US PSN: Golden Week Sale Celebrates Japanese Games

Best way to play MGS HD collection...PS3 or Vita? Any differences?

If you're interested in MGS2, the PS3 version is the only way to go, IMO, just because the Vita version struggles with maintaining 60 fps during the main game, and is often 30 fps.

MGS3 is a bit different, though. It's 60 fps on the PS3, but in any event, the Vita version still runs quite a bit better than the PS2 original, and I think it has an immensely valuable addition with the stalking function being a button hold toggle versus having to use the d-pad in the console versions.

The controls are quite a bit different between both versions, too, since the Vita can't replicate the analog functions of the buttons, so they had to use the d-pad to help maintain some of the functionality. It's not horribly cumbersome, but it's not quite as direct as keeping your finger on just one button to do everything that you need to.

And as it has been mentioned, the PS3 version also includes Peace Walker HD, for even more value. That being said, another appealing aspect is that both versions do support cross-save for MGS2 and MGS3, so you can resume your save and earn trophies on the go, and it's separate lists, too, so you can double your trophy count, especially for MGS3, which you can platinum on just one run.

Tales and Muramasa good buys? Of course, I have a physical copy of P4G I haven't gotten around to yet either.

Watched some Atelier videos and the game seems agonizingly slow, so probably not going to that route (though I know nothing about it otherwise),

That's an amazing price for Metal Gear HD if you've got the gigs to spare on Vita, and it's an even better price for the PS3 version.

that Dragonball BoZ pricedrop :O
lol.. I should not have bought the game during that weird LET'S PLAY promo

getting the
- Totori
- Meruru
- Ys
- Muramasa
for Vita

not sure on the rest yet

Great sale, I can add Tales to my collection now that I just got the gamecube ver. as well. And it's time to further increase my square ps1 collection with chrono cross.

Confession: I have not played Chrono Trigger + Cross despite having all platforms it was released on. Is it time? Do I have to?

DBz is tempting. Chrono Trigger is temping too but I feel like the extra money is better spent on the better port on DS am I right? I mean I can get it for like $20 somewhere like gamestop probably.

MGS HD Collection on Vita shall be mine!
I also wanted to import Tales of Symphonia but for $10, I can't pass that. Less than $20 too, my budget atm.

Yeah, I'll bite Ys for that price. I was interested before but $40 was a little too much for me to jump in blind. I might even grab Battle of Z for $10. Hell, I may even double dip on Muramasa just to have a digital version. Pretty awesome sale.

i never played chrono trigger. and i dont have any access to the ds version, should i get the ps1 version? im tempted to play this great rpg.

If you have a choice? Just get Chrono DS. Otherwise Chrono PSN is okay.

ZOE's port is still shit awful, right?

ZOE2 was patched (at least the PS3 version was) and runs much better now. I don't know whether ZOE1 was patched, but it never performed as badly as 2 in the first place.

When does the promo go live? Not seeing any promo on my Vita or the PSN store on my browser...

Always assume Tuesday after store maintenance (generally the store is updated by 5 PM EST). Never buy anything from the store unless it says the sale price when you are checking out.

PSA: PSX version of Chrono Trigger is pretty much the worst version of that game. I can only recommend it if it's the only way you can play the game. I'd even recommend the iOS version over the PSX version. It the only version to feature load times between wandering and battles and it really breaks the flow of the game.

Yes, the load times aren't egregious like they were on CD, it's loading from your HDD or memory card

Do you people recommend ZOE HD? I know that the 2d Runner was fixed, but for that price both games are worthy?

I'm sorry but a majority of these sales suck. $20 is pushing the highest of impulse buy for me and as of now, Tales is the only game I can spend $10 on and not feel cheated.

I think those have been the cheapest prices for DMC Collection and Soul Calibur V.

Hmm definite buys
Atelier Totori+ - so I can finally finish it and play Meruru+
Chrono Cross - I'll have to finish Trigger first tho. Gonna have to pony up for the DS version
Persona 4 Golden - double dipping to always have on the stick
