Got to play a little. Im liking nova, but it feels like all his shit is unsafe

Hmm, could you elaborate on that?

Capcom has stuff running on Sunday?

The only videogame that comes to mind is Skullgirls for that day.

Welp, now I'm significantly more hype for getting in on the ass end of CC now. :D

Capcom's schedule says they have both SF x T and UMVC3 tournaments that day so I would assume the games would still be available for free play also.

Wait, how did I miss this thread? Anyways, considering the number of games coming out at the same time this was off my radar. Phoenix Wright? BACK ON BABY.

Oh wow, and you're willing to test Morrigan stuff? Very kind of you.

Here's a short list of things we know (or think) are changed about her:
Morrigan

+ Does more damage on combos due to her base damage being increased

+ Flight cancel combos appear to be more reliable/useful

+ New meter sucking fireball QCF+S that steals about 1/3rd of the opponents meter. The fireball itself has very slow start up though so it's difficult to use it in combos but it has high durability.

+ Astral Vision is much faster on startup. She can use her new meter sucking move during Astral Vision and the clone DOES steal meter in this mode.

+ Finishing Shower has faster startup, faster missile travel speed, and you can control their trajectory much more than before. For example, in MvC3, if you hold up after using Finishing Shower, the trajectory will "slant" up a bit, and the whole thing is pretty minor. In UMvC3, a player can curve the missiles upward to the top half of the screen and then swerve them back down to the bottom against a crouching opponent. They may even be able to reach superjump heights now.

+ The minimum height/frames for her airdashes has been decreased which allows for better rushdown and mixup opportunities at close range. Boosts her overall mobility a bit as well since she has more opportunities to dash in general.

So, a lot of what we want to know is an elaboration on these points:
1) How low does Morrigan have to be off the ground to air dash? For example, when you do Soul Fist L and fly-cancel it while on the ground, can Morrigan air dash from that height? What if you do Soul Fist L, fly-cancel, Soul Fist H? Can she air dash at that height?

2) Can Morrigan combo into anything (even just Shadow Servant) off of her air throw/command throw/forward ground throw?

3) How soon after a ground dash can Morrigan attack?

4) How much more damage does she do? As an estimation, maybe just do a c.LMHS, sj.MMH, Shadow Blade M, Finishing Shower, against a character of 1 million health (Ryu, Dormammu, Doom) and see where the opponent's health bar is.

5) Not a concern to me personally, but a lot of folks want to know if you can combo into Soul Fist S. s.H is probably your best bet, since it's like +9 on hit.

6) How fast does Astral Vision recover now? For example, if you can find someone to test with you, I wonder if you can do the following: perform a hyper with a point character, try to punish that hyper with a beam (Shinkuu Hadoken, etc.), and DHC that point character into Astral Vision and crouch block; can you block the hyper in time? In other words, how good is Astral Vision for making bad hypers safe?

Any information on this stuff would be wonderful.

I might get there early tomorrow, so give me stuff to try.

Please see if you can get that rumoured new Thor projectile to work and try experimenting with Nova's Gravimetric pulse to see exactly how the red life affects it.

Seeing as how I'm not creative enough to come up with stuff like this, I'd be happy to test anything you guys have thought up.

At nycc. There isn't much I plan to do tomorrow and sunday, so I'm just going to try stuff at the mvc3 booth as often as I can.
Could you check for Nova's THC hyper when you set that Aegis reflector thing as his assist? It'd be awesome if you could also check Ghost Rider's THC hyper when his assist is set to Heartless Spire.

Thanks

Did they add the nerf to Mag's gravity moves in this build?
All we know is that it is no longer spammable. We may find out more today at the panel.

I wanted to ask for a check on Hsien-Ko at NYCC since we have NY gaffers attending the event, but who am I kidding.

Do yourself a favor and don't bother. You wait online for 10 minutes minimum, then once your opponent hears they might win a shirt.they rather just try to body you instead of test new characters or old combos. It gets..........very.....annoying.

Can you blame them?

Sounds like a shitty experience. If I were in that gaffer's shoes I'd just test stuff and let them take the match.

I'm more interested in character viability than a shirt haha.

You don't give a shit about Rocky either.

I don't, but I would go out of my way to test him for you if he were revealed and you asked.

It's feels nice to help out every once in a while so long as I don't have to go out of my way.

Yes, I can. It's UMVC3. there are new characters. everyone goes for what they know, and try to body you. like come on, you paid x amount of money to come here to try to play the same game you can at home?
use phoenix wright or firebrand for a change.

same for the sfxt crowd. its 80% ryu/ken matchups. and they will do the same shit over and over. no pandora mode,no cross arts, just lp,mp,hp,launcher, mp,hp,dragon punch.

i guess on the bright side, they are so predictable ,i not only get my win, i get my swaggy shirts.=)

Excited for whatever reveals on the panel. If it's only the costumes that's interesting, I'm fine with that.
Not really, but I already came to an agreement with myself that I no Rocky trailer can be expected.

Quick question.

