Actor Tyler Hoechlin has been cast in the iconic role. You can look for him to make a two-episode appearance at the very beginning of Season 2. Hoechlin was last seen in Richard Linklater’s ‘80s-set baseball dramedy Everybody Wants Some!, in which he had a lead role. He’s also appeared in Road To Perdition, Hall Pass, Solstice and Teen Wolf.

“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” says Supergirl Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg. “We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”

Superman has been referred to on Supergirl many times and has engaged with Melissa Benoist’s Girl of Steel on several occasions via instant messaging. However, so far the only glimpses we’ve seen of him have been from a distance or greatly obscured.

Uh, how is that going to fit with the timeline? Dude is just one year older than Melissa Benoit, but the story relies on the idea that Clark was already grown up when Kara arrived on earth.

Does it matter? They can easily say his 10 or 15 years older.

Age dont matter on televbison.

IIRC Superman doesn't age as fast as normal humans once he reaches adulthood or something like that. So a little makeup and suddenly he'll look plenty older.

For example - Here's Superman in Batman Beyond

Here's Bruce Wayne

Like I said in DC TV: close enough!

The ages on Supergirl are already pretty inconsistent, most of the actors seem to be playing roughly five years younger.

Also Superman traditionally ages slowly anyway.

DID YOU KNOW: Actors are capable of playing characters older than their actual age?

I thought Clark didn't really age.

Ah okay, I would have liked to see an older Superman but apparently is this way actually more true to the source.

Sure, but might as well cast someone who actually fits the age.

Good, nice actor. Curious to see how he'll do. And of course curious to see which Teen Wolf will become a superhero next.

Back in 2013, prior to Affleck's casting, folks were claiming this guy'd be Batman in BvS.

Seems young to play the Superman described in Season 1. Lois typically is older than Clark, that's normal, but Jimmy being older is new.
