I'd call, but my senator is Mitch, so...
Uh, yes actually.
Why do you think this entire thing was done behind closed doors and kept in super secrecy?
They KNEW the backlash is gonna be massive and they want to avoid that.
Protests and organization absolutely DOES work, in this case they're desperately trying to sneak around all that.
As a person that lives in a city that voted Trump by 63% and a red state with no insurance I'm terrified.
I'm already dead aren't I?
It's your own fault for being poor. Maybe Ivanka could hire you as a bodyguard?
Doubly your fault for being born into a poor family. You shoulda bought more money.
Surprise surprise, he got banned for derailing a thread and is trying to hide behind GAF's moderation policy to avoid taking responsibility for his posts.
Homeboy talks a whole bunch of shit but when it comes time to produce receipts he runs and hides behind "You can't talk about moderation!".

Republicans are unlikely to lose senate seats in 2018 due to who is up for re-election so Mitch has no reason to care. The house republicans will get butchered if this passes, but not his problem I guess.Won't this just enrage people?
Do they just want to make a tidy profit for a few years and hope they don't lose seats, Dems don't get into power and try again. Anything for a little money.
Blame Joe Lieberman. He was the 60th vote and refused to give it unless the public option was removed.i would care about this had the Dems had any balls when they wrote the first bill. they didn't, they wrote it behind closed doors, they let the insurance lobby write the bill, and we got what we got. i still don't have health care because i can't afford it and now i owe the taxpayer extra money on top of that due to the fees.
they should have put in a public option. then there would be massive support, people in the streets, etc. what the original bill was was a massive handout to the insurance industry. next time put in a public option.
They're still about to pass a wildly unpopular bill. It's not as if they've been dealing with angry constituents for a few days... It's been months. Angry town hall meetings, protestors on the Hill...
Again, if any of this mattered it wouldn't even be being discussed. The fact that a bill with 16% approval is on the verge of being passed tells you all you have to know about the power of public opinion.

Yes, Trump voters have shown time after time they do not care about anybody else. Hell, most of the times they don't even care about themselves (cue all those "I'd vote for him again" quotes). You guys are arguing against a wall. No amount of beating compassion into Trump voters will change their views. You should instead focus on how it harms him individually.
I'm talking about MASSIVE protests. Like the March for Women, Science, and those against Trump's muslim garbage. If this ranks as a top issue for voters then where is the enthusiasm that fueled protests of those sizes? It doesn't seem like liberal voters are making this as hard as possible for republicans to pass. Hell from my perspective at least, there has been more focus on democrat in-fighting in recent days. There have been protests, the GOP doesn't care though, you saw how McConnell basically forced the cops to drag out those poor weak people when they tried to protests. Republicans are inhuman monsters.

HAHHHAHAAHAHHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
What the fuck!?? That is the most pathetic, petty, childish, brain dead, idiotic reason to have a beef with someone on an internet forum. Idiotic dumbass.

I may be wrong, but I believe this has to go back to the house for another vote from them since there were changes to their version.
America has truly turned into a dystopia.
Foreigner here; what's the latest? Is Obamacare going to survive?
It was never a Utopia.

Most dystopias never were.

They'll care when people break down the White House fence. That takes time, and people just don't have the ability to do things like that, and again as has been mentioned already the GOP doesn't care.
They'll care when people break down the White House fence.
Yeah, unfortunately. Should it pass the Senate (which is looking likely) anyone who says the House will stop it at that point is kidding themselves.House has already indicated they'd pass it as is from the Senate.
I don't believe they specifically said this. I think they said it'd skip committees and just go right to a vote. They didn't indicate they actually had the votes to pass it.House has already indicated they'd pass it as is from the Senate.

I think you guys are underestimating Capitol Hill security lolAnd drag every single crooked bastard politician out of there by their hair. Except trump, his combover doesn't count.

We get the future we deserve or something
It's only a matter of time.
"How many people have to die before you're satisfied?"
For these 301 congressmen, who willingly sentence millions to squalor, suffering, and death, it's incalculable. There is no end they deem 'enough,' not while there's power, and money, and power to get more, and money to grease the gears to grab more power.
I would say that, very soon, the answer from a not insignificant number of people will be "301."
Not with that attitude there won't.There won't be riots over this. Not significant ones at least.
Not with that attitude there won't.
The bill won't even take effect until after the next presidential election. Only the politically informed will be angry until then.
That's not how that works. Obamacare didn't take effect in 2010, but Republicans sure got upset about it regardless and voted the D's out in droves. When the bill itself takes effect is wholly irrelevant, especially since the AARP will no doubt be going for these guys heads if it passes. The bill won't even take effect until after the next presidential election. Only the politically informed will be angry until then.
