US PSN: Golden Week Sale Celebrates Japanese Games

Ok. You guys convinced me the DS version of Chrono Trigger is the way to go. I have a 3ds so I'm cool with that. I'll always try to get the best version of a game if possible. The extra money is probably worth it. Damn so I guess I'll get DBZ on vita? Or something. Damn I loves me some digital sales.

UK here, but if I buy a PSN voucher over at the American branch of Amazon, I can use that code in the US store, right? 'Cos I am totally going to get myself Chrono Cross at that price.

This is what I always do although I'm not from UK. Just make sure to create a US PSN account.

do you have a Vita? :/ you may want to play CT with the better dpad/buttons and screens

but ugh the loading time

I'm sorry but a majority of these sales suck. $20 is pushing the highest of impulse buy for me and as of now, Tales is the only game I can spend $10 on and not feel cheated.

It's fine if that's how you feel, but I don't see how anyone can look at Soul Calibur, Armored Core, and Hot Shots for $5 a pop and feel "cheated". They're all (as far as I know) decent to great entries in highly regarded series and they're cheap as hell.

Do you people recommend ZOE HD? I know that the 2d Runner was fixed, but for that price both games are worthy?

I recommend it at that price, and honestly ZOE1 isn't that good of a game to begin with. Hexadrive did a good job fixing up ZOE2 as it runs great now, but ZOE1 still has it's issues like with the framerate and such.

MGS HD and Muramasa tempt me, but I don't have PS Plus so that kind of dampers it a bit (Just got my Vita and the current free games don't really grab me - relax, I got a physical copy of GR).

What's shitty here is ToS.

Great deal but they're pulling all kinds of funky shit. Are they telling us to not day 1 Tales games?

I like both of the Dpads and buttons on both handhelds. Yes I have a vita lol. I don't have a ps3 anymore. But I would rather have the best version of the game if even at that price fans of it would still say to stay away from the ps1 version.

Wow I think I'll be getting:

Metal Gear Collection ps3
Rain
Soul Caliber V
ZOE HD Collection
HSG World Invitational

total of: $36.23

Geez Sony, you really know how to get to my wallet...

Can someone tell me what the atelier games are? I looked up a description on wikipedia and still kinda confused. Just alchemy and battling?

I have a feeling Muramasa is still coming to US PS+ maybe next month. I don't think I'm gonna jump because I have so so so much to play. If Hot Shots were for Vita I'd jump on that ship hardcore though.

I'd wait for Muramasa and MGR. Gut tells me they'll be up on Plus soon.

I played through the PS1 version of Chrono Trigger back in the day (as part of FF Chronicles), and honestly, I don't remember the loading being too bad. Yeah, it's noticeable, but it's nothing you can't look past.

Doesn't the DS version have that new script? I could never get past how odd and unnatural it sounded if you ever played the SNES version...

I might be up for Muramasa, possibly Tales.

But I don't know. I already have the Wii version of Muramasa. Don't know if I need to get that a second time.

Holy shit these are some awesome deals.

Lots of great stuff for the Vita, which has quickly become my most played console.

Thanks OP.

Is the pS3 version of Hot shots any good? Look decent? I have the vita version but it would be nice when I wanna play a few rounds on the big tv.

I'm seriously surprised ToS is already on sale and for $10 at that. Still not sure if I would play it at that price.

Either way, in for both Atelier games, Chrono Cross, and MGS Vita. Muramasa is tempting but I already beat it and don't think I would really want to play it again. Maybe on PS+.

And the DS version of CHRONO Trigger is definitely worth getting. I can't speak for the PS1 version (though it seems everyone agrees it is chappy) but I can vouch for the DS version. Still, it IS only $3.75....

Oh, and of course: GET PERSONA 4 VitaGAF if you haven't already!

If you're interested in MGS2, the PS3 version is the only way to go, IMO, just because the Vita version struggles with maintaining 60 fps during the main game, and is often 30 fps.

MGS3 is a bit different, though. It's 60 fps on the PS3, but in any event, the Vita version still runs quite a bit better than the PS2 original, and I think it has an immensely valuable addition with the stalking function being a button hold toggle versus having to use the d-pad in the console versions.

The controls are quite a bit different between both versions, too, since the Vita can't replicate the analog functions of the buttons, so they had to use the d-pad to help maintain some of the functionality. It's not horribly cumbersome, but it's not quite as direct as keeping your finger on just one button to do everything that you need to.

And as it has been mentioned, the PS3 version also includes Peace Walker HD, for even more value. That being said, another appealing aspect is that both versions do support cross-save for MGS2 and MGS3, so you can resume your save and earn trophies on the go, and it's separate lists, too, so you can double your trophy count, especially for MGS3, which you can platinum on just one run.

I was going to ask about this, awesome.

Is Hot Shot Golf good? I think I want a golf game.

Will get Soul Calibur V for sure.

Hot Shots Golf is my favorite golf game series. I think most people love it, but I doubt it has a thriving online community anymore. This particular game can be frustrating at times but it is still very addictive.
