Toronto-Age |OT3| Going Off the Rails on a Gravy Train

Good luck! I remember reading your post here when you got this job and got a pretty sweet location around Queen and Bathurst to live. I read that and remembered when I worked in the area. So much stuff so close to that location. Like for instance I went to Kensington twice a week for lunch at Jumbo Empanadas. It's hard to go back once you've tasted what the city has to offer.

Hope you land on your feet soon. Maybe take a couple of days to have a playcation and get some videogame backlog done.

Thanks man!

I might just do that, but I find it so difficult to lay back and enjoy myself doing anything when something so critical is on the line. You know? Haha.

CBC calling it a liberal government already

It's amazing how toxic Hudak is and how terrible his platform is that they lost this election

Seriously, my parents have been long time fiscal conservatives and even they've been saying "ehhhh , fuck Hudak, that guy is full of shit"

Even though I didn't vote Liberal I'm glad it's going to be a majority. Much better than if it were another Liberal minority rendering this awful campaign an utter waste of time.

I'm frankly very surprised how badly the Liberal candidate in my riding crushed the long time NDP incumbent.
It doesn't even look close.

I will admit I did not follow this election, as the other ones. I grew up in a political family, therefore I really despise politics.

Is there something negative about the liberals winning? I mean yeah, no politician is a saint, but people on my Facebook are talking in a way that would make you think Satan won.

This one girl is going "I am in utter shook. How did we get to this?"

Liberal majority is probably the best result. Allows for more proactive and quicker government right now. Plus it means the NDP are out of the equation which hopefully results in a slight shift to the right for the liberals. Gives real time for the liberals to implement a recovery and growth. The reality is Wynne was the best candidate of the three. Hudak is beyond far right for the PC party and Ontario while Horwath, well no one knows what the hell she is doing but orange tory is now a thing!

From the liberal budget the only major change I really hope happens is the extra pension plan/payroll tax is cut. It's just a horrible idea.

I voted Liberal because I met Kathleen Wynne twice in my lifetime and she seemed nice.

Seriously though, my riding has her so it would be pointless to vote for NDP. The Green Party candidate never really put himself out there either

I'm not surprised Hudak got whipped. Dude has no business being in politics if those were the kinds of policies he was pushing.

Horwath must feel stupid today. NDP went from having some influence in the government by threatening not to support bills unless they contained some NDP led initiatives to being totally shut out of policy again. All because they decided to have the election called.

I voted for the lesser of three evils.

I hated everyone this time and had no desire to vote but I didn't want a Hudak government. Glad he got destroyed.

YEP, bingo. Horwath (and obviously Hudak) big losers today. Still shocked it's a majority. My first time going lib since sponsorship scandal.

I find that liberal is always a good balance between the total business-oriented right wing policies of the PCs and the over-spending socialist policies of the NDP. The other 2 parties are too far over in their policies for me, there always has to be a balance between getting business/jobs and providing services for people like schools/hospitals/unemployment etc.

Can't support a 'majority government' that more than 60% of people didn't vote for. But Wynne is good people. She really really really has to run a tight ship though, the McGuinty scandals weren't manufactured. There was real sleaze and real incompetence that needs to stop.

She does that and I'll be content even though I prefer the NDP.

I really hope we can trust Wynne to run a clean Ontario government.

Can't trust PC, because they're famous for cutting social services which the province needs... NDP seems to be going off the deep end recently, and I voted for them last time.

Honestly, I think the NDP would have competed better if they didn't focus on attacking the other parties and just presented a clean platform.

I've been a polling officer counting ballots and I really have to tell you, wasting the ballot does... really nothing. It might make you feel better and that's great but your protest ballot goes in the same pile as the people too dumb to vote correctly and the "NO PRO LIFE OPTION" guys and the counter is the only one who sees it. There is a NONE OF THE ABOVE party now in some places that would at least show up in detailed stats.

Team winter has cursed me 8000km away because it is 1 degree here this morning.

Wynne is a cunt and a scumbag but all the leaders are so not much to say on her winning.

Wouldn't that spoiled ballot at least be counted in some way? Then at least the politicians would know they didn't get votes not because people were too lazy to get out and vote, but because there were no good options.

Speaking of that, the voter turnout was 52%. That really sucks. I had a bunch of friends that didn't vote. Disappointing.

i'm not surprised about the voter turn out. i almost didn't go, but i did because the polling station was next to the laundry room in my building and i had 5 extra minutes before my drying finished. it seemed pointless, rushed and poorly thought out. i'm just glad we didn't get the conservatives in office.
