oh lawd... it's an hour of botching inputs and getting wrecked by the lance like a fool. This is painful to watch, lol

beef, you counter-picking scrub, this changes nothing! I'll see you in Gem Fighter X Tekken (possibly)

Arthur isn't even a counter-pick to your characters, just YOU.

I think I may have finally found a team that I am going to run with. Anyone want to give me feedback on it?

Vergil (Rapid Slash)
Frank West (Shopping Cart)
Wesker (Samurai Edge)

All three with the a godly white/red color scheme.
Vergil and Frank can do the glitchless DHC Glitch to get Frank two camera shots in one combo, plus Wesker on anchor is always a plus.

A Pretty Panda

fuckin' called it, man
I'm assuming the hitbox on Vergil and Dante's stinger will be huge horizontally. Like take up most of the screen huge.

And with how much Dahbomb talks about the game, I'm surprised he doesn't know how hitbox visualizations work. Hmmmm.

The physical form of blasphemy
Dante's J.S hitbox doesn't seem godly enough. If you press a button behind him, then your still getting hit and eating one of his thousand otg moves. It's like his cape and boots have a hitbox as well.

I can't actually recall ever getting hit by Dante's j.S from behind, and I bitch about his normals more than anyone on this forum.

If that move has a hitbox behind him, it must only be for a few frames.

I was semi-interested in the Vita until I found out it wasn't BC.
lol really?

It's not BC? Yuck, that sucks. I like my modded PSP. Maybe as soon as Vita is cool like that, I'll have more incentive. I love playing CPS2/Neo-Geo games while out and about. Maybe the Vita will be able to handle Model3/CPS3/Naomi emulators in the future as well.

I get nailed by it from behind all the time. In fact, I'd say around 40% of my Dante deaths are from it.

lol really?
Well, I never got a PSP, and there are some games I always wanted to play. So if I could get a 2-in-1 thing going on, it seemed like a good thing. Not that I would get it at launch, just that I would eventually purchase it. I loved my DS so much primarily because of all the great GBA games I got to catch up on.

Nothing on the Vita interests me as of yet. Sony seems to have the idea that it's a good thing to make it a PS3 Portable, which means Vita titles will already be available to me. So why buy the system? :p

Oh, just to clarify so I'm not spreading misinformation: it can play PSP games, but only if they were gotten through digital download. It won't play physical copies. If you own a physical copy for a game, they'll give you a piddly-squat discount on the digital version, I heard.

I mean "really?" in regard to the fact that it isn't BC. I never had a PSP either. I do not understand the market that Sony seems to be continually pursuing with their handhelds.

wrt MVC3, I'm pretty sure that I'm done with H&H online after this week. I want the color unlocks but don't want to have to "waste" a week allying with the wrong faction, so I'm just going to wait and bandwagon for the winning side in future weeks. Oh well.

I've only gotten tagged from behind by it from the first few frames when he first swings down. Can't say I've ever gotten hit by it past those first few frames. Hammer, on the other hand...

The hitbox is fine, it's just that he gets a stupid hard knockdown after it.
getting a hard knockdown isn't that much of a problem. its the absurdly long knockdown it causes that is the problem. players can dash across the damn screen and still catch people. they need shorten it so people can actually get good with him and not just throw out random foot dives and hope people press buttons. capcom needs to fix some of the hit boxes. the other day i got air juggled by hawkeye and he didn't hit me once with his weapons but i did get his by his back.

Let's just agree that it is a combination of far too many good things the foot dive has going for it that makes it stupid.

Dante has bullshit hitboxes; fuck that guy and because he can cancel out of that stupid jumping h move thing.

Seriously, fuck that guy.

