it, he managed to make Dwight/Pau/Nash look/play worse to accommodate his game, what a leader.

I have no idea why City ever gave up CP24 to begin with. I used to watch BT on there all the time then one day a few years ago it suddenly switched to CTV's control. Nobody ever watched City News channel (yourself as the exception)

Same here. BT on CP24 was a staple of my mornings (well, for about 30 minutes anyway :p) for a while. The transition to "CP24 Breakfast" was... awkward. That's honestly one of the reasons I kinda moved away from CP24 (though the HD thing was the primary reason); I was just like "who are these people?".

City didn't give up CP24, Bell bought CHUM (which owned CityTV, CP24, MUCH, etc) and part of the approval from the CRTC was that Bell had to sell the CityTV channels. Bell chose to keep CP24.

Of course. It's all ATSC over the air, you just need one of those tuners. All channels are digital now. Depending on how far north/how far up you are, sometimes you can get great reception, at least in Toronto. I get at least a half dozen decent quality channels OTA just in an upstairs bedroom with some rabbit ears.

Ah, my bad. Everyone was so used to the CP24 layout that they just kept watching it even though it wasn't controlled by City anymore.

Damn humid weather, I wish I had the fan on.

Now I'm waking up late scheduling calls with recruiters that I don't feel like talking to. Ugh.
