this is what she said about immigrants
You can't say anything about immigrants ... All these eastern Europeans – where are they coming from?
....erm......Eastern Europe?

To be fair to her though, if that is all she said then Brown did kind of prove her first point. You can't speak up without getting slapped with the bigot label.

I suspect they won't show it because he was most likely wrong

I'm more inclined to believe it's the other way round - they're laying into Brown over this as it is, so if he was wrong that just makes him look as bad as they're trying to make out.

going to interview someone for the students political union tomorrow, not as impressive as jonathonex interviewing candidates, i know, but hey its short notice. once its all done with i might try and interview the new mp, which will probably be hiliary ben.
Haha, thankfully I've just been in charge of it and not asking the questions. It's great as the PPCs have all been quite happy to do it, even though it's just student press, they've also been happy to do interviews with bloggers, people online, anything to get the message out there. It might take them time to respond, but they're all seemingly happy to be heard - through whatever means they can. Two webcasts down, just waiting for our Labour MP to confirm a time. Tory guy was interesting last night, dodging things to a degree but handled it fairly well. Didn't win me over though.

And that Gordon Brown picture is amazing.

He looked like a relative of Biff Tannen

Full exchange is hilarious, he tried so hard to talk her round and actually did it, then got in the car and called her a bigot, :lol congrats Gordon the banking crisis will no longer be what you're remembered for.

What Brown needs to do now, when questioned about calling her a bigot in either Thursdays debate or with Paxman is spin it and go on the attack of the Tories and their bigoted anti-gay stances.. if he doesn't, he's an idiot and doesn't deserve to win an election.

Sky News will have intended for something like this. We're naive if we don't believe other leaders hold negative opinions about some of the people they meet... the only difference here is that Sky were able to eavesdrop and use this in support of their wider News International Tory campaign

That said, Brown should be far more vigilant than this. And he knows it. That picture says it all.

They're not allowed to mention specific things like this in the debates, aren't that? I thought that was why people were annoyed at Bolton.

Still could be brought up by Paxo though.

That convo in the car was the first time he's sounded remotely human. It's weird how people's voices change when the speak in public. You'd think he'd have gotten to used to it.

Brown had asked for that microphone apparently, so people could hear him as he went about town meeting and talking to people. He was attempting to prove how genuine and a people person he was, after complaints he didn't care about the voters and wasn't meeting them.

And then he goes and proves he doesn't like real people at all, oh Gordon you fool.

It's a gift to News International and the Tories, but very much a Brown stunt that backfired.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
What's most surprising to me about this is how different Brown sounds in the car, it's like a different person is talking, much more relaxed. His actual comments were pretty vapid, not just the bigot thing, but the way he talked about not wanting to be put with that woman, made him seem like a cross between Nixon and Howard Hughes. What's even more hilarious is how the lackey in the car says "I'm not sure they [the media] will go with that one", and Brown goes "they will go with it". He knew it was going to be a mess anyway. :lol

The monster. If this man is elected then modern civilisation will crumble. Of this we can be sure.

Oh boy, he's really done it now.

I'm not sure of the impact of this on his campaign (my guess is that it won't be that damaging), but it will surely make immigration a top issue over the next few days.

He's going back to apologise in person right now.

He'd already called to apologise. This could get worse as she said she didn't want to see him.

All those people in her tiny garden. And look at the banner headline. Would never have thought that would be headline news at 9am this morning!

Edit: tinypic took it down!

Fucking hell. Is this really addressing the concerns of the British electorate? Financial Crisis? Phooey. Healthcare? Nah. Education? Not today thanks. Parliamentary reform? Maybe later, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland just has to go and apologise to one woman he made a tasteless remark about.

Fucking disgusting.

True, true, and it's a rather torrid state of affairs. However, New Labour deliberately helped make politics about meaningless PR with Blair, so i don't have a problem with it biting them in the arse.
