God I feel so bad. Posted in the other thread by mistake and may have said something about Bran that hasn't happened yet. I can't even recall where Bran was at the end of last season.

Haha, it was like watching a chimpanze swallowing a grenade...

Loved the episode!
Wondering what they're going to do with Shae. It seems too early for Cersei to know.
Also, uh... what are those symptoms Cersei was talking about? I don't remember anything like that in the books...

It seems like the perfect time for Cersei to know. If she knows about Shae before the death of Joffrey and pulls her into her spy network, she can therefore use it to establish a case quickly against Tyrion. She'll find out about Shae, Joff will die, and then Shae will turn on Tyrion.

I think they're referring to the pregnancy scare she had. I remember her using moon tea a lot, but I'm not sure if that was in AFfC or ASoS.

The Thronecast hosts are annoying. They have a nice world map though. And it's just about worth sitting through for the actors and the previews.

Some really, really good scenes in the opener though (and they managed the exposition without getting anyone nude!). Loads of snippy comments and great character moments too -- everyone seemed quite mean tonight and I loved it. Loved Oberyn/Ellaria, Jaime's scenes, Aemon and Jon at the wall, and of course Arya and the Hound.
I don't know if my workmates who watch it will have been mad enough to stay up and watch it this morning, but kind of hoping I'll at least be able to chat with them on Tuesday.

Were the Thenn's cannibals before?

No, but I think they combined some wildling traits together, from the ASOIAF wiki:

The Thenns are savage fighters, but because of their belief in the Magnar as their god they are absolutely obedient and more disciplined than other free folk. They are often better equipped than most free folk, with bronze helms, axes of bronze and a few of chipped stone, short stabbing spears with leaf-shaped heads, shirts sewn with bronze discs, and plain unadorned shields of black boiled leather with bronze rims and bosses.

Having read the books only after last season, I will say it is tough keeping the two separate. I know what it was like when I only watched the show and speculating, but when you know what will happen, it's hard to talk about anything.

The Thronecast hosts are annoying. The snippets of future scenes and the stuff with the actors is good, but the hosts, the hosts :(

The girl's ok but that guy is so annoying. Though he's a thousand times better than the guy he replaced which isn't saying much. Yea, that show is kinda crap and doesn't offer much for show viewers or book readers.

Bit odd they didn't take the time to reintroduce Tommen. He hasn't been seen since season 2, and he's been recast, seeing as he'll be king by the end of next episode it'd be good to show him.

Maybe they didn't want to make Joff's imminent demise too obvious by focusing on his heir.

They can do it in the wedding much more naturally.

Surprised the next episode is the wedding already. Are we sure they didn't mess up the caption on that preview? I thought it was gonna be a "this season on Game of Thrones" one.

It's happening, been known for awhile. Also written by George

I thoroughly enjoyed that episode. In the book we really got a sense of how devastated the lands were from the war in Arya's chapters and now I'm super happy to see it finally get to the show.

Great episode. Loved Oberyn's intro. The conversation with Tyrion outside was so good. I didn't know the Inn scene would be this episode, so that was a nice surprise (though the Previously on GoT segment tipped me off I guess). Jaime and Tywin scene was great too. Drogon is getting big!

All for the better. People were wising up to the "shit happens episode 9" thing they've had going on.

People are going to flip their shit next week. It will be the exact opposite of the Red Wedding, and I imagine we'll see tones of reaction videos recorded by book readers.