And Wesker. Those two just irritate me to death. At least Dante takes some technical skill though to perform long combos even if his hit boxes and toolsets are ridiculously good. Even herp derp Wesker combos do a ton, but guys who know his loops and such? Forget it. No other character has it as easy in a match as Wesker. Big health, Big damage, ridiculous glasses boosts, random crossups from lvl 1 hyper making them randomly nigh-unblockable to people which leads into big damage, and X-factor boosts that are enormous. Glasses +lvl 3 means he's the only guy in the game with lvl 4 X-factor. Thank God he doesn't have a devil trigger or denjin to put on top of that lvl 4-like stuff.

Grumpy time ):C

Maybe its a good thing I stopped playing this game as seriously as I did vanilla. I cooled off for the sake of school, but Wesker just has me feeling like whats the point in trying to get good anymore? People will just choose the guy that takes the least skill to ride to the top so its not like I'll see many cool players anymore and I'll always be at a disadvantage to the good players who are also using this same character even if I get on level with them play-wise.

Companies should make fun of themselves more during April Fools. Wouldn't it be awesome if Capcom fake-announced Ultimater Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and its sequel, Ultimaterest Marvel vs. Capcom 3, simultaneously on April 1?

Honestly, Wesker rarely even gives me trouble. He's not one of the characters that scares me in this game. I think that's largely due to my team having so many anti-Wesker tools though, and people being overconfident with him.

That's not to say that I don't recognize that he's OP.

Let's just all agree that Wesker is really cool and deserves to get 800k meterless combos while having above average health and being entirely safe while naturally protecting assists. And having a lvl 3 that does 700k in lvl1 x-factor.

Feel the same way. Honestly, characters like Super Skrull and Trish scare me more, just because they add a lot more to a team in terms of ridiculous setups IMO. There's very little I haven't seen from a Wesker out there.

By the way Killa Sasa, I've been using my Spiderman team more and more lately, any resources/tips? I'm using Felicia/Spider-Man/Sentinel when I'm burnt out on my Wesker team.

Actually, here are characters that give me the most problems when played well:
Super-Skrull
Hulk
Dante
Vergil
Spider-man
Spencer
Strider
Deadpool
Magneto
Nova

Of these, I'd want minor nerfs to about half of them. If you haven't noticed, most of these guys get in for free, possibly even with frame advantage or the ability to block while doing so. I don't get why more people don't play Deadpool - he's so GOOD.

Deadpool's very very good, but also very, very hard to play well.

yeah deadpool's instant teleport while hitting you low is so fucking annoying.

Now that you put it that way, I am kind of a tier whore, aren't I?

Its weird though. You seem to go for big damage high health guys before things take off. You went for Thor early in vanilla and Nemesis early in Ultimate. You just seem to give up and switch to whatever agreed top tier as you go along though. Even now you're considering Hawkeye just for tools and you hate the character. None of the guys you were hyped to play are on your teams now.

I really thought you were going to stay character loyal to Nemesis and play him in this game as your guy, but I thought the same about Thor too. Its pretty fun being the guy who sticks to his guy even if he isn't the best. I played Haggar that way and I play Iron Fist that way *1million. Hell I pumped up Spencer pre-vanilla because I believed after playing and analyzing Bionic Commando that it had a lot more potential than was realized. That potential made me a Spencer fan which is why I loved Combofiend so much.
It just sort of makes every thing mean more than just racking up wins. Its personal. Course the easy road would be to make myself convinced I'm a die hard fan of whoever is top tier I guess, but what would be the point in playing someone I didn't really feel anything for even if I won? Its just really satisfying coming up with teams to try to support your favorite character to make them better.

Just watch the matches between Beef and Degen. Great matches all along for you two. I played with you two when the game first came out and you guys are especially good now. It was really entertaining to watch, although I feel for that Arthur chip. And points to Degen for using Hulk.

The weird thing is that I don't even really play Arthur outside of H&H because his mobility is ass. VJoe is probably the character that I'll stick with for life, and I like Frank because he's a good character when he's not Level 1. And Ryu is...well, he's Ryu. Those are the only characters in the game that I know I can use; if I use any other character it'll just be a poor XCOPY version of a better player.

