UMVC3: Phoenix Wright and Nova Revealed!

So his level 3 doesn't need evidence to do full damage, that's at least a bright point.
They should've upped Arthur's For the Princess!

hey guys, i missed the importance of hitting the OBJECTION attack. do you have to hit that to power up or hit level 3 or something?

what is Turnabout?

if someone wants to fill me in on his power ups work that'd be awesome! :D

You have to land an Objection to enter the powered up mode that gives you the gigantic finger normals and access to his level 3.

His OBJECTION bubble needs to hit your opponent or his/her assist once you have 3 proper pieces of evidence, and he'll go to Turnabout mode. It's a power-up mode with a timer, but it lasts longer than any mode in the game. It powers up all of his moves, and grants access to his level 3 hyper, which hits full-screen and for 600k unscaled.

Missile was in Ghost Trick. Are they the same dog?

No but it's hinted that PW might have a Sissel alt which changes Missile too, at least I really hope so. I assume Maya would have a Lynne alt.

Maaaaaaaaan, if Peter can't block during ANY part of his airdash anymore...T_T

I'll still play him, but I doubt this whole Zip cancel thing will make up for the huge damage nerfs and now mobility nerf. His is so long, he'll be vulnerable as shit. Only to be used for poorman trijumps and mixups :(

Nova looks real traditional, but I think I'll anchor him. Looks somewhat self-sufficient.

Oh man.

THIS HAS TO BE TRUE

Essentially, Phoenix has 3 modes.
In investigation mode (magnifying glass), he can call Maya (shield and slide), and picks up evidence. There's bad and good evidence, and you can toss out either. You also have access to only one super, which is the Maya one.

In court mode (attorney badge), his specials change - he can no longer call Maya, but instead throws his papers and has the haters gonna hate walk. The different kinds of evidence give him different projectiles if he presents them, like the knife does a triple spread shot, the vase does a mortar shot, the cellphone puts out balls that then home, etc. If you present no or bad evidence, you will get a slow disappointed animation that is punishable. This mode also allows you to use the nightmare gavel super additionally to the Maya super.

You can switch between investigation and court mode.

If in court mode, you can throw out the OBJECTION! bubble, and if you hit it, it will then switch you into turnabout mode (pointing finger). There you'll get the big glowy fingers and the specials from court mode are powered up. In this mode you have access to his Level 3, which hits pretty much everywhere on the screen and OTG.

Hope that helped.

If she's the one on the bottom right corner than I don't think she has anything on her.

Yeah I didn't see anything either. Not expecting anything, but cool either way.

That's not what they said. You need three good pieces of evidence to land the Turnabout mode starting Objection from Courtroom mode. When you're in Turnabout mode, you can't drop the evidence. Only lay down the law! Then you lose all the evidence and drop back in Investigation mode when the level 3 ends.

Also, did anyone catch what Seth implied? Phoenix Wright can tag out in Turnabout mode and keep it. So... DHC into 600k damage? Doesn't matter from what, it hits anywhere.

I think I could grow to like Phoenix Wright quite a bit, I love going for the mad characters in fighting games, and well, Wright is that character.

off-topic question

does the fact they are streaming the same SF X T build mean we probably wont be seeing playable balrog, juri and vega?

it would be shame to be just trailers released with no gameplay streams.

anybody see the nova red health mechanic...that miraculously made him look less boring?

1. Call him as assist to take dmg on purpose
2. DHC into his beam super for big damage. And lose all the red life. :(

PROPOSED FAN MOVELIST FOR STARDUST

23374853157069236.jpg

Stardust is, together with Silver Surfer, the current Herald of Galactus - the Devourer indeed currently holds himself 2 of them. While the Surfer is the more popular Herald, and there are other better known former Heralds, Stardust is the most recent and loyal one. His loyalty was proven when he fed Galactus with the remaining members of his wiped out species; Stardust was the last one to remain. Additionally, Silver Surfer is difficult to implement due to his surf board, thusly, if there was a Herald of Galactus added, it should be Stardust, as he is current and most likely will stay with the Devourer. Not only would his powers add something very unique, but also the fact he uses a polearm as his main weapon, which is something we do not have in MvC3 yet.

