Trump on Twitter Attacking Republican Leadership

I remember some people be concerned about violence if Obama was elected, but i'd honestly be surprised if there isn't violence if Trump loses. His supporters seem genuinely unhinged. And he's fed them every conspiracy theory (such as how the only way he can lose is if there's voter manipulation) along the way to make sure they're that way.

Does anyone else fear we're going to get a three party system by next election in the worst way possible? Democrats, Ultra Conservative Republicans, and the Lunatic Majority?

Fear it? Nah, if it splits that way it would be incredible.

Yeah but what do you do with the white supremacists with newfound voices and platforms?

Either its hidde and people continue their prejudices

Or its out there in the view of the public, and the public suppresses it if they disagree.

Thesw people will always find echo chambers, atleast now we know who is who.

These people always had a platform with their coded language. Now, theres no denying it.

Trump's gross words from this entire election aside, how exactly does a party defend nominating the host of the celebrity apprentice for president?

10 years? Nah, about 40-50. GOP sold out to these types of people since the 1960s.

It was home to them but I don't think it really openly embraced them until recently, at least not to this degree. I think someone like Bush, Reagon or Romney would be PRETTY quick to denounce David Duke's endorsement, for example, or would take a very different stance on the Khan family comments.

I really see Sarah Palin as the catalyst for the explicitly anti-compromise, anti-fact brand of right wing insanity we are seeing boil over now. The whole Tea Party thing was a precursor to whatever it is going on today.

Make no mistake though - I'm not saying that she CREATED these people. But I think the open embrace of these types as the base by much of the GOP is the new aspect of it.

As someone who actively dislikes the Republican Party, I could not have dreamed of a better candidate to destroy their party from the inside. This is beautiful.

It'd be great if this ended in the GOP losing control of all branches of government. Fuckers need to die off (politically speaking) and disappear like the relics they are.

Time to invest in popcorn.

It's possible that the Trump backlash from the 'establishment' of the Republican party will further motivate Trump voter groups who see him as this brave rogue. That's my fear anyway.

There aren't enough of them.

Yes that's true. For the longest it was dogwhistling and pushing policy that clearly would most negatively affect minorities.

Edit: Completely agreed with the Tea Party sentiments, etc. Can just look at the stark difference of McCain 2000 and McCain 2008.

If Republicans were smart, they would just abandon the party altogether, and form a more Canadian/European style party.

Trump has shown Right-wing politics is toxic. The idea of a party that doesn't believe in global warming or just panders completely to white people is archaic. Time to stop living in the past and embrace minorities and science.

Motivate them to do what? Continue to be vastly outnumbered by minorities, educated white women, and white democrat men?

Republicans have been cultivating this caricature for 35 years and they deserve nothing less. This should end like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

Has to be more evidence, though. Right wing people have been raising their profile worldwide. Especially in Europe. So we can't conclude it is completely toxic.

US, though, needs to send a resounding message this election. If we do, there is hope for the Dems to hopefully play smart and establish a progressive precedent.

Obama has done work on federal courts. Stacking the SCOTUS taking the Senate and making gains in the House will go a long way in helping with that.

Holy fuck, dude really honestly doesn't get it

Expect the most unhinged lunatic Trump tonight. This thing is going to be ugly. Dear god.

All that would accomplish is an automatic democrat win. It wouldn't be three equal parties, it would be one whole party and two halves of a party.

This is amazing. In hindsight, it makes me sort of glad Trump was nominated. It's turning from a short term loss into a long term gain. It feels like the Republican Party is being irreparably damaged and *should* see some major changes after this election cycle. I'm actually a bit hopeful that a concerted effort toward a better level of civility in politics may be made over the next four years. I mean, everyone has to be at their breaking point with all this ugliness, right?

The GOP put a B-list Hollywood actor in the White House and it worked well for them ...

It's especially funny given that Republicans love to complain about celebrities talking politics, yet they're the party that actually nominate celebrities for the presidency,

My (unrealistic) fear is that the Republican Party vanishes like the Wig Party and is replaced by some gross Trump Populaist Party or something.

This kinda loses the plot a little bit. After he was an actor, he got involved in guild politics and was the SAG president at a time where unions were much more overtly political, then he became a national conservative activist, spoke at the RNC, became a two-term Republican governor of the country's biggest state, then he ran for president three times before he was elected.

Hate on Reagan's shitty politics all you want but the man was not unqualified in 1980 and drawing the comparison to Trump only excuses how obviously unqualified Trump is by comparison. Of the 17 people or whatever who ran against him, only Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson were similarly useless--literally anyone else would have made a better presidential nominee on the basis of qualification alone.

You really think they'll even wait for the election to be over?
