Yea, I was playing it on PC. I don't like playing shooters of any kind on consoles, to be honest. I grew up with shooters on PC. And on PC the controls are solid and bearable.

Ok good and agreed.

UI sucks for sure but eh... it's Capcom lulz. Even their UI for RE5 sucked and that's like their biggest selling game this gen.

I don't know if this is in response to my little joke, but there is no doubt he is nap tier. Anyone with eyeballs should see he has the tools to be at LEAST A. I'm pretty sure that 70% of the folks who saw him day 1 agreed that he has some sick potential.

Rox will be a middling character throughout this game's lifespan. Bet it. He's got a lot of execution-heavy potential in terms of combos and setups, but his limbs force him to be played too deliberately to be anything special in terms of competitiveness. Were there not so many good characters that are so much easier to play/if the game had tighter hitboxes that would allow Rox more freedom to move, then maybe he'd be better (basically if this wasn't Marvel 3).

He was my week one main and I had to drop him for the time-being. Not even Flash could make him work atm, despite being able to maximize his B Loop.

I'd imagine. The controls for LP are just clunky and terrible on consoles. It's not even just cause they're not intuitive, it's that I'm not even sure how they can be fixed to be intuitive.

I have been playing Vergil exclusively on point as soon as I got the game and it's been like a month of playing the character. I read impressions of other people playing Vergil, I watch other people play Vergil and I watch videos of the character.

I am no where near mastering or controlling this character at the level that I think he should/could be played at. And I don't think Vergil is a super hard to play character compared to the other characters. I also think he has way more potential than people give him credit for. From the other NEW characters that I have played, the only character that I can say for sure that this character isn't going to develop that much within a few months is Ghost Rider. It's pretty much set in stone that even if you are godly with Ghost Rider, some match ups you will rape and some match ups you will GET raped. I haven't had the same problem with Vergil, just like Viscant said when I lose with Vergil it's not because I lost because of the character.. it's because I lost as a player and if I had done something different with the character I would've won.

Even with basic characters like Wolverine/Wesker in vanilla it took months to figure these characters out. Justin was playing Wolverine since day 1 of vanilla but never considered him like "OMFG BROKEN" and he in fact thought She Hulk was better. It wasn't until a few months down the line at PowerUp tournament where PRBalrog showed how broken his mix ups/B Slash was that the world realized how good Wolverine really is. Wesker is the same... it took months for something basic like the air loop to get polished and broken down by Viscant when before Wesker was just random shoot and teleport all day until you get a hit.

It's going to be months before these new characters are going to be played at the level that they should be played. Older characters are going to dominate until then which is going to make the newer characters struggle unless the top players stick with the new characters as much as they can (like ChrisG who has been a forerunner in Hawkeye tech). And that goes for even the more basic of the new characters. Characters like Strange/RR are going to require a pro who basically toughs it out with them for months on end before finally getting them to click.

Low execution/high reward characters are going to dominate the early tournament life of this game and will define the meta. Slowly the high execution characters will creep up in tournament play. That's not to exclude stuff like patches getting in the way. The game is still in it's infancy even if you include vanilla MVC3.

As far as RR goes, I agree he is going to be under the radar for a lot of this game's tournament life. It all depends if he gets a specialist player to play him until the end. He's not a factor when you train for tournaments at this stage of the game. Too many other characters to worry about that are more frequently used.

All that was unnecessary. Everything you've said is agreeable and none of it contradicts the predictions I've made regarding Rox. They're just predictions.

X-factor he can since it speeds up him which causes the recovery frames on a lot of moves to disappear. Why Skrull is so good at anchor.

Yeah, he may not be able to link in non XF. I know I see people link all the time in XF. Either by XFC or just by the speed boost.

I'm 90% certain the speed boost doesn't work like that, are you positive it works? On the ground?

8+1/-/50(-8) should become 5+1/-/30(-5) with a 40% speed boost in lvl 3 x-factor, right?

If what you're saying is right, then it would mean that hitstun doesn't change relative to the speed boost, making Gimlet at least +15 on hit, more if they were airborne.

Call me an asshole, but it seems like people would be freaking out if he had a 400k 6 frame fullscreen punish hyper that linked into itself.

Hell, if this were true, you'd be able to loop Gimlet and Quick Shot(Hunter) in lvl 3 x-factor.

I wasn't contradicting anything you said I was just making some general statements regarding the new characters.

I don't think anyone is at a level with any of the new characters where they can say "yea I know what this character is capable of in the near future". Hell going back to Ghost Rider I do believe that even if he has some touch match ups with choice assists it brings the match ups back to 5/5. If he has hidden missiles you HAVE to rush him down... and when you have to rush him down you have to deal with his bull shit Heartless Spire, his persistent on activation Yoga Flames, his insanely chip damaging and space covering "Eat Chain", his back kara dash and even his LVL3 which he can easily build up rather quickly.

What? Please explain.

Since back + M + H is option selects with Heartless Spire you can essentially kara by just back + M +H over and over again. It really amplifies his keep away. It's like reverse kara dashing sort of. Hard to explain but easy to do. You can't do this with back + L + M. It's something similar to the whole Vergil Rising Hightime into Dimension Slash kara cancel.

Big SRK invitational in the evening.
I hope it's not set up like the last iplaywinner one (90% talking, 10% action) - they do single elim, but all they did was chat for the first half, when they could have just run nonstop matches with commentary and then did interviews after.

Yeah the format sucks. Marvel should be 3/5 double elimination.

