I would bang a hot farmer!
That guy misspelling Tyrion as "Tirion" and Shae as "Chae" comes off as suspicious too. At this point into the 4th season, if you're misspelling Tyrion you must be doing it intentionally but there's really no way to really prove someone unless they've posted it here.

Other than that, really enjoyed the episode. I was waiting for his death for a long time.
If you want to be suspicious about someone then it should be this guy talking about Loras.

Isn't he still a member of the Kingsguard? He was presumably watching over things like Jaime was.

Damn straight.

When do you see the character names written out on the show?

I don't get why it's called the purple wedding.

Jesus fuck wrong thread. My bad.

I can't believe this is still happening after all our efforts. You'll end up getting spoiled, goddamn!

If some of them can't read a thread title, no wonder why they don't touch the books.

And this is why some people are suspicious, because they underestimate the intelligence of the show watchers.

The spoilers thread title have several words in common with the other thread. Some people make a mistake, no need to treat them like that.

I wish there was more ability to answer basic lore questions to people, I get that they want a "pure" experience but there's questions asked that are so fundamentally easy to answer and paint a picture of the world without spoiling any story plot points that it's hilarious.

Like I pause the show at least 2-3 times a week to answer a simple question from my wife like "What is the Iron Bank they're talking about?" "Oh it's just a super rich bank out of Essos that loans money to the various rulers of Westeros when they're in need". And we continue on.

Dude both theads happened to be at the top back to back so it was a slight mistake. Again, my bad. I'm actually in the process of reading the books just not caught up to this point yet. Speaking of which, holy shit it can be a dense read at times but I do enjoy how it fleshes out so much.

I didn't mean to sound that aggressive. I'm sorry. But yeah, be careful if you haven't read the whole thing.

Yeah, this happens here from time to time, they're seeing monsters in every shadow.
Yup. Let's try and stay focused on the show and discussing the episode here. If you see something problematic, send a PM to a moderator and we'll take a look. Posting about suspected book readers here doesn't help much and derails discussion here.

If I remember correctly, there was supposed to be a Targaryen queen who ruled in her own right. But her position was usurped by a younger brother.

They'll know Tommen is King soon enough.

RIP cute Tommen that plays with animals and is easily manipulated by Queen Margarine. I'd imagine that ol'Marge will sex him into submission instead now?

Is there anything on this planet that could make a person change from a normal-looking person to that bleeding nose, purple and blue, eyes bulging and discolored thing that killed Joffrey?

How the fuck did the AV Club newbies review give the episode rating a B+? What gives? I'm confused by that.

Most non book readers dont give a shit about bran and stannis, and probably reek. When they take up half the episode i'm not surprised.

Oberyn shitted on cersei and Tywin that scene was amazing. I liked the Jaimie and Tyrion scene as well.

And it was a huge hint when Olenna was saying the lines about a king dying at his wedding. It didn't seem so obvious to me in the books but it was easier to distinguish here I guess.

Cersie's reaction was kind of underwhelming. I was hoping for some gravitas similar to what Cat did for Robb. :/

Oh, The Princess and the Queen! Forgot about that. Either way, Rhaenyra is still considered just a claimant, isn't she?
But yeah, I worded that wrong. I just wanted to correct people who were saying that Marge should have had to consummate to be Queen.

I'm not certain. I've not read it, but I remember the story vaguely from one of Arys's chapters.

Also, with as awesome as the Viper has been, I think his death will be even more poignant than it was when I first read SOS. And I was pretty deflated afterwards.

I really liked his exchange with Cersei and Tywin. Assuming George wrote that part, I'll bet he had fun revisiting the character. As awesome as he was in the book, he didn't really have many moments like that, so it was fun to see. Still, I'm really looking forward to him fighting the Mountain, and I hope they make his death as gruesome as possible.

Wellp... I dug it. Although I always pictured the purple wedding reception as indoors. Once I eventually re-read the series, it's going to be SO different than the first time (a couple years before the show started).

