I wont be voting today and I'm pretty annoyed by it. The only mode of transportation I had was taken earlier today and wont be back until late into the night (if only the person let me give them a ride instead of taking the car). I'm glad I live in a state that voted democrat in the previous 5 elections, so I shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Wow, the media in Europe here REALLY makes it sound like this is the closest election EVER or something, i thought Obama had this in the bag but maybe not. They're even speculating about how the supreme court would have to decide in the end or whatever lol

Tomorrow we will know for sure either way...
it's bullshit for ratings, the election was decided a long time ago

You really cannot find any other ride? Call the local democratic party or ask a neighbor, don't give up so easily.

Yeah I don't really know about the American electorate. I'm just speculating based off the vague assumption that the American electorate vaguely resembles the Australian one. I think Gary Johnson or Ron Paul would be elected down here in a near landslide...As long as they didn't touch our UHC that is. :p

No way in hell. Mandatory voting + quality of life = status quo.

mate Tony Abbott is too right wing for Australia, that's why the opinion polls want Malcolm Turnbull to lead the libs (by a massive margin). Turnbull is a small l liberal much in the mould of Mal Fraser and much less socially conservative than Abbott.

"A Galaxy poll published this morning shows Mr Turnbull is preferred as opposition leader by 60 per cent of voters, compared with 29 per cent support for Mr Abbott." http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/na...s-coalition-head/story-fndo45r1-1226510202909

The US Democrats are too right wing for most australians, the US republican party would get less votes than pauline hanson. You think this would fly in Australia, you have no idea. get out a bit.

What's the general timeline for today? I'm in Malaysia and would like to follow the election live but what's the timeframe we're looking at here? Should I sleep and wake up around 8pm EST?

Haha. Man. You're completely wrong on what I said. I said that classical liberals have done really well. John Howard won 4 consecutive elections. The democrats who are classically liberal performed very well for a minor party before they exploded. Australia has a long and proud tradition of liberalism and its tenants. (Small government, civil liberties, democracy, etc).

Just got back from voting. Took about an hour which would have been quicker but I ended up in the wrong line =/. Thankfully I was pretty much in and out the other one. Turnout wasn't as big as i expected compared to how big it was last election, though i had to vote at a different place this year. Don't have to be at work until 1:00 so i'm going back to bed!

Went past two polling places in northeast Columbus on the way to work. Plenty of cars in the lots, though no lines out the doors quite yet. Likely a democratic area given demographics.

So if everything goes according to plan than the race should be pretty much over once the results from Wisconsin and Iowa are announced (at that point Nevada/Colorado probably don't matter anymore and the rest is in the bag for Obama/Romney).
Anybody know when the results for those states will be known approx. (if possibly in hours from now on so I don't how to mess around with time zones ^^)?

Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania are big

I love how America's pretty undecided at this point, with the possibility of it swaying either way (Though most likely Obama's), whilst the rest of the world, mostly the UK and Europe see it as a no brainer - Romney's a joke.

And yet, David Cameron is Prime Minister.

I've decided on NBC News tonight. I was gonna go with ABC News after the debate, but they're way too soft in general on the type of stories they run to take seriously.

Today I get to do my traditional walk into the local polling office, kick over a voting machine and walk out like Stone Cold Steve Austin with double birds in the air. Democracy!

Pulling for Obama but not voting for him and not scared of a Romney presidency.

Is there a website where I can watch some live coverage? I'm at work and trying to keep informed. Tried CNN but the streams are locked.
