Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 |OT4| Nothing Stops This Patch!

Oh yeah, I don't blame you.
I'm going to try to work through my PS3 backlog before I buy anything else.
But I usually just end up playing fighting games instead lol.
I still have an untouched copy of Kingdom Hearts HD to play.

Wright folds hard against competent keepaway.
Something like Hawkeye + Beam Assist just tears through the maya shield.
Once he gets going with turnabout mode tho, ooh boy!

I do much better with rushdown against slasher when I've got a point character with a good command grab.

Whhaaaaat? Really?

I can't rush that fool for shit. It would probably help if I actually played with a horizontal assist every now and then.

Dr. Doom is actually really fun to play on point!
I haven't really used Doom outside of random select since Vanilla.

I'm not sure what team I'll settle on but the following teams seemed pretty fun:
1. Doom/Dante/Strider
2. Doom/Storm/Sentinel
3. Doom/Hsien-Ko/Arthur

I'm also gonna try my main team with Doom instead of Hawkeye.
(Felicia/Doom/Strider)

I guess I may have gone over to the dark side guys. :/

All teams that I've played and they're all fun. I play the 3rd team as an Arthur team though, so I use a different order

I strongly urge that if you play Arthur you try him out with Iron Fist Rising fang sometime. Its frustrating as hell to deal with that zoning and if you tag out Iron Fist can wave dash inside the daggers like a protective skirt. They also have some fun DHC stuff. Just choice a point character with cornering. Taskmaster, Zero, MODOK all work.

That actually sounds pretty fun. Gonna have to give that a shot. Been trying to find an Iron Fist team for a long time

(I swear I was trying to tech those),

Teching is impossible in this game. Even when it's as telegraphed as Nova's and I'm waiting for it I still get hit by it every time. I am so weak to throw resets.

Wright folds hard against competent keepaway.

Yea this makes my efforts feel damn near impossible with teams like this. Not only does Wright get destroyed by this but Hulk as well.

I do much better with rushdown against slasher when I've got a point character with a good command grab.

Good rushdown can be really hard for me. Certain characters can rushdown all they want with little repercussions. Wesker, Magneto and Nova are the worst. Wesker's teleport + command throw is stupid good against Wright and a teleport H + S will hit any Wright who is not dead center of the shield. Nova has stupid high low mixups and a fast fly. Magneto is the worst. He wins almost every round start, so I can't do anything but back away and pray I don't get grabbed. Magneto can dash from half screen and do his high low fly unfly shenanigans and even when that doesn't work he can just magnetic blast. Magnetic blast hits so fast you will get hit before Maya even comes out.

I try and I fail :( .....and then a wild Turnabout Wright appears!

......then I'm put on trial and I'm apparently guilty as fuck every time.

What's a good Morrigan BnB? I can get a little more than 500k meterless, but it seems like she should be able to do a lot more. Maybe I just need assists.

As you mentioned, the connection wasn't great, but thanks for the FT7, smurfx! I always enjoy getting in some games against good Haggar players, as I definitely need more practice against that character.

Sheesh 500k? I can barely break 350k. Admittedly, I am not a combo monster, but still.

You have about pushed her to the limit there. She has terrible damage.

Doing Feral Stance canceling combos killed my wrist. Especially the one where you cancel Flip Kick(?) into itself 8 or 9 times.

Man Storm has amazing movement and is incredibly fun to play, but holy shit is it impossible to find a team for her that works.

I love messing around with Iron Fist. I usually roll with IF/Spencer/Hawkeye. It's TOD with the IF/Spencer shell.

Iron Fist is one of my least used characters, and Arthur is one of my most used... I may have to try IF out with Arthur.

Trust me when I say I tried every single thing you could to get a good Iron Fist team. Arthur and Iron fist are bros for life. Pattern that makes for the strongest Iron fist team goes as follows.

  1. Cornering expert in the front-this is so Ironfist doesn't have to lose a ton of health vs fully backed starter trying to get in. Ironfist's roll here is to back them with Rising Fang and to finish their plate with his high damage once they achieve for him the all important corner position that makes him the most threatening.
  2. Iron Fist set to Rising Fang- Iron Fist isn't a good anchor, but is an amazing assist. Put him second and put him in to finish combos and to take over in the corner once you achieve that spot.
  3. Beam coverage anchor character- Iron Fist needs someone to deal with beams as he wont always hold folks in the corner or be on screen of his own will. Once he's out he has to get in and beams ruin him due to his low air mobility and poor beam answers. Out of all the answers Arthur is the best. He is tied for Hawkeye for being the one of the best at horizontal projectile control and in Gold armor surpasses him with that 5 hits of durability plus piercing per dagger they do. Even without armor he still has 3 hits of durability per dagger allowing him a LOT of projectile nullification. Unlike Hawkeye though the daggers travel slow enough you can wave dash INSIDE of them...with Hawkeye's arrows they exit the screen so fast you often dont get to chase them in.

