Trump supporters want to boycott these businesses after the Super Bowl

The opposite of this - companies refusing to take any sort of public stand on the side of basic human decency - has always sorta befuddled me. Like, I understand the surface reasoning:

"We don't want to take any stance for fear of potentially alienating a significant chunk of our clientele"

I get that. But how is that not an insult on some level, as well? It's basically saying

"Look, it's probably a decent bet a lot of you are real pieces of shit. So shitty that if we ever released an ad that intimated, say "Racism is bad, and Gay people are human beings" you guys might take your business elsewhere. So for the sake of your feelings and our bottom line, we'll be quiet"

I guess that bigoted money spends better, considering how protective a lot of companies are of it. Even when faced with the potential of increased goodwill and potential customer loyalty, they'd rather (over) value continued patronage by people who might get upset at things like "Our immigrant-founded beer company was founded by immigrants" in a commercial

I mean, I understand the cultural algebra, I guess. But it's so automatically fucked.

It's hilarious that someone could come away from that Budweiser advertisement thinking "My life means nothing to Bud". How could the story of the Busch founder's immigration possibly be any kind of comment on the value of your own life? Moreover, prior to that advertisement did you think Budweiser really cared about your life?

It's sad to see that CNN has stooped to doing articles about "Here's some dumb shit idiots said on Twitter".

... Trump supporters want to boycott Lady Gaga?

Two things.

First, I strongly believe that the majority of Trump supporters already didn't like Lady Gaga.

Second, she did absolutely nothing anti-Trump last night. I mean, literally nothing. What are they angry about?

She played Born This Way in front of the VP who is a strong believer in conversion therapy?

At this point Trump and his supporters will be opposed to The Rest of America.

I think that's really the unspoken truth behind most of this stuff. They see themselves as them vs the rest of America.

What did Lady Gaga do that was controversial last night?

Nothing really. She just criticized Trump in the past and supported Hillary in the election. That, alone, is too much for some of these people

That'll be the day. There is no way that the Trump supporters I know could boycott Budweiser AND the NFL.

They wouldn't have anything to talk about for half the year, and they wouldn't have anything to drink. These are the guys who give me shit for drinking Guinness and Loose Cannon, and if doesn't say Bud on the bottle they ain't touching it.

That being said, there's money to be had here... maybe come out with an Alt-Reich beer. It would really be colored water, but they were told it was beer so they'll defend it to the death and tell everyone it tastes even better.

Hardcore Trump fans have concerns that "Born This Way" is too similar to Madonna's "Express Yourself."

They should have done one of those counter-programming things like they used to do during halftime. Can Three Doors Down stretch "Kryptonite" out for 25 minutes?

Patton Oswalt is right: Trumpets and the alt-right only feel threatened and scream for boycott when someone spreads a positive message rather than when they're directly told to fuck off.

Yup. It's an interesting phenomenon. Anytime anyone says something positive regarding unity or other calls for freedom, peace and happiness, you can be sure that Trump supporters will get very, VERY angry and vocal about it, even sometimes to the point of issuing threats and being incredibly hostile.

This can be proven over and over and over again and without fail, they will respond to positivity with as much negativity as they can possibly muster.

All of their beliefs come from a place of pure hatred and divisiveness, rather than a place of love and unity (which they hate).

"Brown people exist and are people" is genuinely the most offensive thing most of these people have ever experienced.

The sentiment that's been getting stated, quoted, repeated and paraphrased since the Super Bowl has been something along the lines of

"It says something about how terrible Trump's reign has been when commercials promoting the most basic of American values are now seen as being radical left-wing anti-American propaganda."

Yep. Just like how I'm being called a "liberal" for the first time in my life because I don't hail the white supremacist god king and hold the government to a basic standard

Oh man, I would love to see them try. A disaster for the ages.

Watching the commercials, I was wondering how angry some people were getting.

Surprised audi didn't make the cut.
lets be real, i dont think many true died in the wool trumpers are buying audis.

Do any of them realize how many companies are under Coke and Pepsi? So they basiclly wont go to the supermarket ever then.

no, no they do not.

After a while these people are only going to be able to eat at Cracker Barrel, shop at Hobby Lobby, and not be able to any electronics.

I really like how just showing a dramatized version of events for the founder of Anheuser-Busch and Budweiser Adolphus Busch is enough for them to boycott. As a German immigrant, he definitely would have heard slurs against him while migrating to Missouri. He served in the Union army etc.

Also, they will boycott brands like Coca-Cola and Pepsi, brands that have long themselves been boycotted by others as being too American or part of American imperialism. The hypocrisy of the far right is very evident now. They are literally what they accuse others of being.

Are they planning on living in a forest, surviving only off of various nuts and river water?

Come on, they'll still have nestle. Nestle doesn't give two shits about the environment. They'll have their bottles of water to go with their crunch bars

Also keep in mind these were same folks who liked it when people "tell it like it is", and decried "outrage culture".

Now they're getting their panties in a twist over people telling it like it is, and are outraged and everyone and everything. The dissonance is astounding.

Oh no, what are Trump supporters going to drink now?

Boycotting Tiffany is hilarious; it's like Trumpets were ever shopping there to begin with.

Have they figured out how to boycott without purchasing from the business they're boycotting yet?
Apparently if you bitch on Twitter about them that counts... even if you still spend money on their products.
The irony in comments from people wishing the company goes out of business on the premise that they may hire immigrants when apparently they desperately want the jobs themselves is some ultra head spinning shit.
My bet is that's the biggest lie of the bunch right there. They actually DON'T want these jobs themselves. They're just riddled with so much hate that they resent the very idea of seeing other people who don't look like them getting gainful employment in THEIR country. They just want these people to be miserable... like them.

Which is why messages of positivity, tolerance and inclusion infuriate them more than anything else.

I saw the 84 Lumber ad and thought "uhh am I the only who thinks this is pro-wall?". It was weird because I saw my liberal friends share it, and even a liberal news outlet share it. I'm glad this thread confirmed it is indeed a pro Trump/wall ad