Also, was Lil' Renly's horse meant to be Loras?? Haha. Stannis' was definitely Mel.

Also, yes, there's some pretty questionable detective work going on in the other thread regarding the "whodunit" aspect, but holy shit... nothing can beat post 2034. That non book reader knows that Margery is going to marry Tommen! Haha.

EDIT: sorry, Cornballer, I just saw your last post. I'll refrain from further bitching on that front.

On topic, when Bran touched the tree and saw Ned sharpening his sword under the heart tree, it reminded me all over again at how I wish the show would have done what the book did: include a little "hook" where Ned thought he heard Bran's voice rustling in the tree. Which we'd eventually come to discover WAS in fact his voice from the future, transcending time and distance.

Redarse
- Sepinwall on tonight's episode
the Lannisters have just suffered an enormous defeat on the biggest stage possible. And yet at the same time, their grip on the Iron Throne hasn't changed much, if at all. Tywin has been the real power all along, and that won't change no matter which of his children or grandchildren has the most impressive royal title. If anything, Joffrey's predilection for inflicting pain — which, among other things, inspired the whole northern rebellion by Robb and his bannermen — was more of a detriment to the family than his position on the Throne was an asset. This is a terrible thing for Cersei and Jaime, who loved the little monster as only parents could, and it's bad for Tyrion, who makes an easy patsy, but for the larger power structure of the series, in some ways this strengthens House Lannister's position.
Can't wait to read his reaction of what's to come. I really hope nobody hits him with the spoilers again

Would be better if you PMd Cornballer that. He said he wants no more discussion of that over here.

Another thing they nailed was Tywins indifference, I think that will give the show watchers the same debates we've had as to whether or not Tywin was involved.

I forgot that GRRM was writing this episode. I like it when he writes because I feel like we're seeing it as he envisioned it in the book and it gives more legitimacy to scenes that weren't in the book.

Why did they leave out the line of Joffrey telling Tyrion he needs to get him a better present? I remember that scene creating an incredible amount of tension between Tyrion and Joffrey. It put me on edge the whole time for every Tyrion/Sansa chapter up until Joffrey died because the clash between the two seemed inevitable.

Why didn't they mention how rare the book was? That there was only 4 existing copies. Which led to Joffrey's response, "Now that's three." That would have been perfect for TV.

It was a great episode but considering as someone just said, much of the episode was Reek, Stannis, and Bran, three stories that a lot of show only readers don't seem that into, I don't know why they took out lines that could have heightened the tension.

Reek should be even more pitiful. At that point in the books, he was barely recognizable as Theon and didn't even associate himself with being Theon. Asking him what he did to Bran would have just made him confused.

I also pictured the reception as being inside for some reason. I guess it doesn't really matter.

I didn't realize who the horses were supposed to be because of how quick it happened. That's pretty awesome if they had Renly riding Loras in front of the entire Tyrell family though.

I was not expecting this to be episode 2. I wonder how far they will go now. I always assumed they would end it with Tywin's demise and Tyrion's escape but now...shit.

Yeah. That was the unexpected highlight of the episode.

Bronn betraying Tyrion is going to be more a shocker to people than Shae. I love how the show is making people believe Shae is out of the picture.

Well I have to guess that Tyrions Trial is going to be in the next few episodes. So I would imagine we'll see here there.

That being said, I don't think Shae is essential to the trial, or proof against Tyrion, and I would not be mad at all if Shae wasn't revealed again until Tyrion's escape in the Tower of the Hand.

*THERE BE BOOK SPOILERS AND DRAGONS HERE!!!* and other miscellaneous shit

The scene with Shae on Tywin's bed will be a shock to most people.

Yeah, you've got the first shocker of him killing Shae, then again when he kills Tywin right after.

The scene between Oberyn and Tywin was grand.

I think there was probably too much hinting towards Olenna being the culprit. I had no idea in the book. But that's probably just hindsight.

The Rains of Castamere rendition at the end may be my favorite yet.