My team was Taskmaster (parabolic)/Ironfist (rising fang)/Arthur (daggers)

Out of all the point characters that corner I chose Taskmaster simply because his parabolic shot in the corner provided Iron Fist a way to lockdown incoming characters to start his pressure with. Plus Taskmaster's zoning benefits heavily from rising fang backing as did MODOK's. Have fun using this system to build Iron Fist teams. Its the best way to get him out there and enjoy him without suffering a ton of damage first. Plus that Rising Fang is a joy on teams to play with as is dark arthur anchor and his daggers. I'd often start Arthur and zone with him and gold armor out after taking their first so that I could enjoy Iron Fist backed by the ridiculous gold armor daggers.

I would have never guessed shaoweb that you used Iron Fist second. He always seemed like a strong point character only type.

I tried him on point forever, but realized that he was the same as my vanilla Ryu. He was great with the proper assist, but if you tried starting him he had problems. For Ryu in vanilla those problems were mainly meter for me, but for Iron Fist it was his health...vs other characters backed by 2 assists Iron Fist invariably started out suffering a lot of chip or damage and not using his assist is a crime. It was best to put him in second to empower guys who could make him start out in his corner game position on the screen and to use him once the first character was lost by the opponent. He's much harder to deal with if you do it this way and you get to use him more during the match this way.

Fun trend that I noticed with my team. As I zoned like mad backed by Daggers and Iron Fist assist or as Arthur backed by parabolic shot and Iron fist assist folks would get into a rhythm of dealing with this team as a runaway, but if Iron Fist made it in with daggers and had to rush down they completely lost their rhythm to the team as the change in pattern is really dramatic with how rushdown Iron fist is once he's out and properly backed. It happened more than it should that this team switched gears so hard mid match that it through off my opponent's rhythm on what to expect out of me because with daggers you dont have to play patient anymore with Iron Fist and runaway zoning patiently was all I did before these moments. Its fun, try it out sometime.

BTW another character that played well with this was Dante with jam session assist since once DHC-ed out he could assuredly lock the oncoming character into the corner for Iron Fist same as Tasky did.

Great post. Some characters definitely compliment eachother well.

I'm not a big IF fan and haven't used him very much but I like to use all the characters, I'm pretty good with Arthur already so it gives me more reason to use him. And I'll definitely look into using him more when I next play it. I'm really wrapped up in Pokemon X right now lol.

Storm feels so weird to use, but she's fun. I should put some time into trying to use her, especially after a team I fought (I think it was Mango Sentinel). Air Six Machine Cannon with the huge delay afterwards, which turns into a Hail Storm. :lol
Sollune has a great Iron Fist.

I've tried to zone his IF out before, but he just doesn't care. :(

Oh well. I'll just work on doing the corner infinite since I can get it off of assists at the end of a combo.

I might be able to get it off a raw tag from Magneto, but it'll probably involve cutting the combo short.

The timing is the same as Magneto's EMP loop so it shouldn't be too hard to learn.

Sometimes, my finger has a mind of its own. I blocked like five consecutive high/low mixups from Nova and I was only half paying attention. It's so weird how that happens sometimes.

I think I'm gonna run IronFist/Dante/Arthur for a bit. I really want to use Iron Fist second, but I'm gonna have to play him on point for a while because I won't be able to learn anything with him if I play him second.

I dunno man...I put her on a ton of teams, but I guess it just depends on where you're trying to put her. I think she's strictly a second character.

Yeah that was me. Joe/Storm/Sentinel. A super fun team to play and once you get to two bars you can kill almost any assist call with Six Cannon dhc Hail Storm (lol bye bye Doom missiles, you bitch). Plus you can bail yourself out with Mach Speed dhc Hail Storm. The dhc synergy you get from Storm is just great. And if you land a happy birthday, they are in deep shit.

Hmm how so? I think every character in this game can shine with the right team? What is it your having trouble specifically with Storm?

I wanna play her with Magneto, but I don't want to play Sentinel.

I've tried Magneto/Storm/Doom and Storm/Morrigan/Magneto, but those teams really don't work all that well it seems to me.

What's wrong with Magneto/Storm/Doom? I've played that and it seemed to work out quite well. I played with Doom rocks though. I imagine it would work out well with Missiles too....assuming that's what you were using.

I've used Ammy, Akuma, Strange, and Iron Man with them too. All worked out well. Raccoon might, but I've never tried that.
