Actually, Romney DID have the same foreign policy views as Obama before the debate. Sometime with in the last two-three weeks he said he'd continue Obama's foreign policy if elected, just he'd do them better. Plus maybe start a war with Iran, Russia, China, or all of them. I remember him saying it and wondering how can you have a foreign policy debate when the candidate agrees with the incumbent.

Looks like it was on October 8th when he gave a foreign policy speech. He'd continue what Obama is doing, but with more dick waving.

I'd have thought it'd have been that way ever since the republican party hopped on the crazy train in the mid ninties and refused to get off.

Still remember the daily mirrors cover when bush got re-elected.

Oh i agree, it is no suprise to me at all that the republican party are so universaly disliked outside of the states. It shows me that american politics is in a really unusual place compared to a lot of the world. As someone who lives in England, i cant even imagine someone like romney even being considered to be a leader of a major party, let alone actually having a chance at winning an election.

Didnt really know where else to put this but i thought it was interesting, im unable to make new threads yet so i will just put it in here.

Wow. It's not surprising that the rest of the world favors Obama, but it is surprising how MUCH they favor him. Wonder how Romney feels about his foreign policy goals knowing that if he won everyone would be wishing they were talking to Obama instead of him. Oh wait, he's got a plan for that....he'll just talk to them. Or just use our military might and overpower them. Right, that's a great plan buddy.

Did anyone find it really condescending the way he talked about the Middle East last night? Like they were all just WISHING they had democracy. Like they all were just hoping the US would sweep into their country and instantly make their lives better by instituting a US style government? How can he paint such a broad stroke like that?

Got this message from a repub colleague of mine on FB to me saying that its ridiculous that GOP are now taking credit for the bailout.

"I dont interpret anything he says as "was my idea". what i hear is that "my ideas was..." and then differentiates that from what happened, which is basically, let bankruptcy law prevail, not manipulate it it unlawfully, and in breaking the contracts. In the end, we get the same results - a restructuring and forgiveness of a negotiated amount of debt, preserving jobs and operations, but in romney's method, you get lein holders rights upheld, and not favors to unions in exchange for campaign funding."

I'm no economist, but how does a traditional bankruptcy process ensure a preservation of jobs and operations? I see his point on union favors to some extent - but couldn't he say the same for coal miners as a voting collective for Romney?

Translation: Don't screw this up Americans

Haven't really been following these elections that closely as I had thought that Obama would be a shoo in pick- but having watched the reactions after each of the 3 debates, as well as reading the last few pages of this thread- I'm abit nervous for you guys now.

You really don't want Romney representing your country on an International stage

It's hilarious that a country wants a guy who blows up 20 children of theirs a month with drone attacks doesn't want him being re-elected?

It Doesn't.

I'm sick of this election cycle and decided to ignore the debate last night, but did Romney really say he wants to cut Obamacare to pay for increased military spending? WTF if that is true.

To me that was the most definitive moment of the night - because he said pretty much exactly that.

I will admit, Romney doesn't scare the shit out of me, at least compared to the other GOP candidates we had. But that line last night was pretty fucking offensive.

It looks to me as though Anne Romney always looks like she hates being wherever she is. Sorry if derail, but that image up there sort of slapped me across the face.

It's not just offensive it's a clear indication that he is a fool not fit for the office of the presidency. Most knowledgeble people know that already, but unfortunately the rubes outnumber them.

Really Pakistanis??? I am Pakistani and so are my parents. We are all supporting Obama.

According to the BBC article the Pakistanis living in Pakistan favor Romney. Obviously not every single Pakistani.

Hope they heard Romney loud and clear when he said he too would continue with drone attacks. He basically mirrored Obama's policy word for word in regards to Pakistan so why he would be favored over Obama is beyond me. Maybe they just think a new President means different for them.

Here's the reason why: http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/25/world/asia/pakistan-us-drone-strikes/index.html

If US was intelligent, they would do the following as they leave Afghanistan.

When they continue to use drones, give Pakistan the ability see what is happening. As a lot of civilians have died due to drone attacks.

1) Pakistani people have suffered a lot during the last 10 years of this war.

2) Help Pakistani people out instead of giving it support to corrupt PPP government. Ie. have a true democracy there.

3) Help Pakistan attack TTP and folks that come from Afghanistan to attack people in Pakistan.

4) Allow Pakistan to have role in Afghanistan but don't allow Saudi Arabia. Hence the philosophy of Taliban won't be able to flourish because it stemmed from Saudi Arabia.

Other than taking away money from health care and putting it into killing people, what are other implications of this?

Hey I know since we spend as much money as the next 26 countries combined on our military and we waste 8 cents of every dollar on our broken healthcare systems why don’t we spend even more money on the military and stop the efforts to fix our healthcare. Yeah, that’s a great idea my fellow republican. Fancier guns and more dead brown people will make all our problems go away. *high five*

Thinks mods influence posters politics. Promoted to QAnon Editor.
By the 3rd debate I would assume the undecideds are down to a thin sliver of voters. Can't really see how a "win" or a "loss" means anything at this point.

1. Rally the base.
2. Donations.
3. Momentum.
4. Positive nationwide news, feeds back to 1-3.

Oh, I'm sure there's some kind of impact, sure - kind of like a closeout pitch - but overall in the "minds" of the public, I think the impact is less than the previous debates.

Well, back in 2007 when Obama said he'd go into Pakistan to get Bin Laden whether they were willing/helping or not, Romney said that was foolish and that he would respect Pakistan's sovereignty and not do that. So maybe it's that.

How about
1. Unfriend Pakistan on Facebook, send 'goodbye too bad so sad' text and then delete from Android phone. Send NO aid to NObody in Pakistan, corrupt or uncorrupt.

2. Forget Pakistan ever existed. Bad Romance. Learning experience.

3. Send India naughty pics of you wearing no shirt.

The new fackcheck.org article is out. http://factcheck.org/2012/10/false-claims-in-final-debate/

Obama claimed that during the 2008 campaign Romney said “we should ask Pakistan for permission” before going into that country to kill or capture terrorists. That’s not true. Romney said taking unilateral action in Pakistan should be an option, but criticized Obama for publicly talking about it, saying, “we keep our options quiet.”

Obama wrongly accused Romney of not telling the truth when Romney said “you and I agreed” some U.S. troops should be left in Iraq. In fact, the president tried and failed to negotiate an agreement to keep 3,000 to 4,000 support troops there; Romney said he would have left 10,000 to 30,000.

Obama claimed the record would back him up when he accused Romney of opposing any federal “help” or “assistance” for troubled automakers. In fact, the record shows Romney supported federal loan guarantees.

How accurate is any of this stuff?
