Still undecided which way I'm going to vote. My mind says Lib Dem, but something else says 'NO DON'T DO IT!' - possibly the Labour Van going around.

Can Manx even vote in the general election? I didn't think they could, not being a part of the UK.
You are correct mostly, but you missed out on something I said - I only lived there for a few years, so I'm not Manx. I'm English born and lived in the UK for most of my life (and living here now), and my parents where English and are on the voting register. I can vote, its just a tiny bit more work to get my name on the voting register.

Also, iapetus if you're reading this can you add into the thread title about tonights debate? I would but I dont think i have da control.

My flatmate is a graphic designer and he said he felt like the Labour and Tory ones were both nice, but the Labour one looked more like a friendly family brochure - like something you would see in a hospital waiting room or in a travel lobby - whereas he felt the simple Navy Blue tory one looked more serious, official and governmental...

We had to have a talk because he was contemplating basing his voting choice on this.

You may have to talk to him about his judgement of good graphic design too. They're both horrible, on TV from a distance it looked like they could be ok, but looking at them in pdf they've been done by amateurs, and I'd rather dip my balls in acid then use, what looks like, some crappy photoshop filter to get "silk screening" effect!!

It's Lord Adonis. Ignore it, or kick it if you can.

I've made a series of bingo cards if anybody fancies playing along: http://thelinc.co.uk/ylmzi

I have popcorn for this shit.
We discussing it on here or do we fancy a live chatroom thing?

I also finally downloaded the main 3 manifestos today, i'm gonna try to give them a skim before the debate starts.

predictions for debate:

- little actual meaningful debate, neutered by rules, audience limitations and huge preparation beforehand, but still entertaining.
- clegg will benefit most for just being on the same stage, but won't be as skilled at quickly straddling between attacking the two parties and positioning himself as above them as cable was in the chancellors debate.
- brown will do better than expected as people forget he is okay at arguing. will spend 99.99% of the time attacking the tories
- cameron will ignore substantial policy stuff and focus on change, being in the center, change, how the party is no longer nasty, change and his idea of a big society.

You can also listen to it on Radio Five Live who will be doing post game analysis on it too.

I'll be on here and watching at the same time. Though IRC would be cool too if anyone has a spare channel.

Also the Financial Times (I seriously must be the only student who buys it) today accused all 3 parties of having a £30billion shortfall in their cost cutting. They need it to even 'control' the £167billion debt we have now according to the FT's reports. Of course the Business world would rather the government effed off altogether, and they haven't been slow to criticise all parties for 'populist' taxes on big business. However the reality is that bigger cuts than even the LDs are announcing, never mind the other two, are needed. Hopefully they'll spell it out tonight.

Im so glad Im not Gordon Brown, Nick Clegg or David Cameron at the moment. They have a serious amount of pressure on them! I bet all three of them are privately regretting agreeing to it

Sucks that the debate and HIGNFY clash. Ah well, Sky+
Always forget about that because HIGNFY has been a Friday show for so long. Can't get used to it being on a Thursday. Oh well, iPlayer.

If you have ITV.com up they'll be live tracking approval/dissaproval through the debate (I think polling a group in Bolton?)

New YouGov/Sun poll: Con: 37 (-4); Lab: 31 (-1); Lib Dem: 22 (+4). Fieldwork 14-15 April 2010; Sample: 1,490

From the Guardian Live Blog

"Having drink with 2 lib dem advisers (incidentally the Lib Dem's calling the three podiums being "podia") on the 23rd floor of the hotel (beautiful). They are admitting this one is the most important for Clegg. They think more will watch this than Sky, by the BBC's turn, it's too late. He's up first and apparently going to pack a punch. In terms of supreme processology, they say he never wears a watch, so no danger of a Bush moment."

So Clegg has to do well tonight!

So much politics in one evening. That can't be healthy.

Might watch Question Time later, stopped watching it semi-regularly a while ago because of people making the same points and asking the same kind of questions over and over again during the whole expenses issue.

Second debate being on sky is a pain, haven't got it in my uni flat. Have at home... but I'm not going home for a few days just to watch a debate.

Remember, a 20-point swing from Labour to Lib Dem gives us our first Lib Dem government! And Lord Adonis thinks the two parties are the same on most policies, so all Labour voters should actually vote Lib Dem!

It's so crazy it could happen.

I've got a feeling that Clegg's going to come off badly tonight.

I also have a feeling.g that I'm going to win the euro millions every week so I'm not putting too much stock in it. Also have had a few beers at this point.

He hasn't got anything to lose. Even if draws with Brown and Cameron then that's still gonna benefit them.

Im hoping brown and cameron bicker with each other, with clegg looking like the only sane person in the room and therefore coming off best. Kinda what happened in the chancellors debate.

The more thought I give it, the more I think Cameron's going to come out on top.

I'm stuck in a pub discussing darts with very old men.