Stardust is one of the several wielders of the Power Cosmic, the amazing powers that Galactus bestows upon his servants. To channel these immense energies, he uses a cosmic halberd, which he also is able to wield like its original weapon. Additionally, Stardust is an ethereal being, thusly he has no actual physical form unless he wishes so.

200px-Betaraybill01.jpg

Here you can see the halberd in use.

For his normal stance, Stardust slightly hovers above the ground similarly to Storm, Dr. Strange and the likes. He has airdashes in all 8 directions and can fly.

NORMAL MOVES:

St.L: Stardust sticks out the lower end of his axe. It hits very quickly, but has low range and actually hits low.

St.M: He whacks forward with the upper blade of the halberd. It's fairly quick as well, but also has comparably low range. Using both this and St.L is very safe on block and allows for a very basic but useful mixup option.

St.H: Stardust brings his halberd down onto the opponent, doing a slash directly forward. This has high range (even hitting diagonally above Stardust and covering almost the entire screen) but its startup is a bit on the slower side. It does not link with St. L and M, thus the ABC-combination does not work for Stardust. However, this also causes a groundbounce.

Cr.L: The Herald whips his tail forward. It has decent range and is very quick.

Cr.M: Stardust sweeps the floor with his halberd. Good range, medium speed.

Cr.H: Engulfing himself with silver energy, Stardust slidekicks forward. It has about the same speed and range as Magneto's slide and hits OTG.

J.L: He does a quick karate chop forward, which has low range but is really quick.

J.M: The Herald stabs his blade forward, allowing for a move with quick startup but some bad ending time. It also has very good range, going almost the entire screen. If it does hit, it

J.H: Stardust slashes upwards, which moves the enemy up a little bit. It covers the air diagonally below and above him. He doesn't use the entire halberd for this, so while it has high range, it's not frightening much. It is fairly quick, though, and has the property of shoving an opponent hit with it to go upwards.

S: Slamming the ground with his halberd's staff, he causes a small energy blast. In terms of both speed and range it's similar to Dr. Doom's.

J.S: Swooping his halberd downward, Stardust can cover a lot of range with this and it has decent speed as well - comparable with Sentinel's pan.

SPEAR OF STARDUST: F+H

The Herald stabs forward his halberd, using the Power Cosmic to augment his own strength, thusly engulfing the blade into silver energy. This has insane range and wallbounces, however, it is very punishable, although the speed by itself is decent. It can be cancelled, though.

SPECIAL MOVES:

FLIGHT: QCB + S

TELEPORT: Reverse DP + Att.

L version teleports Stardust towards the target. He will appear just in front of the opponent. He is airborne in any case, whether the opponent is grounded or not.

M version teleports Stardust away from the target. If the opponent is grounded, then Stardust will teleport a set distance away from him (about 3/4 of the screen). If the opponent is in mid-air, then Stardust will teleport down and away to the ground just like in the game.

H versions teleports Stardust behind the enemy and tracks their current position - if they are in the air, so is Stardust, if they are on the ground, so will the Herald be.

In all versions, Stardust vanishes into... well... star dust and manifests himself at the location wanted. In terms of speed, they are comparable to Dormammu's, and Stardust is still vulnerable while he turns into particles. He is able to use all of his teleports both airborne and on the ground.

COSMIC RAY: QCF + Att
Stardust summons the Power Cosmic from his halberd, channeling it into a silver beam of energy. It has about the same startup and size of Doom's beams.

L version: On ground straight forward, airborne diagonally down.

M version: On ground diagonally upward, airborne straight forward.

H version: Same as L version in terms of direction, but this beam is thicker and more powerful, but has slower startup.