I thought you had great synergy and used Arthur very effectively. And your mix-up with V.Joe too was really nice to watch

Wanna teach me? :D

"I'll just stop playing because I'll be at a disadvantage against equally skilled players." That's been the case in any fighting game. Yeah, Wesker could use some tweaking, but he hasn't broken the game. Far from it. The complaining is ridiculous.

And later you speak of being a Spencer fan. Spencer is incredible in Ultimate. I think Spencer beats Wesker easily on a higher level.

For those of you playing H&H online, have you been running into an unusual number of opponents with the Hero bonus lately?

I'm playing Heroes side on 360, and the last eight people I've come across have had it. I've kept count. Sometimes I'll beat them and strip them of their bonus, then get matched up with the same person in my next match, and they'll already have the bonus again. This has happened at least twice.

I'm about to throw in the towel. This particular bonus gives you extra meter and possibly even a little extra stamina/damage, and I just can't keep up.

Why the fuck did they limit the casual silly mode to serious business ladder matchmaking only and tie some team-dependent unlocks to it?

Could you explain what the Hero Bonus is? I saw the prompt that gave me the Hero Bonus and I accidentally skipped it, so I didn't get to see the details regarding it. I've had the Hero Bonus for a few days, and haven't lost yet, so I'm not sure what the criteria is for getting it and keeping it. I'm also not sure what it does besides give you more points for wins?

It "increases stats." I know for a fact that it gives you two extra meters to start with. I suspect that it improves your stamina and/or damage output as well. You keep it until you lose.

Who fucking knows. If you're on Heralds side this week, you apparently get it every time you win.

*flips table*

Hahah, I'm on Heroes side. I'm sticking with Heroes because the only characters I want the Herald colors for are on the Capcom side. I really want the Heroes to win this week. :(

Wesker was the first character I ever picked, before the game even came out. He's more fun to me than other characters because playing him feels like Jedah from Vampire Saviour, hit and run, hit and run. Same with Phoenix, I love lame safe offense in every game. I like Magneto slightly more than Wesker, but I don't like the characters he works with as much. It just turned out that Wesker is really good.

Nemesis I was hype for because I'm just a huge RE fan and I had just finished replaying RE3 when he got announced. I also used to play Jill in vanilla. Thor I don't give a shit about, but I didn't really understand the limits of characters when I thought he was good. I figured air to air command grabs made him a god. But it turned out that he's just a delusional hippie. I don't really look at characters as anything but tools, I approach the game from an RTS sort of perspective.

I'm not really a tier whore, but I'm also not really a character specialist. I find a playstyle that I like, and then break down every character I can on my own time until I find the best combination that works for me. I would never have used Captain America if I was browsing forums for bullshit tournament results. And I've never heard of anyone but me using him explicity for Charging Star assist. I don't even go into the SRK forums because I'm afraid I'll miss something if I try to copy other people. And the rare times I've tried to pull tech from the internet, it's wound up being mostly useless. I'd rather just watch Justin Wong and Viscant replays.

Following the train of thought of "things that aren't really broken or OP per se but don't make much sense" is Nova's airthrow > into OTG > into combo. I mean it is obviously good for the character and I'm not complaining from an objective point of view but every time I see it happen it just makes my head hurt. How does he fling somebody across the screen and have/is given enough time to a make a sandwich, do the laundry, buy some groceries, drop off and pick up his son from day care, walk the dog, take a dump, hit up the basketball game, take his wife out to dinner, go out drinking with his buddies, casually save the universe and then come back and OTG you. Like really?

He doesn't have that much time to OTG. It's not like Doom S. footdive, where he can actually TRADE, then recover, then still have enough time to OTG. That's just kinda dumb. The slide OTG was designed specifically to allow Nova to continue a combo after an airthrow. They could have just as easily made him throw you closer, and have a shorter range OTG. Him flinging you across the screen was probably more of a design choice than anything, really.
