I would bang a hot farmer!
That was great.

Good to see her use the same line from the latest released chapter.

Episode starts with the ancestral sword of House Stark being destroyed, episode ends with a member of House Stark getting their sword back. I love this show.

What an episode. Fuck, I do regret reading after last season a bit. It's not as fun watching the show when you know what will happen but damn, that was a good opener.

It's a change I am happy with.

Now I wonder if they might just have Arya escape the Hound and not "kill" him, since most don't think he's dead anyways.

Really good episode. Didn't leave me 'needing' another - if the rest of the season is like this then they've made a real step up.

Quick Thoughts

Daario 2.0 is a big improvement over Skraggletooth Fabio
Pedro Pascal as the Red Viper has alot of potential
The Thenn's look to add alot of intrigue to the dull Wildings depiction
Shae and Tyrion break up leading the way for the rest of the season
Now we know why GRRM released that TWOW Arya sample chapter

Production values and directing were superb, truly on another level now.

Clegane was one of my most favorite characters before this (particularly in the show), but the performance in this episode just solidified his position into a firm Top 3, if not my absolute favorite. His lines and the way Rory McCann delivers them are just absolute gold.

Really enjoyed the season opener. As always, Daario should be dressed like a peacock, and he isn't. I liked the introduction of Oberyn. Looking forward to the season.

I adore the Hound, so more of him, even if it's going off book, is going to be the best thing ever.

(I also don't think he's dead, he's the gravedigger at that island place Brienne goes to)

Liked that episode quite a bit. Jaime/Tyrion/The Hound's scenes were all quite good. Not a fan of the new Daario, but I guess he'll do. He's just so normal.
The dude playing the hound was very good this episode, I wasn't all that impressed with his interpretation of the character before this, but he definitely stepped up this time around.
Also, were they trying to suggest that Oberyn is homosexual? Was he in the books? I don't remember anything about that.

really, really liked the episode. One of the stronger premieres, I think.

On the other hand, I'm sad they robbed us (?) from Arya's "how many, how many, HOW MANY?!" rage from the books. It was such a shocking moment, I really wanted it to see it translated on screen. The silver lining, though... [TWOW SPOILERS]
neat reference to that TWOW chapter recently released. Chills.

Agreed, especially if they expand on his stuff with Arya. They've gotta be building to something.

He's bisexual in the books.

A pretty good start. The Oberyn casting is great. Kit's acting seems to be better. The dragons looked great.

The tavern scene was alright but a bit of a disappointment. Given how they've handled Arya's storyline though, it was probably about as good as it could be.

New Daario seems really forgettable.

Man, the scenery was gorgeous. Particularly for the Dany and Ygritte scenes. And that shot at the end, too.

Also, great renditions of Rains of Castamere and the main theme at the beginning and end.

Great first episode. I am genuinely intrigued about where they are diverting from the bopok with Arya and the Hound. Should be a fun trip.

I imagine the episode will end with Cersei demanding Tyrion's arrest.

Maybe, I think the direct aftermath will be in the following episode. I think the death would be a good shocking way to end like the red wedding.

That episode was awesome.

I loved Oberyn's intro and his scene with Tyrion outside the brothel. As usual, seems like a spot-on casting.

It was interesting to see Ser Dontos and how they're going to handle Joff's poisoning. I think the necklace will work wonderfully, with how Olenna was going on and on about the jewelry that Margaery should wear for the wedding.

I also really loved Tyrion's scene with Sansa; I got a little teary-eyed. In addition, the scene with Jaime and Cersei in her chamber was a great way to show the changing dynamic between the two.

Glad they're showing some conflict between Tyrion and Shae early on. If they can continue to build on this (which I'm sure they will), her death will definitely pack the punch it's meant to.

Dat Arya scene though. So awesome. I preferred the rage she showed in the book, but it was still so fucking badass. They definitely did it justice.

That was a very solid episode. I enjoyed it, and I can't say I'm too upset at changing the Hound/Arya's story up here if they're able to come up with some good original content for the two before Arya leaves. One of my complaints for Arya's story was not showing enough of the suffering of the village people like her arcs did in the books, so this looks like it gives them some time to remedy that.

That was great and all (I'm gonna be an asshole nitpicker here), but I really missed Arya's insane rage from the book.

Man what a closing shot though. Looks like Mordor.

Yeah, I always pictured something more like (TLoU spoilers)
when Ellie kills the shit out of David
but I'm glad they went through with Arya actually getting some kills and being badass instead of just not doing anything like when Yoren died.

Also, great renditions of Rains of Castamere and the main theme at the beginning and end.

Yeah, the uses of music was great. Like having Jaqen's theme start up when Arya was killing Polliver.

I'm still trying to figure out what that shot of the dragon's shadow over Kings Landing is actually going to be.

And the introduction of the Thenns was great too. Happy to see they're showing more of the diversity in the Wildlings. Just hope they have a mammoth or two at the Battle at the Wall.

Solid opening.

The tavern scene was a bit disappointing since Arya was in such a rage in the book. Still, more Arya and the Hound is a plus. New Daario seems like an improvement and I'm liking the casting of Oberyn.

Loved the episode!
Wondering what they're going to do with Shae. It seems too early for Cersei to know.
Also, uh... what are those symptoms Cersei was talking about? I don't remember anything like that in the books...

I love the Dunk reference!

Also, did the Hound drop a Bunk quote tonight?

Seemed like it. One of his other lines reminded me of a Wild Bill Hickok quote as well

"I understand that if any more words come pouring out your cunt mouth I'm gonna have to eat every chicken in this room" == "But you will run your cunt mouth at me. And I will take it to play poker."

God I feel so bad. Posted in the other thread by mistake and may have said something about Bran that hasn't happened yet. I can't even recall where Bran was at the end of last season.