GRAVITATIONAL DISTURBANCE : DP + Att.
Stardust places a sphere of energy in front of him that causes the gravitation to change. This will allow him to manipulate the battlefield, and each version works differently. They stay out for 3 seconds and vanish. When Stardust already has a disturbance out and places another, the old one vanishes. If Stardust is hit, the sphere also will disappear. These disturbances are not as potent as Storm's or Magneto's shenanigans at first, but once the 3 seconds are over, it will have the same distance covered as Magneto's. These can only be put out on the ground, and the move is rather slow, so very punishable.

L Version: This sphere is black and purple in color. It causes the opponent to slowly get attracted to it.

M Version: This sphere is white and blue in color. It will force the opponent away.

H Version: This disturbance is colored green and yellow. It lowers the actual gravity of the battlefield, allowing both fighters to jump higher and float down slower.

S Version: Colored red and orange, this version of the move will only last 2 seconds. It disables the opponent from jumping. However, this has even slower startup than the standard disturbance.

STELLAR PORTAL: QCB + Att.
The Herald of Galactus places a portal. It looks a little like Ammy's counter shields. With these, Stardust is not able to move himself, but rather his enemy, allowing to place everything according to his likes. The portals come out rather quickly. There can only be one entrance and one exit. If an entrance or exit already exists when conjuring a new one, the old one disappears. This move also can be used airborne.

L Version: This is the entrance. It is blue. Stardust places it right in front of him. If it touches an opponent and an exit is already available, they will be immediately teleported.

M Version: One of the two exits. It is orange. Stardust places it slightly diagonally above himself. If an enemy touches the entrance, they will drop out of this.

H Version: The second of the two exits. It is purple. Stardust places it either slightly below himself if airborne or on the floor if grounded. When an opponent gets into the entrance, it will have them pop out and upward from the portal.

HYPER MOVES

COMET SHOWER (LVL1): QCF + 2 Att.
Stardust calls upon a shower of comets raining down. It will start directly in front of the Herald and several comets crash into it, making this a wave-styled hyper, just with the wave coming from above instead of below. It has about the same startup and speed as Magneto's.

STELLAR PROTECTORS (LVL1) : QCB + 2 Att.
The Herald summons 3 little energy spheres to come out and rotate around him, dealing damage to whomever they touch. If Stardust puts in the command for the hyper a second time, they will shoot towards the opponent and even home them, dealing quite a good bit of damage.

DEVOURER OF WORLDS (LVL3) : DP + 2 Att
Remember that one move Galactus does where he goes to the background, grabs you and squeezes you? This is exactly what this super does. Stardust holds up his halberd. The hyper hits almost the entire screen and OTGs (much like Gravity Squeeze). If it connects, Galactus will appear, grab the opponent and crush them in his hand. It does a LOT of damage (again, comparable with Gravity Squeeze).

ASSISTS
Alpha: Cosmic Ray M
Beta: Gravitational Disturbance L
Gamma: Spear of Stardust

I'm sure it would have been too much work for Capcom these days, but they should have done the PW level 3 in the style of the DS games, animation and all. It's funny in concept but awkward in execution due to the visual style of the models.

Also: are they going to make Random the default selection for stages? And not some boring-ass stage like Danger Room?

I must see PW lvl3 on Dark Phoenix.
It's nice that she won't be able to do any attack at all lest she be caught like Gravity Squeeze, but the timer on Turnabout automatically gives her an advantage. But then again, she does have less health now, so I dunno.

The two characters I was looking forward to the most, and they look amazing. Phoenix's character model isn't exactly the way I'd want it, but his moveset looks incredible. I really hope this draws more attention to the Ace Attorney series. I need AAI2!

And Nova is just a sexy beast.

I have NO IDEA what the fuck is going on in those Phoenix Wright videos.

I love it! Cannot wait for November 15th!!!!!

What's Maya doing during that Level 1 Hyper? It looks like she was sitting on PW's lap or something and then comes out for a little damage combo ro something. Weird
