Well he made a little bit of a cameo on Kimmel last night but tonight he is a full on guest.

Move complete - Queen and Bathurst area. So psyched. 15 minute walk to work - I've always been 1-hour or more from work or school in the past. So life-changing. Lol

Fantastic. It's a great area to live when you're young. So close to great food and entertainment. Hopefully you're not a light sleeper because the area can be quite noisy at all times. It's going to be awesome drinking late and then being able to stumble home instead of taking a $50 cab.

I lived at Queen and Augusta for a few years. It is super convenient, although get ready for the screamers after the bars close ;)

There was this one guy who was remarkably consistent, right at 2am every Friday, he'd go strolling down the street bellowing incoherently. We used to look forward to it.

I wonder how much rent is at Queen and Bathurst. My GF works for a charity so we're on a tightish budget. :(

We currently live in the beaches in a pretty nice
bachelor
apartment; full kitchen, laundry, hardwood and tile floor, exposed brick, skylight, above streetlevel, and private entryway. We barely fit ourselves and our junk, but it's an amazing spot with a really good price. I still find myself wishing we could move downtown though.

You keep saying Beaches but don't you mean Danforth... :(.

You tricked me when I thought that LCBO was closer to you when it was actually farther for the PS4

I live right on the border of the two, to be fair. :p

-_-

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyways. I recently went to Sushi Kaji for my 6 year anniversary. Wanted a night to remember and while it was good, I think my expectations were way too high. I had the omakase and also got the extra wagyu sukiyaki as well along with two bottles of sake. Total came to about $600 dollars.

I guess I was just expecting more than what I got. The combinations of ingredients and the flavours were good. I was full at the end of the day. The octopus was the best I've ever had; tender and not rubbery at all. However, for that price we could've had some heavenly steaks at Jacob's Steakhouse.

If you have the money to splurge, I say go ahead and do it. If you want sushi to blow you away though with the quality and taste without the price, I would recommend Taro's Fish or Zen Sushi instead. If you want good quantity with good flavour for a decent price, I'd still recommend Sushi Moto.

All I can say is that I fucking miss Mikado...and I need to go to Hiro Sushi again to get that glorious smoked salmon. There are more pictures, but I don't want to spam them all.

Please do spam the food porn. That looks like really good food from what you've posted.

I've not tried it or any of the other places you've listed. Really interested in trying some.

The only thing missing was Kimmel asking one simple question. "You realize we're laughing at you and not with you, right?"

The interview was embarrassing for Ford, and embarrassing for the city.

I can't believe there are people who still support him.

The thought of him having even the slightest chance of being re-elected is terrifying.

Hmmmm interesting! 600 dollars wow, that's like a Hashimoto meal. Say, would you rather goto Kaji or JaBistro after this experience?

I will have to try JaBistro next. I really just want sushi so a sushi bar not necessarily a Japanese restaurant.

Oh you could do the larger tasting menu which gives you bit of everything, sashimi, sushi, some omakase type stuff etc...

I want to try Kaji, but it's pricey and far away

Hmmmm just looking this up now. Looks legit, so maybe the wife and I will go. I wouldn't recommend Kaji if you're worried about price, try Taro's Fish first. It's also kinda far but holy shit it's good and doesn't cost an arm and leg

Yeah I love Taro's, not far for me since I live pretty close to it and Sushi Moto.

After thinking for months about this I decided it's time for me to move back to Toronto (I'm in Taipei right now). Will probably do it in July because of the semi annual bonus that my company hand out in June. I really wanted to go back but that means leaving the career I have built in the past eight years here and start anew... I'm actually getting really nervous just thinking about this but if I don't move back this year I don't think I will ever be able to go back...I'm turning 33 this year.

So... my number one concern going back is to find a job... I know there are job sites like Monster.ca but how likely is it for me to get contacted without me being physically in Toronto? I'm thinking not very likely... My background is product marketing and project management in semiconductors and from what my friends tell me Toronto is shitty for H/W electrical engineering industry.

Do you guys know any capable head hunter agencies I can contact to ask about my prospects? I'd like to prepare as much as I can for the next few months if that's possible...or at least have an idea what I'm getting into (i.e. possibility of jobless for months).

Though I will be happy to be able to touch metal again without getting some kind of shock.

God I hate this so much. Every single time I get out of the car it will without fail manage to shock me. Even through my leather gloves. >_<

When I know I have to touch something conductive, I always tap my arm against it or another conductive object first. Still get the shock, but can hardly feel it, unlike with my fingers. :\

You have contacts here? If not, it's going to be a bit tough and you may need to rely on head hunters. For me, and I have a LOT of experience with this, it can take anywhere from 6-8 months for something half decent. And I'm not sure you can find a job that will pay as well here...however, with that being said, I wish you the best of luck. This city is horrendous for job seekers right now.

My parents are still in Toronto so I can use their address as my contact if that's what you are referring to. Man 6 - 8 months... I'm not really expecting to get a job that will have the same pay grade relatively to what I'm getting in Taipei right away, meaning I'm sure the salary in Toronto is much higher than Taipei on face value but have to consider the cost of living/housing/national standards etc. What I'm getting here is considered medium-high for the standard here. I do hope that I can find a job that will have the outlook of getting me back to the standard I am getting in Taipei.

My worst nightmare is if I have to slum it... like getting a cashier job or something :-\

Thanks for the well wishes though!

Meant contacts in a company to get you a referral. Not sure why you'd want to be a cashier after all you've done, even for a city like Toronto you can do better elsewhere. Not trying to dissuade you, but things are tough here and all people here deserve better. Back before the recession it was easy to get a job; I had just gotten back from teaching overseas and applied to a bunch of jobs and got tons of interviews quickly and had 2 offers within weeks.

Now, companies know there is a surplus of workers and are doing stupid shit more often like posting the job to test how much interest and pay they can get, posting the job knowing full well it's for an internal candidate, and simply not interviewing you.

I guess it doesn't help with the new shitty HR questions and tactics that are being employed. I got asked to describe the color pink to a blind person...........

Anyone pass through Yonge Subway this morning? The TTC is giving out numbered buttons. They correspond to the new signage they are implementing.

I scored a 6 and 7 button today, I actually have no idea what those numbers mean since there are only 4 subway lines lol. Hopefully I can get a couple more on my commute back home.

You got "future buttons"! Although I don't know how you got a 7

1. Yonge-University
2. Bloor-Danforth
3. Scarborough RT
4. Sheppard
5. Future line
6. Future line

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ttc-maps-are-subway-names-better-than-numbers-1.2186970

The style of that system is a straight rip from the NYC signage, right down to the reversed Helvetica on black. Not a bad thing though.
