US Police smash camera for recorded killing

I treat cops the same way I treat anyone I think is prone to irrational violence. I avoid them and limit my interactions when forced to talk to them. I do not feel safer when a cop car is tailing me for 3 miles. I do not feel safer when I see one sitting at the front door of my over night walmart. I'm mostly white and I don't feel safe around these people.

There was a story I saw about a kid with a dash cam who was pulled over by a cop. The cop got all up in his face, the kid was being an ass, and threatened to ruin his life. He only calmed down when he spotted the camera equipment. During the investigation the cop's dash cam went 'missing'.

The problem is that it's a monopoly. There is only one law enforcement group to turn to when you need help. No competition to do a better job. No customer service. The things that we all agree on that make companies work for their customers, are the same things missing from this branch of the public sector.

Fuckin cops, man.

If they released a statement sayign that his phone was taken into custody as evidence, then he should be able to get it back after the case is closed. I hope he pursues it, just to piss off the police since they know they destroyed it anyways. Then file tampering charges for tampering with evidence key to a capital crime.

I can't believe the cops unloaded on that car like that in the first place, either. Car was CLEARLY stopped and the driver was no longer a threat before they blew him up in a hail of gunfire that-- by the way-- also got 4 innocent people shot. If I was those people I'd be at a lawyers office TODAY with this video and ready to start suing the shit out of Miami PD.

If they aren't doing this they are fucking retarded. This is the kind of shit ambulance chasers live for. I'd be surprised if their aren't already commercials running asking for people to call "the hammer" of miami or the "one call that's all" attorney of the area if " YOU HAVE BEEN VITIMIZED".

That sounded like 20+ gun shots! o_O

That was like 20 shots from five different cops all at the same time, actually. I remember reading there were 100+ shots fired.

It makes me wish technology like this had existed for a damn long time now. Perhaps if it had we'd have seen the end of shit like this. I dunno if anyone else on GAF has had family members attacked by police without provocation, but I have and hearing about it is scary.

Didn't we have this thread before, though? I forget.

Who's just casually hanging around an area where guns are being shot like crazy and not getting the fuck down or behind cover? Stupid idiots and their need to hang out and record everything they see. Don't they know what happened to Hud?

Ok, this lady is fucking stupid. I don't like cops as much as anyone else, and I especially don't like ones that abuse power or let the position go to their head. But when a cop tells you to do something, it's not your place to argue with them then and there - do what they say, or deal with the consequences. It's not like he didn't give her plenty of opportunities to comply and not get in trouble, she just thought she'd see how far she could push and it bit her in the ass.

The FUCK kind of shit is this? So the cop her dad now right? Fuck our rights, do whatever the cop says. Fuck corrupt/abusive police. I can't stand police apologists.

I can't understand the psychology behind this kind of behavior. If someone else is already taking the shot, why fire yourself?

It's madnes!

You could be dealing with Neo. Better not to take any chances.

Actually, that's just their training. That's the appropriate response to a situation where deadly force is necessary. The problem is that there were civilian bystanders and well... this wasn't a case where deadly force was necessary.

I argued with a cop once and it worked out..

I was in a legit bad mood on June 21st, 2006. Guy pulled me over, never specifies a reason why. So he ask me if I have and drugs or alcohol or illegal weapons in my car. I tell him no, but he still asks if he could search my car. As he is walking towards my car, I tell him that I do not give him permission to search my car. He and his partner stop and look at me like "What the fuck you just said to me?"

A crowd of people are coming out of there houses, because this happened in a residential area. The cop then says he smells marijuana coming from my car. He searches through my car and tells me that he found a marijuana SEED on the floor of my car. "That's possession of marijuana", He says with a grin.

He arrested me. I ask what his name is, so I can file a complaint against him. I am then charged with public intimidation (A felony than can carry 8 years in jail) because he feels that I threatened his job and well being. His partner is young and black. After a quick trip back to the precinct, its his job to bring me to the parish prison. He looks at me and says that he can testify on my behalf in court saying I was cooperative or whatever. I look him square in the eyes and say "Fuck you for allowing this to happen and not even saying a word to stop it." Never said another word.

Bailed out a few days later because my mom was out of town. Lucky that a well known Baton Rouge lawyer is a family friend. All charges dropped and arrest record cleared. I guess my point is that you don't have to take the bullshit. Know your fucking rights.

Wait, did you actually have a marijuana seed, or was that planted by the cop?

I'm going to go with option (c) and guess neither. The cop saw something that "looked" like a marijuana seed but actually wasn't.

On the topic of the video of the girl getting arrested in her front yard: CNN just had her on live. She stated everything that she said and her entire exchange with the police was recorded, so what we see and hear is everything. If true, then that piece of shit cop was lying on camera to put her in a negative light and justify his actions as something other than a power trip, lol. The mayor of Monroe released a statement saying some sort of corrective action was in order, so at least the man at the top recognizes what a dirt bag the cop was. Also that buster, Don Lemon (wow, he even has a buster name), was trying to chide her saying some I hope you learned your lesson type shit.

Welcome to Obama's america.
Change we can believe in, right?
The new facism wears bike helmets.

Yeah, because there were never any news stories about police corruption until after Obama was elected.

No doubt the Miami PD will be (rightfully) getting sued in the near future. That press release is proof positive of the amount of boldfaced corruption in police departments around the US.

They aren't automatons. With 100+ bullets fired in a crowded street those four civilian injuries could just have easily been deaths. It's about time that poorly trained policemen are publicly held responsible for their stupidity.

So where's the proof that the phone was smashed?

Looking from the other perspective, the cops had a car try and run them down, and another person gets in there car right there. I would stop them too.

That makes no sense. So anyone that got into a car in the area should be arrested because they might try to run over a cop??