Outside of well timed assists, what defense has vanilla phoneix wright got against teleports? I think that is going to be the biggest danger for him, people teleporting next to him when he is "looking for evidence" and eating half if not more of his life.

Picking up evidence doesn't take that long, he can start defending himself even if he is approached, however, teleporters will make it much harder for him to collect the evidence.

Thats what I was thinking. He seems to be covered by Maya for projectiles, beams and Rushdown, and the fact he can throw anything he picks up, but people with tracking teleports and people who can move behind you in a instant like wolverine are going to give him a lot of problems.

Once he is in courtroom and objection stances it's not so much a problem, but for those first few seconds he is extremely vulnerable.

Yea. I think that an assist like Hidden Missiles or possibly Rocky's shit will make it easier to cover himself up while he plays Ace Attorney.

I still can't get over the fact Wright players are gonna play their own little game during a MvC match lmao.

Nova moveset courtesy of a guy named Clawww on SRK.

crouching B: slide, special cancelable.

Crouching C: looks like Cammy's sweep (if I'm thinking of the right move), unsafe.

Toward + C: ground pound punch, can be charged by holding down the button, which makes it cause OTG and allows you to combo after. I guess it's like that Super Skrull move.

Air S: downward diving punch, does multiple hits.

qcf + A = mid range projectile, hits in front. Air OK. Doesn't seem remarkable, but might have some use I guess. I'm pretty sure this is a recycled animation from Storm and Iron Man.
qcf + B = same move, but angled upward. Air OK.
qcf + C = Nova creates a shield/barrier. Similar to Modoks in terms of speed and duration: not amazing. Red health is used to produce a larger version of the shield that lasts longer. This is one of his assists.

dp + A = Rushing slide attack, causes OTG. Pretty sure Nova can combo after it on his own. This is also one of his assists.
dp + B = Nova shoots up and does a dive kick (not an overhead) that you can combo out of on hit.
dp + C = Nova rushes forward and uppercuts the opponent, super jump cancelable. Reminds me of Captain Falcon's side + B in Smash.

Most of the above moves are fairly slow on start-up, but travel quickly and seem to have good priority.

qcb + A = rushing attack. I think this version is comboable, because it doesn't do much else.
qcb + B = rushing attack, causes wall bounce that is easily comboed off of. Air OK.
qcb + C = rushing attack, causes crumple. This special seemed pretty solid--it's probably unsafe as hell, but it moves really fast, does good damage, and the crumple is beast. I was doing it on reaction to assist calls and crumpling two characters at once. Pretty sure this works in the air.

Like the DP input specials, all of these moves have a bit of start up but travel relatively fast.

Air dash: horribly slow, and swerves around like Morrigan's.

Wish they had kept his OTG assist, Seth said they scrapped it in the latest build.

Do we have a Phoenix Wright moveset yet? I played him at Comicon and he was pretty damn fun, but I couldn't get Maya out and I didn't wanna risk randomly performing specials only to leave myself open, so evidence collecting was a bit of a pain. And then when I entered /turnabout stance I didn't know what the button combination for his Lv3 was and ended up using meter on the Maya special.

Also, why doesn't Capcom bring enough shirts for Comicon? They all ran out within the first hour or so. So salty.

Well, going to the panel. Let's hope that they reveal RR and Frankie, right guys?

Well, I main her regardless of her tier status, so I was using her anyway. But my main focus was on Wright, so I didn't really test her changes too much. I know people didn't know what the hell to do when fighting her though, so sometimes she'd take all 3 characters on her own simply because people didn't know how to deal with her. Sometimes being low tier is really beneficial when people have never played against her.

But it's really annoying when I can't test out characters because if I whiff a special while trying to learn their moveset they wanna dick around and punish me with a combo that takes me out even though I was obviously testing out moves in the corner and told them prior to the match. So in the end I had to just wing it through the match.

I only played three time due to friends and long line. I tried to figuring out but opponents wouldn't let me so I figured out with phoenix wright.

If you want to pick up evidence you have to press specific attack button to store specific box.

First box - l + s
Second box - m + s
Third box - h + s

Not sure if it was mentioned.

Also ghost rider's reverse srk + s movement seem not doing anything for me. I tried and nothing happens.

I wouldn't be at comic con today because my friends want to do something else so good luck gaffers.

Met ono, seth and niitsuma. they are awesome (sorry for english and spelling. I typed this on phone)

In line at nycc. Probably going to focus on mArvel today. Lucky enough to get all the shirts so I'm not as pressured to just pick my best. That said, wright is probably the worst character to learn at a con without prior knowledge.

Hope for some juicy bits at the panel later

Just keep repeating to yourself "Bear Traps & Pendulums, Bear Traps & Pendulums, Bear Traps & Pendulums"

THAT DOESN'T HELP. D:

On an unrelated sidenote, have some Tony Stark being swag and naked on a horse.

Don't get your hope high but I might go there tmw. If I got it. It's your since I don't want one. I am happy with pw. Hopefully they have some.

An assist like Hidden Missiles is a great idea, because it comes out behind the character and covers their air behind them. I used to love Hidden Missiles because it completely screws over Dante players.
