Yup, true colors emerging. There's got to be a TON of frustration on the Tory side - and yes I include Sky News in that.

They - and by 'they' I mean parts of the media, both individuals with organisations, and some whole organisations themselves - have been building a narrative right over the weekend that they I guess naively hope would push momentum in a particular direction.

Brown, and now Clegg with that statement above, have completely put the cat amongst the pigeons and completely upturned that bandwagon.

They must be positively fuming, and indeed clearly are by some of these clips. Boulton looked literally red-faced with frustration.

Wait, the Lib Dems want AV?

Hague painting the Lib Dems as only wanting AV and gon't give a shit about education, defence, public services etc
very dodgy, and i suspect hague is twisting it to make it seem like tories as fitting the lib dems

Even if the tories get their coalition the seeds of Camerons destruction have been sown.
There is a lot of anger in tory circles about Camerons little group of advisors and not consulting the wider party.Fun times ahead.

Ah, this is all great stuff. The Adam Boulton/Nick Robinson meltdowns, Brown planning to step down, formal Lib/Lab talks, and a desperate Tory party playing their last card. Sign me up for a coalition with Miliband as PM, Clegg as Foreign Secretary, and Vince Cable as Chancellor. Fingers crossed!

I know this isn't 4chan. But...my face after today:

Hague's bound to be twisting. I imagine he wants PR, but has said AV would be the bare minimum for a deal, and that's what they're going for.

Considering we were expecting no offer of any voting reform at all from the Conservatives, this seems like progress to me, and Cameron's going to get hell for it.

Also, looks like those who are against it will campaign as such.

That was my face when Spurs failed to get their 3rd place in the premiership.

I wonder at which point we'll get them so desperate each party will be offering AV, X amount of cabinet positions, plus 10 hookers in a bed for Nick Clegg. "Wait, Mr Osbourne is offering, 12 hookers, plus that Edward bloke from Twilight"

So unless the Conservatives go through with a minority government (with no Lab/LD coalition appearing) we are going to at least be getting a referendum on AV.

Asked if the Tories would support a referendum on AV if it was proposed by Labour, Hague said Labour was proposing introducing AV without a referendum.

Hague said, under the Tory plans, Tories would be free to campaign against AV in a referendum.

Wtf is AV?

You vote with preferences.

So like first choice, second choice, third choice... to some n number that is decided.

If no one has over 50% of the vote after the first choice tallying the second choices get included too and so on until someone gets over 50%.

We'll see how final that offer on vote reform was from the Tories.

I still think this is a ploy on the LD's part to simply squeeze more out of the Tories. And it seems to be working.

The swings in this have just been astounding. In 48 hours Cameron has gone from basically Prime Minister-elect to all washed up with the Tories facing permanent electoral annihilation :lol

In all other Coalition governments do Party Whips still play a large part? We need to get to a stage where MPs vote in line with their constituents rather than being told how to vote in accordance with the party line.

edit: great Quote from Stephen Frys blog (sorry if already posted)

One of the most puzzling features of the current unstoppable wave of political punditry that is flooding all channels and outlets at the moment (including this one of course) is the peculiar propensity of commentators to feel qualified to extrapolate from the election results the Manifest Will of Britain. “The people have voted for change”, “The people have told Gordon Brown that he has got to go” , “The people are saying that they don’t really trust any one party”, “The people have said that they want Parliament reformed, the tea room in the House of Commons redecorated, new carpeting in the women’s lavatory of the House of Lords and a vegetarian option in the canteen.” What fevered branch of electoral hermeneutics allows any such interpretations on the basis of the summing of millions of individual’s single votes I cannot imagine. It is possible that people do want real change, but a single cross next to a single name is no way to deduce it.
