Generally speaking, besides Conway and maybe a cabinet member here and there like Tom Price, the White House doesn't send out people to talk to the news about anything. Fox news may be different as I never watch it to know who goes on there. Conway's bullshit spin works as an official response from the Whitehouse where she works.
Hopeyfully this comes on youtube or something. Anybody got a link yet?

Low morale at the FBI, Comey loosing supporters and the need for an impartial person leading the russian investigation.
Firing Comey is only the first step in restoring confidence in the american people on the FBI.
EDIT: also take note that Sessions recused himself from anything russia related and was one of the people to advice the president to get rid of him. *nods

Had quotes from two Republican house members saying Democrats were crying "crocodile tears" but then dodging any questions about whether Trump can be expected to replace Comey with someone who will actually do the Russia investigation.
Seems to be the line they're towing outside of a few exceptions.

The time to have fired Comey was when he took office, because by then he had more than enough time to mull over the facts and make such a decision. Instead he let him keep his job, kissed his ass, and now reneged on that decision because he felt the intensity of the Russia investigation. As far as I am concerned, his "inconsistency" went out the window once Trump allowed him to keep his position, because that was essentially starting anew, and only inconsistencies after that would have mattered (although I completely disagree with how he handled that god damn Clinton announcement during the election).
Anything else is delusional.

No, the proper time to fire Comey is clearly when he's in LA talking to the local FBI agents, and basically gets to learn of it after everyone else mid-speech.

They quoted the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee as being not supportive of this move and NPR stated he was in a solid red state.

The funny part is the Patriot Act didn't even do that. What the government does/did was still illegal.
And when the Director of National Intelligence lied to Congress about them doing it, rather than being fired (let alone held in contempt), he was awarded a medal for his brave service.
Bush, at least, had premeditated cause and a strong motive. This is impulsive and no one was seriously expecting it.
