When has that ever happened?
Gamers certainly don't care about that stuff at large. Parts of gaming media does, but they are dying like flies due to their irrelevance. Some devs do, but are they actually the talented ones or just the activists?
I wonder if you people realize the threads claiming Ubisoft failed to consider the feelings of Japanese people when they made Yasuke a major protagonist in AC Shadows and when they made shrines destructible in the game are basically D&I related?

Gamers also seem to care about staff attrition rates in game companies. I can't count how many times I've heard "XYZ is only a shadow of their former selves, most of the people who made *insert beloved franchise* have left".
I think many DEI initiatives are flawed, and there's certainly a need for sensible rollback in certain areas. But the blanket demonization of the term is weird as hell, and it's probably because most people tend to focus on hiring alone.