Curley Mustache is next month and will be following that format.

Its 2/3 AND single elimination. Which sucks especially since theres a grand on the line.
WTF. Why is single elimination still used for anything? It's anti-competitive and pro-get-this-tourney-finished-quick :|

Especially with a relatively large pot, thats fucking dumb.

The physical form of blasphemy
Lame as hell. That's a decent amount of money for it to be single elimination. I wonder what the reasoning is.

After watching RE4 mercs footage again, it dawned on me that Wesker didn't have his gdlk Axe kick.

For a game as random as Marvel I find this to be baffling. It's not like they are that many entrants to begin with. And with the penny advertising money you get - it behooves any streamer to have a longer streamed event with a longer view audience. It's more ad revenue.

But whatever.

How important is it to learn Nova's H loops? I can maybe do it 4/10 times.

It's nice high damage, but so are most of his BNB's. Personally I haven't been able to pull them off myself nor have I practiced them much. The combo I posted on the last page does 740k and leads to easy DHC's. More damage is nice but a combo you're hitting 9/10 that does 40k less will be inferior to a combo that does more damage but is dropped 4/10. If you feel you can get it to work almost always with practice, it would be worth it eventually.

Are there any other OTG assists like Dante's Crystal?

Everything else seems to be a quick pickup while crystal holds them there for a second, which is allowing me to experiment with some variations in combos with Vergil... I'd like another option like it -- the closest I came up with quickly was Doom's hidden missles, but there's such a delay between the button press and when they connect.

Well, I've been using Wesker day -5 for the past 8 months because I like Wesker. Shit's not my fault he became god like and everybody jumped on the bandwagon. But since I have a good feeling he'll get over-nerfed and I don't like playing characters that are "shadows of their former self" (regardless of they are still good or not), I'm thinking about switching characters.

I'm thinking Doom or Nova. Right now my team is Vergil and Trish. Although I'm thinking about dropping Vergil because Dante seems to have better potential, and I have now properly adapted to dante's different playstyle via the changes he's received.

Any good basic BnB's for Doom and Nova?

So I'm thinking:

Dante, Trish, Nova
Dante, Doom, Trish

Or

Vergil, Trish, Doom
Vergil, Trish, Nova

Saw Max' episode six a little while ago and it may very well be one of my favorite episodes in his entire Assist me series. I can't wait to watch more of his stuff the scene for UMvC3 continues to develop!

I actually think it's easier to OTG with Hidden Missiles than Low Shot. The latter is way better for combos, though. Have you tried Ghost Rider or Firebrand? Arthur?

Damn, watching West Coast streams must SUCK for you Europe folk.

It's okay you should be watching East Coast streams anyways. Big Two starting at midnight for you folk ain't too bad, but it's a struggle nonetheless.

Ugh, 12AM? Why do I have to work this Sunday... :(

With [redacted] defeated I am now done with Skyward Sword. What a fun ride. Now, I think it's time to take a different ride.

Time to (re)learn me some Marvel!

I figure the best thing to do is to just take a lot of characters out for a test, see how they move and if I like their specials. I'm still thinking of the middle character for my first team. Felicia/???/Arthur. Considering Dante now, he's good for meter building, and that pillar assist of his covers a blind spot for both Felicia and Arthur, but I don't even know where to start with him.

I think I need to ask a stupid Dante question to get started: What's a "bold cancel"? I see a lot of people who know Dante say that it's important, but what is it, exactly?

The reason I'm looking at Dante is that he can do soooooo much, and learning a couple of those things might get me a decently ready Dante. I do want to go online, even if it's been several weeks since release and I'll probably get murderized brutally.

Just now catching up on the last part of the Wednesday Night Fight's, and who the fuck this pure ebonics Chris Tucker wannabe? He wins the award for worst commentator ever. I had to mute it to watch matches.

Nothing he says is funny. Most of it was race this race that. Shit on Starcraft this, call Nemesis a retard. WTF? This guy is too much of a try hard and needs to be kept far the fuck away from the mic. I'd clone Skisonic and let him talk to himself on the mic before listening to this guy Jesus.

i don't think rocket racoon is sleeper tier, more like modok tier aka people know hes good but they can't be bothered to learn the character let alone use the character.

thatcrazyguy said:
hey guys. What are lag switches exactly? What do they do? Do a lot of people use them in fighting games out there?
exactly what it sounds like; a switch that creates lag. its almost like pulling out your ethernet cable and then plugging it back in. i suppose the place to use it is when the opponent's got you in a long combo and you want them to drop it. i don't know anyone who uses them, but fuck all the people that do. if you find yourself magically lagging in the middle of a combo and dropping them, there may be a chance that the opponent is using a lag switch, but most of the time i'd say its just a bad connection and you're being paranoid.

I tried: doom (hidden missles), sentinel (rocket punch), deadpool (katana-rama), x-23 (ankle slice) and I know from experience in vanilla what wesker (samurai edge) is like. I was trying to find a character I can play okay with to use for it... morrigan and strider don't have one, and i think akuma's (if he has one) would be more like the quick one hits... doom's is the best so far, but the delay makes it awkward, so I was looking for other options.

He has his moments but he does indeed try WAY too hard to be a comedic character and most of his jokes reek of unfunny. Actually, him and Ski would be a disaster together.

It's pretty easy to spot try hards and actual funny people, even on streams. I'm sure if dude relaxed a bit too he'd actually be funnier, the characteristics are there.
