Verge: MS launching Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment on other platforms, Sea of Thieves later in 2024

I think MS has to make Indiana Jones, and other blockbuster budget games multiplatform. I can understand why they would keep it exclusive for a 6-12 months (to provide value to xbox owners), but I imagine it would sell well on PS5/Switch 2 (if it doesn't suck).

MS should figure out a way to provide a box that provides unique OS features like the Steam Deck. Features like "in OS" frame limiter or custom resolution scaler. Allow custom shaders in the spirit of Reshade, with the ability to download user created profiles.

The idea that PS and MS put out a box that basically does the same things, with a similar performance envelope is BORING. MS has got to figure out a way to shake things up.
I’d rather they go full way and add an Xbox os and Windows pc os. And be able to run steam off it. Sure people could buy there games on steam instead of Xbox store but I don’t think me would care either way.

The trade off been that you would be able to play PlayStation games (obviously at Sony’s whim on the porting policy)

If Xbox delay there 1st party games for 12 months before porting and generally Sony does the same it cancels each other out and your console purchase would depend on what 1st party titles you want to play 1st. With ms offering that option day 1 via gamepass (pc or Xbox client wise or steam)

You also have your normal Xbox os like it is now for people that just want the console experience. But with the pc version you can use mods etc like a normal pc.

Edit: I also see how this would be beneficial for them and there all digital future. By the end of the generation there would be close to all digital customer (which is a shame because I like physical but windows / steam trade off would be worth it and I think I’d even switch

I don't get why you guys always say stuff like someone's having a meltdown. Is it if someone says anything against what the status quo is on this forum, they are having a meltdown...because they arent towing the neogaf line that the majority piles on?

Dude, please read my messages. It's not hard. I said I didn't play it on steam, I played it on xbox. I purchased it on steam to give the devs a sale.....

But anyway, these are third party games which MS got through acquisitions. If the outfall of the failure of Xbox these days is that 3rd party titles return to the platforms they should have been on day one, then fine. Its a year or more late, but fine - this is where we should have been if the regulators had done their jobs effectively.

How is Sea of Thieves originally a third party game?

I don't care much for rhythm games, but enjoyed Hi-Fi Rush enough to finish it. Pentiment was a delete after 15 minutes game. The art style and writing were off-putting. Sold my XSX in June and moved to PS5. I purposely don't spend on any Activision Blizzard or Bethesda games in the store, and won't buy anything they port over. They way Xbox was during the acquisition and trial and their leaked email about acquiring Nintendo like a trophy and spending Sony out of the business were disgusting. Got to vote with my wallet and boycott them.

WTF are these idiots smoking?

Buying underdog MS games on PS will somehow make those players interested in buying a whole new console for games that you can already play on your PS?!?!?

These cucks have climbed so far up MS's A-hole that they've left reality.

How the heck is this what you comprehend from that tweet?
Where does that say or imply increased Xbox console sales?

He cant keep getting away with it.

Also, he denied Starfield is porting over (while others double down) so that leaves Indy. I think they might do a day and date test case with indiana jones.

Why would not acting like a 6 year old, when someone else gets the same toy you have, be considered spin? Do you think people should be mad?
These people sell themselves as analysts, pundits, and experts on the theme.

One of the main issues with this drama is the lack of critical thinking coming from people like this. They just repeat marketing/narrative speech.

'Consoles Sales don't matter'
Narrative: It must be true. Consoles are obsolete, and MS's ambition goes beyond these irrelevant plastic boxes.

'Viral Marketing with Game Pass, increase in sales'
Narrative: People playing on Game Pass will tell their friends to play x, y game, and more people will end up buying games.

"MS buying ABK"
Narrative: Good for gaming. AB games coming out day one on Game Pass, back catalog, dormant IP will make a return. Microsoft will fix AB, etc.

I honestly think killer instinct will go.

They have done series x update (so prob a ps5 build as well) and some recent cross play update.

They could do the f2p or pay for the full like on Xbox.

With the recent success of street fighter and tekken I can imagine a lot of people would want to at least give it a go. It helps that it is actually a great game. It deserves a resurgence which hopefully may lead to a sequel

Your Xbox profile isn't saying much for the game either my friend.

It's pretty crazy that you've made such a big fuss about this game over the last year but have barely played it more than me.

Hi fi rush was played on my daughters account as we did it together. This is just me blasting it every now and again on my account, lol.

I've not even completed it on mine yet.

Oh but of course.

One thing I don't understand is when people think Microsoft is gonna suddenly start a shell game where *some* former exclusives are gonna be released on other platforms, and some aren't, and average consumers will put in the work to find out which is which.

This completely ignores the idea that the console is undesirable even when all of these things were exclusive, they foreclosed a fucking Todd Howard game for God's sake and customers didn't come in droves. What makes people think this idea of selectively un-exclusiving games is gonna make people buy an Xbox instead?

Timed exclusivity doesn't matter either, I've been a proponent for alternative game stores on PC and even a click is too much for a ton of consumers to switch, so what makes it suddenly conceivable that consumers will spend $300-500 to buy an Xbox plus either Gamepass or cost of games?

My money is on the slow frog boil approach. But you know that eventually that fucker will boil.

What a nothing burger.

MS’ problems can’t even be solved by going multi platform. They need *good* games. Nothing will change until that happens.
Their problems are too far gone imo. The brand has been thoroughly sullied and is firmly undesirable in the marketplace. Even %30-50 price cuts weren't enough to entice customers.

All these pro-Xbox 'experts' are getting the criticism they deserve. This is why Jezz almost cried when Rand jokingly said it was his fault and went hiding before the nuke is dropped.

What they have done is gaslight the Xbox fanbase, parroting Microsoft's talking points: everything is A-okay. Microsoft's (MS's) infrastructure and war chest make them unstoppable; Sony is in serious trouble. Blah, blah, blah, blah...

Every decision Microsoft makes is just part of the big scheme, a 4D chess strategy... Let them cook. Well, the only thing that was cooked is Xbox's reputation
