#MakeTimKaineHotAgain

Kaine doesn't have to do much here to look good and come off as an actual human being with a soul, but I hope he brings up Pence's homophobic tendencies and the shit about him not pardoning the innocent man.

The only thing protecting Pence from that is that no one really gives a shit about him. Hopefully being in the spotlight makes people aware of how awful of a person he is.

I hope that mandated funerals for fetuses comes up as well.

Pence has been flying under the radar too long.

It feels like Kaine and Pence haven't gotten a lot of coverage. And by that I mean it feels like they've barely gotten any coverage since they were announced as the VP candidates.

They're pretty white bread compared to Hillary and Trump.

i think strategically Kaine should continue Hillary and Obama's appeal to Republicans by saying something to the effect of "I have my disagreements with Mike Pence, but on the whole he's a committed public servant and would make a good Republican nominee. The problem is that this is Donald Trump's ticket, and we all know that if they are elected, Trump will not heed the advice of Pence and other Republicans, he'll do whatever he wants whenever he wants"

Pence is a smokescreen and to the extent that smokescreen helps Republicans get behind Trump, that's a line of attack.

Meanwhile interest groups can attack Pence'a extreme conservatism and dismal record as governor.

I mean, I get your point, but also no.

Pence is going to be defending Donald Trump all night. He's going to have to defend the taxes, the attack on Miss Universe, the misogyny, etc. We need to keep him on that drum all night long.

BUT....Pence is also really, really horrible. This is the guy who was forcing women to pay for funerals for babies who died before birth. The reason we're doing so well in NC is because of religious freedom bills. Pence signed one. There is a subset of voters who aren't a fan of Trump, but if we allow Pence to appear decent enough, they may feel safe enough with him. We need to show he's just as bad as Donald Trump. The Veep debate is the time we can tie Trump around the neck of the GOP. I think we should do that. But with a smile. Cause Dad is nice.

This is exactly how I see it going. Trump himself will still be the target.

You know what I wonder? How Trump is going to react.

I remember his first interview with Pence as his VP, he was so patronizing to Pence. When the interviewer asked him a question, trump was like "Go ahead, speak", as if to a child.

Pence is going to get shredded, there's no doubt about that. But I'm hoping Trump just blows up on him in some way for it. That'll be pretty funny.

Can this thread just be about this instead? Can this whole election?

But Destiny sucks almost as much as this election.

Is this debate going to drop 385+ Artifacts?

Didnt think so. Iron Banner for President!

On a serious note, Papa Joe's debate was probably the best debate performance ive ever seen. I was stressed as fuck after Obama blew it in the first debate and Biden just came out swinging. eased all my fears and showed Obama how to get shit done.

You think the Biden vs. Ryan fight was great, check out his previous battle with Sarah Palin!

I know these guys are a million miles apart on everything, but they both just feel like the same person to me. Like I had to remember the Trump-fucking-Pence logo fiasco this morning to figure out which was which.

I hope people who pointed out a lack of substantive discussion from the previous debate tune in for this one tonight.

And I especially hope the "both parties are the same" casual/non voters tune in and have the ignorance wiped from their eyes.

Masterful OP.

Looking forward to seeing how my future VP Kaine performs in this kind of stressful position.

One guy is that weird, awkward super suburban Christian family dad

The other guy is that slightly more loose dad because one of his daughters got a boyfriend who wears a black leather jacket.

How the hell did any of these two get elected with their personalities ? Whatevs. Tim Kaine IS a nice guy and you can see that in the fact that although he's a devout Catholic, he's willing to govern without letting that get in the way of more social issues that involve women and minorities.

It's too late for that.

I have never watch a Vice President debate before. Aren't these two both moderates?

HELL no.

Kaine is somewhat liberal despite being a devout Catholic. He supports a woman's right to choose.

Pence is a homophobic nightmare who would force women who get abortions to hold a funeral for the unborn baby and wants the government to use taxpayer dollars to support organizations that perform anti-LGBT conversion therapies.

From Pence's 2000 run platform:

• Congress should oppose any effort to put gay and lesbian relationships on an equal legal status with heterosexual marriage.

• Congress should oppose any effort to recognize homosexual’s as a "discreet and insular minority" entitled to the protection of anti-discrimination laws similar to those extended to women and ethnic minorities.

• Congress should support the reauthorization of the Ryan White Care Act only after completion of an audit to ensure that federal dollars were no longer being given to organizations that celebrate and encourage the types of behaviors that facilitate the spreading of the HIV virus. Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior.

I hope Kaine rips Pence on all those anti LBGT stuff he did.

Your wish may well be granted..
Tim Kaine Invites Lesbian Couple to Attend VP Debate

The couple are Carol Schall and Mary Townley, who were plaintiffs in a lawsuit that led to Virginia's ban on same-sex marriage being overturned. Their daughter, Emily Schall Townley, is also a guest.

After decades of the GOP beating us over the head with these issues, these wedge issues now cut in favor of the Democrats. I'd love to see this wielded against Pence.

Great OP theme.

Who else is gonna try and watch this all the way through? I doubt it'll be anywhere near as entertaining as the Biden/Ryan debate 4 years ago, but I'm hoping Kaine destroys Pence nonetheless.

I agree completely. Pence doesn't deserve any kind of help from anyone, least of all Tim Kaine. Pence isn't a committed public servant, nor would he be a good Republican nominee; he cost his own state over $60 million dollars to further his homophobic crusade, and if money were no issue he would have done much, much worse to Indiana's economy. He chose to be a part of the Trump campaign, and he needs to take personal responsibility for that. Kaine needs to make it clear that Pence is every bit as terrible as Trump (if not worse for Pence's blatant homophobia). For Pence to be on the Trump ticket is morally reprehensible, and Kaine should remind voters of that.

I think kaines got this, no doubt he's been In the debate hyperbolic time chamber training with diamond joe. Pence is gonna get owned.
